  1. Where's this suddenly come from considering they had their AGM last Monday and is it a serious proposal from the council, who as we both know have not done a lot for the club in the last 40 years? Also good news re the small bit or terracing that was closed last season, not half the terracing. Glad it's getting fixed as I fell on my arse there the season before it was closed off.
  2. 99% certain the goalkeeper is Wilson rather than McCulloch which would make it the November game.
  3. Probably from the game at the end of August 1991, which was a 1-1 each draw. If so Monty scored for us in front of over 8,000 fans.
  4. Agree with your logic but I would be amazed if we were stupid enough to take him back as he's too injury prone.
  5. I thought we were rotten and were lucky to only lose by 2 goals. If Motherwell had scored 4 or 5 we couldn't have complained. It was obvious after less than 10 minutes the back 3 wasn't working yet our' tactical genius' didn't change it until well into the 2nd half. If he was going to persist with 3 at the back he should have started Mayo IMO. How that team can put in a performance like that after their display against St Mirren baffles me. Probably most of it is down to Motherwell getting their tactics correct and stopping us from creating too many chances. As an aside, and he wasn't a factor in the result, Clancy was an utter joke yesterday to both teams. Utterly hopeless who was kept right by both of his linesmen doing their jobs properly.
  6. I have said for years there should be something like this established that does not include fans/representatives from either Rangers or Celtic.
  7. John Henry was a great player. I didn't really know much about him when he signed for us, despite the fact I must have seen him play for Clydebank against us before our promotion in 93. On the other hand I always wanted us to sign Paul Harvey, but we never did. You are correct with Gordon Hunter by the way,
  8. 1. Sherry Darling 2. Thunder Road 3. 4th July, Ashbury Park (Sandy) Can't wait to see the great man again next month at Murrayfield
  9. Delighted with our performance on Saturday and getting a fully deserved 3 points. I thought Power was superb followed closely by Vassell, Donnelly, Taylor and Chambers; there wasn't a failure in our team. Special call out to the Killie support who turned out in great numbers today and really backed the team. 5 massive games coming up now, so hopefully the injuries picked up today are not too lengthy. Congratulations to St Mirren for finishing in the top 6 this season, you obviously deserve it. Having lived next to Paisley virtually all my life I am pleased for all the ST Mirren fans I know.
  10. Excellent post explaining as I said what is the elephant in the room that the SFA, SPFL, Rangers, Celtic and the Police are not prepared to address. I'm in my sixties and I can guarantee this same issue will still exist long past my time watching Scottish football as no one will address it because of the backlash they will get from the scum element of both fan bases.
  11. Good luck with this. I suspect at least 1 red card and at least 6 yellows. Makes me even more nervous about Saturday now.
  12. John Byrne was from Barrhead and a headmaster at one of the local primary schools (St Johns I think) and a really nice guy. Sat with him quite a few times in the Arthurlie Inns in the late 70s and early 80s and he was a font of knowledge on football, especially in the local area. He watched Arthurlie for years. When it came to senior football I can't remember if he was a St Mirren fan or a Celtic fan - I think it was St Mirren.
  13. Exactly, and the SFA & SPFL don't want to address the elephant in the room. The fewer old firm fans in attendance at another team's home matches against either cheek will mean more home fans attending. I did take my children to games against them when they were young on a point of principal, as I wasn't prepared to back down to them, but there are some times I did regret it, especially the season Celtic lost out to Rangers, just after losing the UEFA Cup Final - that was horrific. Sadly we'll still be talking about the same unaddressed issues in another 20 years time, although I might not be here to see it.
  14. Killie do give out tickets to schools and boys club every game as far as I know. I am more than happy for us to give Celtic and Rangers fans only 1 stand for a number of reasons and doing so definitely impacts us financially but to me in the longer term it's a price worth paying. Prior to Steve Clarke taking over we would be lucky if we had about 2,000 home fans at games involving Celtic and Rangers for 2 reasons - first we usually lost, often never bothered turning up, and secondly, IMO, because it was not a nice/pleasant experience having to walk amongst these opposition fans before and after the game. Killie have since made the Moffat Stand a family stand and put on activities for children underneath the stand before the game (I think the Killie Trust help out with organising this). It's an excellent initiative and has brought more families to Killie games. We even sold family season tickets prior to this change which did not include games against Rangers or Celtic, which was ridiculous IMO. The added bonus is that in the main we can walk into the ground and out the ground without having to walk next to old firm fans, which to me is a massive plus. In an ideal world I would not sell any tickets to Rangers or Celtic fans, but rules state this is not allowed. I feel kind of guilty saying some of the above as you seen quite a decent person, but I hope Kilmarnock continue with the current policy.
  15. He can go anytime as far as I am concerned. The problem is who would Billy Bowie then bring in as a replacement. Not going to happen though.
  16. Good summary apart from the bit in bold. It was his 2nd show of dissent in 2 minutes after moaning to the lineman and referee just before. A totally needless booking, which I thought it was funny at the time. The Buffs fans I spoke to at the end weren't overly impressed with his stupidity either. No idea why either of the 2 Arthurlie goals were chalked off. No doubt I will have the pleasure of seeing the clown who was in charge soon in the Championship when Killie go down this season - he was absolutely clueless.
  17. Sad news about Big Ashy. Was a great player for Arthurlie over the years and a nice guy to go with it. Was taking to his old headmaster today who was shocked at the news as he's known him for over 45 years. Far too young.
  18. I saw them at the O2 Academy in Glasgow last November and they were superb.
  19. I like his comment about 'the amount of space given in the newspapers to certain teams in scotland' If anything it has got worse now than it would have been then.
  20. We went to Philip Island and enjoyed the day - It's a fairly drove there and back but good. We also went to the 12 Apostles on the Ocean Road trip. Something else to see is the Shrine of Remembrance, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. We did a bike trip round Melbourne - Freddy's Bikes - which is quite central and near the Yarra if he's still there. If you go over to the MCG there are lots of different sports arenas nearby - AAMI Stadium - major tenants when we went in 2017 were Melbourne Storm (NRL), Super rugby team Melbourne Rebels (Rugby Union) and the 2 A-League football teams Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City. It is also known as the Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, and looks like a number of footballs interlinked from the outside. You will pass where the Olympic Games were held in 1956 and while the athletics arena has long gone the swimming pool remains - it is an outdoor swimming pool and the area is now used by Collingwood (Aussie Rules) for training. The Hisense Arena is nearby, and is used for indoor games/sports (basketball, netball, cycling, tennis, ice hockey) and concerts. The last arena is where the Australian Open (Tennis) takes place the 2 main areas are The Rod Laver Arena and The Margaret Court Arena. There is also a statue of Ferenc Puskas nearby. You can also go to Fitzroy Gardens where you will see Captain Cook’s house, which was his parent's house in Yorkshire. I believe it was moved from England. Melbourne was easily my favourite place in Australia.
  21. From memory, Killie had to win by 5 more goals than Clyde did if they won, and we were 5 nil up at Palmerston while Clyde were drawing 0-0 with St Johnstone well into the 2nd half. Clyde then scored late on which meant we needed to score again, which we did to go up 6-0, so as it stood we were safe, however Clyde got a very dubious penalty (I didn't think it was a penalty as I was at Firhill that day) well into injury time, which they duly scored to relegate us. We signed Tommy Tait the next season so he didn't play for us as Palmerston. In fact I am pretty sure he played for Clyde that day and celebrated as he came from Ayr.
  22. WFAANW - will always be the case. Team with more fight won that game.
