  1. McBeth hasnt looked out of his depth i dont think, clearly a bit pissed off at how the games been going. Think ref called both fouls right in real time, but aye, fighting chance he'll get a red.
  2. Play decent, purty passes Create some half chances/shots Concede from a free kick/corner - bonus points if one of our selection of junior level jobber goalkeepers flaps at it/displays poppadom hands!
  3. how the f**k are we still 3rd edit: i know we're drifting towards mid table obscurity but bloody hell. another edit: Oh! 2-1. Really, really, really need a win though, no league wins since 06 January... yet another edit: 2-2. PLEASE. ONE MORE. AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DON'T LOSE THIS. PLEASE.

  5. Think theres something to this, yeah - i may have imagined it or missed him whistling, but i think the ref delayed about 3/4 seconds before calling a foul against Ross Docherty. There were some afters, a few of our players were angry, ref waiting for it to calm down a bit. Eventually he gave Docherty a yellow (may have booked one of our players too for some shoving) Id need to fully see it again start to finish, but in real time what it looked like was that he saw the incident, it registered in his head, he went "oh f**k, no VAR, if im going to call this i have to do it now" and then just played it safe with a yellow card for the initial foul. Ill caveat that ive not seen it back, but even at the time it looked pretty poor, kind of a high challenge that planted on a knee iirc. I reckon VAR might be breeding indecisiveness, but idk. Could vary from ref to ref and all.
  6. i know you specify league games but id also be curious if similar has happened in cup games with extra time etc. Feel like there's definitely been at least a few games where someone wins in on, say, 119+ minutes. e.g. team A scores in the first minute team B equalises late on in normal time team B scores late on in extra time
  7. I've done the most back of a fag packet cost imaginable for mine, but if you can save on any of these: i) my current road tax is about £170 - £180 a year - as tempting as HAHA V8 GO VROOM VROOM is, some of the road tax rates are brutal. Did a bit of fantasy shopping and was surprised how low the cash price is on some cracking looking Jaguar XKR's (some of which look in decent nick and aren't even *that* old, really) are at the minute... then clocked the road tax is £500 - £600 a year. Ouch. ii) an oil service, MOT and maybe the odd bits (brakes n' tyres) I generally budget about £200 a year - I'm fortunate to be doing very few miles at the minute + the 2 years during lockdown. If you're running an unreliable shitbox then that changes things, past a certain point you have to cut your losses. iii) insurance fully comp is about £380 for a full year I'm getting quoted now. This has unfortunately gone up across the board afaik. Can only advise to do the usual and shop around, never auto-renew etc. If you're unfortunate and don't have a clean licence, at-fault claims history etc. then idk how to unfuck it I'm afraid. iv) petrol/diesel is obviously the biggest and heavily mileage dependant. If you need to do the travel then ultimately unless you're walking/cycling, you're still going to have to pay something to get there. I'm heavily considering getting an E-Bike at some point tbf, having that option for shorter commutes to the train station for work etc. would be nice. v) can't help with regards to finance etc. with having the actual car itself. Can only suggest trying to get the most bang for your buck - a friend of mine is a mechanic and has said once or twice that the Dacia's that come in for servicing etc. are surprisingly well put together given they're technically just cheap Clio's. Badge snobbery is rather foolish to me, big fancy cars still get stuck in traffic the same as everyone else at the end of the day. edit: aware of the irony given I said above that Jaaag XKR's were catching my eye right enough, ha. Still, £5k for a supercharged 4.2L V8.......
  8. "A twenty year career as Sky Sports face of football - a sport he has secretly never liked, much less understood" "That's between him and whichever women he spoke about hanging out the back of" "It annoys me when people assume they didn't learn their lesson just because they migrated to the middle east to front football coverage for hardline Muslims"
  9. Disappointed to draw in the end, but didnt expect anything other than a Utd win, especially after they equalised. Agree with other posts, there were encouraging signs with that starting eleven, definitely. McBeth had flashes where he looked top flight quality (brave block in the wall too) but did drift out of the game and imo there was a lot more balance to the side. Docherty could have been red carded instead of yellow? Ref hesitated to even give a foul, looked a bit naughty. Ditto the karate kick on Williams. We might have gotten away with a handball penalty shout too, hard to tell in real time. Holt was poor, Gallagher sauntered around like he couldnt be arsed. Williams was great even if he might have been at least partly at fault with the equaliser, think his header was going in before Graham finished it off and a brilliant last ditch recovery late on. Also enjoyed him stooping to win two headers in a row despite being blatantly fouled. Robinson was outstanding. Mitchell clearly our best keeper, decent distribution on him and all.
