I honestly think Aberdeen should have threatened to boycott the match before agreeing to these prices / allocation. Make a massive scene and draw unwanted attention (from the SPFL’s point of view) to what is an utterly ridiculous situation. The longer nobody takes a stand the longer the pandering to the Old Firm will continue.

These wee shites should be getting doused with water cannons IMO. Send them home to their parents cold, soaking wet and miserable.

Funny how polarising Avril is amongst diddy club fans.
Either a good solid appointment, or this is going to be hilarious.. though I feel a lot of the latter is from the St Johnstone hating brigade on here.
It’s a great move for Levein though. He’s never won a major honour, and in fairness to him he’s never been at a club who are likely to do so these days. What an opportunity to put that right in the swansong of his career.
This would be poetry. We have cup pedigree too, unlike most of the diddy clubs. Make it happen, Levein.

I said before a ball was kicked tonight that this competition along with the FA Cup is Everton’s only realistic shot of claiming silverware. They got the win against Burnley and now they’ve been handed a very kind dra’.
A home dra’ against Fulham - winnable tie. Good that one of Chelsea or Newcastle will be eliminated and good that either Port Vale or Middlesbrough will be in the semis.

Sickens me to my stomach that Neil Warnock is not on that list.

No pyro, no punishment?
Fans who are caught with pyro should be banned for years. I hate pyro - it's dangerous, it contributes nothing to the atmosphere and it brings punishments to clubs. It's not so bad for the likes of the Old Firm who can afford it but for everyone else it's particularly damaging.

Saddens me how utterly shit Golspie Sutherland are, being the only licensed team aside from Fort William I've wanted them to gain promotion for years so they can have a wee derby with Brora.

Haven't been closely following but the Highland League looks crazy open this year, I'd say any of the teams between 1st - 8th have a realistic chance of winning the league still.

He did yes. They got him briefly cancelled from Twitter so he responded with a very sincere apology.

To me the simple solution to the OF ticket fiasco would be that both clubs agree on a percentage of the stadium to allocate to away fans. Say for example, 5%. That would give Celtic around 2500 at Ibrox and Rangers 3000 at Celtic Park.
Segregation wise it’s probably easy enough to give Rangers fans the whole corner of that away end at CP. Ibrox is a little trickier without having swathes of empty seats as segregation. One solution I think would be to give Celtic fans the top tier of the Broomloan and have a buffer strip of empty seats along the first few front rows, marshalled by police. Before people say it wouldn’t work, it works perfectly fine in England - an example being Sunderland away at Newcastle.

Remembered this thread after seeing the 'Disposable Vapes' discussion earlier today. I've recently been carrying out a eco-friendly transition on my toiletries. In addition to the soap tin and bamboo toothbrush mentioned above, I've recently purchased:
A re-fillable deodorant stick. There are a few options but I went with Fussy because I prefer the design of the stick and the scents they do. Anyone who fancies trying it send me a PM and I'll give you a 50% referral discount code.
Georganics toothpaste in a glass jar, 100% recyclable and vegan.
https://georganics.com/products/flouride-toothpaste-peppermint?variant=40210389106739
Waken Mouthwash. I haven't bought this yet but will when my current stuff runs out. 100% recycled plastic bottle, carbon neutral, vegan and made with natural products. Optional metal serving cup which looks nifty.
Review of products:
Fussy Deodorant: very good. Scents are nice and I don’t have BO. Only downside is the price, £5 per refill is expensive. You can sometimes find discount codes online to bring the price down.
Waken Mouthwash: also very good. Tastes nice and leaves mouth feeling clean. Also comparable in price to typical mouthwash brands in the shops.
Georganics Toothpaste: shite. Do not recommend. As discussed previously, very high price tag and the toothpaste itself is foul. Has a weird texture to it and it doesn’t really feel like it’s giving my teeth a good clean. I’ve found an eco-toothpaste alternative at Life Supplies who do a reuseable pump and send out recyclable bags of toothpaste. You send the empty bags back to them in the post for free to be recycled. Price comparable to typical toothpaste brands. Will review this toothpaste in future.

I agree regarding female commentators for mens games, I'm not sure I'm a fan tbh. It's nothing at all to do with commentary ability or a lack of passion, it's just that I prefer to hear a blokes voice on commentary. Why this is I do not know. Maybe I just want to hear that deep, manly voice when someone scores a dramatic last minute winner #nohomo. Take Aguero's title winning goal for example, Martin Tylers commentary is a huge part of what makes this moment iconic. Would it have been as iconic had it been a female commentator instead?
Female pundits on the other hand, no issue with that whatsoever. As others have pointed out there are plenty of male pundits who are complete wallopers and shouldn't be anywhere near punditry teams but there are plenty of female pundits who are very good at what they do. As long as a pundit knows their stuff and is able to put their points across in an eloquent way then I don't care what sex they are.

