  1. That may be true but we have to get normality eventually and we know that the virus is going to be around with us for a good while yet. With the vaccines protecting the most at risk and the seasonality figures on the positive cases that look like they are going down, we should look to open up education slowly and it looks like we are starting to with the primary 1 to 3's and older kids with practical lessons rumoured to be the first I for one am fed up with the restrictions and look forward to getting my life back but it needs to start somewhere and I don't know what steps you take first apart from education?
  2. I was not wanting to start any arguments but what got my back up was the reference that just because people saw teenagers without masks outside of the school grounds and out with school time, they naturally assumed that was the case within school. My experience is definitely not the case and I felt I had to defend the procedures that were put in to place as all schools done everything they could just for a lot of people to give them the blame for rising cases
  3. Sorry, typing on my phone and didn't proof read. By the way you missed the full stop at the end of your sentence.
  4. I understand what you are saying but short of falling every pupil around there is not much that can be done. The school canteens are not big enough to house all pupils at once and to stagger all years in to smaller groups would probably need 2 - 3 hours. Sorry to get everyone's back up just wanted to defend the schools procedures as we done everything we could.
  5. Not sure how I am make and arse of myself. Yes I have kids but I am also a teacher who wants to get back to face to face teaching with all my pupils as this home learning is not conducive to teach them the curriculum.
  6. Once again you are only making assumptions. The schools can't dictate to them outside school no matter what anyone thinks. For example I am sure that you don't wear a mask outside when walking so I have to assume that you don't wear one in a shop. That is a ridiculous statement as the two are not linked in any way so you can't make any correlation between anyone's behaviour in different setttings. I am aware teenagers are a law to themselves but my experience is that they were following the rules set out at school, but unfortunately like a lot of people (you just have to take a walk in any supermarket) are choosing to not wear a mask when they really should be.
  7. What your mates wife told you the kids in the coop where not wearing masks as there was no in school example given. My school (is) was masks on at all times when moving in the building and S4 - S6 with masks on in class and it was observed impeccably
  8. I am sorry but what has the behaviour of groups of kids in your local coop got to do with the procedures within school. Just because they are acting like fannies outside of school does not automatically mean they are not following the rules within. If you are going to give examples of teenagers braking rules surely to make your point it has to be an example within the school environment.
  9. I don't get this attitude, as much as a few people on here moan, we all know that the first things the government will open up are schools before anything else so the quicker we can get the first step done and hope it goes well then the quicker all the other restictions will be loosened and we can get back to normanl.
  10. They are great numbers, the end of this shitshow looks to be getting nearer. i had my doubts they could get this organised but am willing to say they are doing this bit well enough now
  11. Would the English figures include refusals as it may have been offered to everyone but have a refusal rate of almost 10%? this could be due to a number of factors such a higher percentage of BAME workers. who will not take it for thier own reasons. Is this not why Scotland can only report a 98% vaccination % as people may have refused or not been able to be vaccinated ?
  12. I am fully aware of this and posted on Friday that Fife had not had a care home positive case in a week. my post was in response to someone stating "Because getting into the care homes early while England sat on their hands will save lives - and as we know the death current death rates in English homes is shocking." I was just pointing out that at present Scotland is not doing so shit hot on that measurement so we can't take the moral high ground
  13. I am sorry but Scotlands death rate is only slightly down from the peak in the statistics (which was on the 27 January), so yes the SG should be held accountable on the death rate as well as the UK gov.
  14. The news of this has been delayed. Mrs Stig is one of the tracers in Fife has said to me yesterday the good news that there has not been a positive case in a care home in the last week and a half. I hope that this shows that the vaccination process is actually working and these people are now protected.
  15. yes they can say that but at the back of that add in "but the vaccines that are proven to work are now available and we should see the numbers in hosital drop soon as more people are being vaccinated and once the NHS is no longer in danger we will ease back on the restrictions in a systematic manner" it is a simple sentence added in to your negative message that would show that progress is being made and they are at least looking towards the future. It gives a little bit of hope without setting targets that can be missed and upsetting the facebook maws
  16. Look if you are happy to be stuck in this lockdown for an indefinite period of time then so be it but at this moment i am at my worst stage mentally of this whole thing as there is no end in sight and i am just looking for a sliver of positivity that this are going to get better from our leaders, but everyday it is one negative thing after another and frankly it is starting to seriously affect me.
  17. we have been told that this is to stop the NHS being over run. would it be to much for them to say that once we reach a certain level of people in hospital then we will look to do X, there is no date given but it may result in greater compliance with the rules as it gives a target that people to work to. They should be working with the carrot and stick analogy but we are not being offered the carrot but they it feels like the reward is not getting beaten with the stick and we should be happy with that!
  18. Aye, why would the government want to do something as stupid as give people some hope in their lives as some area of Scotland have only been in an effective lockdown since October (could be wrong but was that when Glasgow, Lanarkshire etc where in tier 4) i am sure that they are happy that it could be another 6 months as they have not been advised any other way.
  19. With the reported 92 deaths today, Scotland is easily at it's worst death rate for the whole of this pandemic but I don't see any of the anger directed towards the Scottish government as at Boris and the UK gov. It all well and good voting for the SNP in the May elections if your stance is only on Independence , but serious questions need to be answered by them on there handling and decision making on the whole of this situation.
  20. Vaughan's back, league title incoming But I will be watching the game like Every time someone goes near him
  21. 22,498 not really a bumper day, we have had 5 days bigger in the last week, but it is more than Tuesday last week and more than the 11k yesterday so there is some progress
  22. I think most reasonable people don't expect schools to be back now until after the planned Easter break, but what is the problem in telling everyone that. it is this constant 3 week kicking the can down the road bullshit that all governments are coming out with. and is pissing off the public even more as they are unable to plan for anything?
  23. No one is saying that it is going to be "normal" in April. I personally would like to see my parents somehow before then though as a few people seem to suggest that this current lockdown in this format should remain until the end of April. That can get so far in the sea that aquaman would not be able to save it.