  10. can say when younger i had this (without going into it i panicked and pretty much walked off from my first ever grown up job) wonder if its a common thread/feeling too among younger folk; fewer and fewer quality job opportunities available, and increasing competition with not just other people, but automation too.
  11. Yea, kinda the same. "Last year, there was a band that I love, and that my partner and my son love, but to go and see them, tickets were £80. We didn't go." This does ring true, can't mind how/when it started exactly (ticketmaster? metallica jacking up prices and other acts following suit?) but I had a quick look online and its full of pish like this: £100+ to see John Mayer, whoever that is. £42.50+ to see The Gaslight Anthem, whoever they are.
  12. Fair enough theres x3 home games in there, but thats a horrific set of fixtures on paper to have with our current form/head to head against Raith Rovers and Dundee Utd...
  13. ahhhhhh, cheers, oh i read that as being unhappy as in annoyed at other fans/police/stewards... will delete the original post, glad whoever it is is on their feet at least, hopefully recovers fully from whatever happened.
  14. Also Ayr up next. Tbf this side would just get jobbed out in the playoffs anyway but it'd still be nice to slink into 4th on the off chance we go on a run out of nowhere like last season (minus the last minute bedshitting), but there's so, so many cracks within the squad. Was always going to be a nightmare to put together a properly good side given the previous board gobbled up all the cash reserves - January signings very much reeked of it and pretty much spelled out that we were content to let Raith Rovers and Dundee Utd contend with each other rather than spend a bit to properly compete with them, which is fair enough as our head to head with them this season has been garbage anyway - hopefully once some of the dead wood is gone we can pull a few more Turner/Holt/Tiffoney style signings from somewhere. I'm increasingly undecided on Kerr McInroy too; definitely a good Championship player in there from some of the games he's had, but idk exactly where his best position is. Think he looks really sluggish to a lot of second balls.
  15. Didnt realise how close the 6 yard line is there too, and they still made a c**t of it
  16. Aware im seething but the entire refereeing team should be sacked. Thats embarassing.
  17. Feels a bit season defining, would take an eye bleeding 1-0 Thistle win all day (as much as a fixture in isolation can) - swatched our fixtures and play ayr after this who are not far below us in the league, dundee utd + raith (above us and our head to head has been poor against both this season so not confident getting anything out of either of those games at all) + Morton who are closing in on us and all. Nice kind of tension at least, tbf.
  18. Oh christ, aye. Think that's actually happened a few times - generally said in a tongue in cheek/jokey way on the Friday coverage but "what would VAR have given there do you think?"
  19. I have a feeling that early on when VAR looked like it was coming in, a few posters pointed out that the media backing for it was pretty much driven by exactly whats unfolded. They don't have to do boring things like talk about how a team pressed intelligently or actually analyse games in any sort of meaningful way (some of them are incapable, but even for the smarter ones that can pick up on little details on how a team is playing during a match, it just isn't sexy/controversial enough) - they can just describe the events as they happen on the pitch almost literally (the Alan Shearer "well he gets the ball, runs forward a bit and then scores a fantastic goal, keeper had no chance" method), knowing that there'll be at least one call that VAR either makes or doesn't make which they can fixate over post-match. This will rumble on for a few days and boom, high quality broadcasting/print journalism that deals with slow news days in their cycle. Get it to f**k.
  20. You pretty much always have to caveat whoever you're picking tbf; anyone that legit shone out for us almost certainly wasn't here for long or if they did have a few seasons at the club, wasn't able to sustain it consistently or they would have gotten a bigger/more lucrative move somewhere else. Makes Doolan's career all the more special, come to think of it, tbf. Plus there's guys like Erskine, Lawless and Archibald who left but came back. Also just remembered Lawless goal against Aberdeen, would be my pick for goal of the century. Typically I'm sure we still lost that game, but the Scott Brown goal last night jogged my memory a bit, wasn't a volley but a similar gorgeous dipping action on the shot. Wooft. edit: actually no. Erskine against Airdrie.
  21. Im with O2, and every so often get a text (that is legit) about resetting a pin/password. Then a phone call from all over the shop, claiming to be able to get a 40% discount if I confirm my pin with them. First time I got one I was a bit confused (because the text looked legit but the call clearly wasnt) - read the text down to the end and it said O2 will never call you for this pin. Called the scammer a p***k and hung up & blocked him, but every few weeks some con artist chances it again. Edit: actually i think o2 send 2/3 different texts for whatever the scammers are trying, took a skim before i clocked the warning. Im not even sure what they can do if you fall for it, but i suppose phone numbers are really important now with e.g. authentication texts and calls so thats their angle somewhere. Change the number on your o2 account and try to access other sensitive/lucrative accounts?
