@virginton wondering what you think is wrong with my earlier post? I don't have you down as a climate change denier.
In the news this morning:
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-66304220
Nothing to see here!
People might think I'm coming across as some sort of raving doom merchant but the evidence of an imminent climate catastrophe really is there for all to see. It's irrefutable.

It's an interesting conundrum. Morally I think it's wrong to accept a Saudi pound.
You could on one hand make life changing amounts of money. That's good!
But this money comes off the back of the oil industry which is destroying the planet. That's bad.
I know guys in my line of work who have worked in Saudi. I just don't think I could do it though because it looks and sounds absolutely shit. It looks great if you are the kind of person who is into overpriced pretentious dinners, sports cars, designer clothes, living in a desert and being surrounded by cretins.
Difficult to begrudge people who go out there for a bit to make some coin but at the same time it's questionable and doesn't sit right with me.

In the last week wildfires have engulfed parts of Spain, Greece, Sicily, Croatia, Algeria and Turkey. I've probably missed some other countries out.
When will the penny drop that significant, urgent action needs to taken right now if we have any hope of turning this around?
The climate disaster isn't coming - it's already here.

Unbelievable he got the United job in the first place. You guys are gubbed.
Dundee have a chance here become the dominant force in Tayside. They have long been the joke outfit but if they can’t capitalise on the misfortunes of both United and ourselves now then they might as well give up the beautiful game.

It's a shocking result no doubt, and by all accounts an incredibly bad spectacle. It's unacceptable - but the amount of knicker-wetting on the banter page is pathetic.

Anyone else hearing on the radio what sounds like the Spartans young team chanting "peado"

Lovely incisive pass to add to his assists. Top of the all time assist charts
Can honestly see him finishing his career there. He's on about £40k, where else is he going to get that kind of money. Far easier to stand out and become a club legend in that league as well.
He won't play for Scotland but he's probably already feeling like he's made that bed moving there in the first place
Just been watching some of his goals, he looks like he's key member of the team and having a great time - little wonder when you are making a fine wage in a superb city like Vancouver.

There's going to be a lot explosives needed over slochd to make space!
What baffles me is why some other areas with fewer obstacles haven't been duelled yet. The Drumochter Pass to Crubenmore Lodge section for example crosses over empty, sheep-wrecked, muirburn wasteland, where - in theory - it should be relatively straight forward to add another section of road. That's a good 12 miles of road that could have been duelled by now.

Last bit though, how have Hearts shown a lack of ambition?
What I should have said was lack of foresight. Hearts have always had a large fanbase and the club were already selling out in the Championship before the old stand was demolished. The new main stand should have been extended higher to increase the capacity IMO.

I like the Aberdeen home strip and I think it will grow on folk. Agree it's got shades of Spain / Bayern about it. Good for a one off IMO.

The first thing I will say about this is that it's great to see Hearts in a position where there are able to virtual sell out their entire ground to their own fans. The backing the Hearts fans give the club at Tynecastle is to be applauded. In addition to this, any Old Firm supporter who complains about this move doesn't have a leg to stand on given the behaviour of their own clubs on this issue in recent times. However, this decision by Hearts is ultimately a very wrong and poor one.
This "*insert club* is only looking out for it's own fans, fair play" trope is a piece of nonsense. It is setting a dangerous precedent where clubs are basically blocking away fans from attending games. We've seen it already with the OF derbies, now Hearts are heading down that path. What's stopping Hearts from no longer providing an away allocation so they can give all their stadium to home supporters? Nothing, it would seem. Away fans help create an atmosphere at the football, as soon as you start removing them the atmosphere becomes sterile. It becomes a poor advert for our game.
The SPFL should have stepped in ages ago and stopped this stuff when the OF were at it. Every top flight club should be forced to provide an initial minimum percentage of their stadium to away supporters - I say 5%. That's roughly 1000 away fans at Tynecastle, which is perfectly fair for everyone.
As I've said before (I started a thread about it ffs) the segregation issue at Hearts is a total embarrassment, it's a disgrace. The massive sheet covering seats in the Roseburn looks ridiculous and denies hundreds, possibly over 1000 fans, from attending games. Hearts need to find a proper long term solution for this, be it a moveable, folding fence that stretches down the stand or something else. I'm sure there will be examples used abroad they can take inspiration from.
Tynecastle is easily my favourite away day. Last time tickets for Saints away at Tynie went on sale, I'm fairly sure they sold out within 30 seconds - such is the demand and the pathetic allocation. It is now going to be even harder, maybe impossible, for non-season ticket holders to get briefs for this away fixture. It's disappointing and needless.
10 years ago you'd have been laughed at on here for suggesting that Hearts should build a new stand bringing capacity up to 23k or thereabouts. Now we find ourselves in a position where they need just that - it's difficult to imagine that they'll ever be able to expand Tynecastle. That's what you get for showing a lack of ambition.

To my shame I have to admit I like that effort by the Chels.

Away shirt and shorts are seemingly all white so would imagine they will mix and match
My word.

The new sponsor is tasteful, it’s not intrusive and really fits in with the shirt. The pinstripes travel across the entire shirt front to back. It’s a retro style shirt and an instant classic. Only complaint is that we should be in white shorts. I’m see there is a long sleeve version as well which will also look incredible. I’m on cloud nine here.

Ooft. Denier confirmed. Sad moment, this.
Funny how you think I'm an 'extremist' because I believe in the strong correlations between increasing CO2 emissions and average global temperature etc. I don't think that makes me an extremist at all. Climate change is of course a natural process but the data we have on this shows a clear link between human produced CO2 emissions and climate change. You cannot argue with that. As a result we are seeing record temperatures being broken annually across the world, increased flooding events and of course, increased frequency of devastating wildfires. Natural climate change happens at a rate which allows people and ecosystems to adapt - but this is happening at breakneck speed.
We are already seeing the impacts climate change is having but it will only get worse. Water scarcity will lead to crop failure, starvation, mass migration, parts of the world will be virtually uninhabitable due to the heat, natural disasters will displace millions. All the evidence we have suggests these things are going to happen.
Instead however, you choose to label folk as extremists - probably because you think anyone who believes in the very real threat of climate change is a middle-class ecowarrior who glues themselves to roads and desecrates valuable paintings. Very narrow minded.