Why is VAR not checking this? That’s as clear a red as you’ll ever see. If it isn’t checked what’s the point in having VAR?

Fair play to Dundee fans if we do go down, gives them something to celebrate. They don’t get that feeling too often.

"Tree of the year"

Thousands of people.
Trees are living monuments. How would you feel if a 200 - 300 year old landmark monument / building in your town or city was mindlessly torn down overnight? You would be rightly angry, perhaps devastated.
At least a building can somewhat be rebuilt / replaced in a relatively short space of time. However once a mature tree is cut down, it is gone forever. We will not see a mature tree there again in our lifetime. And all of the life that the tree sustained and could continue to sustain for the years to come has vanished.
Matures trees will forever hold more value than famous buildings. The forests they form contain irreplaceable ecosystems that have grown over hundreds, sometimes thousands of years. People sent "thoughts and prayers", changed their facebook banners etc when the Notre-Dame went up in flames. Yet we don't see the same level of public outrage or sadness as logging and wildfires continue to destroy ancient forests worldwide.
If people viewed our ancient trees and forests as living monuments with the same fondness as they do for pieces of human architecture then the world would be a better place.

Yesterday the latest State of Nature Report was released - and it makes for grim reading. The main take home points:
- Nearly one in six species at risk of extinction in Great Britain
-
151 of 10,008 species assessed have already become extinct since 1500
-
The species studied have, on average, declined by 19% in the UK since monitoring began in 1970
- Most of the important habitats for the UK’s nature are in poor condition
Link to the article the National Biodiversity Network article here: https://nbn.org.uk/news/state-of-nature-2023/
Link to the report here: https://stateofnature.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/TP25999-State-of-Nature-main-report_2023_FULL-DOC-v12.pdf
In what is already one of the most nature depleted countries on earth, to say this current situation is not good enough would be a massive understatement. What is unfolding in front of us is utterly tragic. Rewilding offers an obvious solution to reverse the trend. Unfortunately the Scottish Government are too feart to fully embrace rewilding whilst Westminster is simply anti-nature altogether.
In better news, according to the SGA as I can't find any links to the story, Tory MSP Edward Mountain was defeated in parliament yesterday in his attempt to prevent an open deer season on male deer. Deer are of course are huge ecological problem in Scotland, so having an open season will make it easier to reduce their numbers all year round - which will help encourage natural regeneration of woodland and protect peatlands from being eroded, ultimately boosting biodiversity. The SGA are devastated at this outcome, which is of course immensely pleasing.

Some people really don't like the idea of a rugged, working-class Scottish man excelling in his field and then choosing to keep challenging himself even though he is financially set for life and a club legend elsewhere.
We saw it with Sir Yogi to a similar extent: a salt-of-the-earth, normal guy who doesn't speak 'proper English', for which he continues to be looked down upon by members of this forum and people elsewhere. But Yogi achieved more than 99% of Scottish football managers ever will. He won The Caley the Scottish Cup, finished third in the league with The Caley and took The Caley into Europe while playing swashbuckling, technically excellent football. If his name was Juan Husondo he would be lauded for his achievements. But the class snobbery and tall poppy syndrome of many in Scottish football prevented that from happening.
And now we see the same thing occurring with Mr. Ferguson. Fans of absolute no-mark clubs - your Mortons, your Arbroaths, your Raith Roverses - are pretending they know what a quality manager looks like despite having become inured to watching utter shite and seeing their clubs achieve nothing over the past twenty years at least.
Right-thinking fans of The Caley know what potential looks like: we saw it with Steve Paterson, we saw it with John Robertson, we saw it with Terry Butcher, we saw it with Sir Yogi. Nobody else saw it. And now we see it clearly with Mr. Ferguson. The Caley will see you soon.

SENSATIONAL appointment. I think Big Dunc will be excellent for The Caley. Ignore the record at Forest Green, they were gubbed before he took over anyway.

Can always rely on some idiots following a Scottish club to semi-ruin an utterly fantastic moment with antics like that. If I was an Aberdeen fan I’d be less worried about your idiot wannabe Ultras fans getting a deserved kicking and more concerned about the inevitable repercussions that are to come.

Things you want to share with P&B

Today is my 15th anniversary as a member of The Forum. On this day in 2008 I would have been signing up to P&B for the first time on one of the school library computers. 15 years later and I’m still here. Remarkable. How do I plan to celebrate this special day I hear you ask? A few weeks ago I became a home owner for the first time. My new #perthshire home needs renovation work before I can move in, so I’ll be continuing that today. Here’s to the next 15 years
