The Buckie fan I’ve conversed with refers to the SPFL as a “wasteland” and that Buckie would go bankrupt if they went up.

A Buckie fan is telling me fans had an “open vote” about promotion to the SPFL and apparently they don’t want it. Not sure where the club stands on this. He’s complaining about the prospect of long journeys to away games and “mediocrity” in the SPFL. Sounds like he wants to support a big fish in a relatively small pond. Personally I can’t abide this weird mentality.

Love to see this from Hibs. It really is a joy to watch ‘lesser’ clubs cut the OF’s allocation. Please stick with this decision this time. Every club should be doing this. As I vehemently argue on a regular basis in the SJFC thread, giving the OF more tickets is a great way of alienating your home supporters in favour of a few extra quid. They bring nothing but complete misery both on (for the most part) and off the park. Simply put: People don’t want to go to these games. The OF coming to town isn’t some big exciting event like some in the boardrooms seem to think, it’s a day to dread. Would love it if my club grew a set and reduced their allocation to one stand behind the goal. Sadly our board are short sighted fools and will likely give them 3 stands while a sizeable portion of oddballs within our fanbase will argue that Saints will die if we don’t do it. What do Hibs currently get at Ibrox, 900 seats? About 1.7% of capacity - which is ridiculous anyway. So give them 1.7% of ER (350 seats) and as others have said, punt them in the top corner of the top tier. Sell the rest of your stand to home fans.

Very classy strip that, especially the 'museum edition' without the sponsor. If SJFC released something like that I'd be all over it.

There is no doubt that the absence of VAR has made this game far more enjoyable than it would have been. It's refreshing.

I actually don't think it would be that bad. Lots of people would walk in or get a bus and those who are driving would probably park in the streets close - but not too near - to the ground and walk in. Then you have the retail parks with loads of parking by the likes of B&M. I think people would quickly learn to avoid driving round that area on matchdays, which is no bad thing if it means reducing traffic on the roads or makes people consider alternative means of travel into town. ETA: nothing stopping the council putting a post on their socials reminding people it's matchday so there will be increased traffic and to avoid the area if they can. Probably too sensible an idea for P&K Council though.

This is pie in the sky stuff but I think the only way I could stomach a smaller stadium is if it was built where the leisure pool / ice rink are. The future of the pool has been up for debate for a while now regarding its age and running cost. If a new owner came in and struck up some sort of deal with the council to replace these facilities in the outskirts of town while we get a new stadium on that land then I COULD be swayed. I have done the measurements on google maps and I believe it would be possible. Next to the train station and near town / pubs it would be an epic location for a stadium. Our attendances would probably significantly increase immediately due to the proximity to town. And Perth would also get a new leisure pool / rink. Everyone's a winner.

I don't think they are man. Folk are being serious. It's staggering stuff. There are so many ways in which we could improve McDiarmid at the fraction of the cost of building a completely new stadium (which would inevitably be shite btw). I've definitely moaned previously about this already: 1) Get rid of yellow and red seats, change to blue and white. 2) Put a section of rail seats in for a 'safe standing' area in the entire corner of the East Stand, covering a quarter of the stand. 3) Brighten up the concourse. Paint murals, put pictures along the stands such as a historical timeline, put in new TVs for folk to watch when they get a pie. 4) Make sure there's enough hot food for everyone pre-match and at half time FFS 5) Build a proper club shop at the ground instead of that pishy wee box room in the Ormond. Embarrassing for a Premiership club. 6) Tidy up the toilets and, as HSF suggests, adjust the temperature of the water accordingly so it doesn't feel like you are putting your hand into molten lava when you wash your hands.

Jesus, I thought the banter page was bad but when you see folk on P&B genuinely entertaining the idea of a new stadium then alarm bells for me are ringing. In short: this is madness. 1. There is nothing wrong with McDiarmid Park. This isn't some ancient terraced stadium built 100 years ago, it's only 35 years old. Does it need some TLC - absolutely, I've been saying this for years. New seats, improved concourses, better facilities. There is no reason why the current stadium couldn't be refurbished a bit to bring it up to a better standard. 2. Folk are saying they want the ground in or near the city centre pull the other one will you. Where would a new stadium go in the city centre? The Inch, on a floodplain? A huge loss of public greenspace? Non-starter. The only place (which has been discussed here before) is the old railway yard by Tulloch. Apparently however the ground there is toxic, something to do with its industrial past - so is not a viable option from what I've been told. Other than that there is nowhere to put a new stadium in or near the city. Nowhere. The reality is we are looking beyond Perth, further than where McDiarmid is already. If that were to happen then we are fucked. there is no way, no way in hell, that folk will traipse out to the countryside for Saints games. It's hard enough to attract people as it is. 3. On the capacity, I will not accept sub 10,000 capacity. Nobody should accept this. Previous games in Europe in the not so distant past have shown that we are capable of selling out McDiarmid. I would be sickened if we lowered ourselves to a 8000 seater diddy ground like St Mirren Park. Dundee are building a bigger ground than Dens - they have ambition and clearly believe that in the future they can draw bigger crowds to home games. We should be thinking the same, we have to be ambitious. The fans are there. There's even a guy here saying he wants LESS than 8000! No way man, no way. f**k that shit. If there is any truth in these rumours of us getting a new stadium then we should all be gravely concerned. It's an utterly ridiculous idea. Even if a new stadium included plans for a wine bar let me tell you there is no volume of mulled wine in the world that will change my mind.

The only people who didn't see this coming are all the wee gimps in the fb comments sections saying Scottish Football needs to embrace the modern game and adopt VAR or risk get left behind etc etc. These folk are probably egg chasers who don't attend football games.
