  1. Bottle of Samuel Smith's Organic Chocolate Stout in GROcoffee at Irvine Harbourside. Fiver a bottle but it's lovely and it is my birthday :-)
  2. I would probably struggle to fit into that jacket at the moment Enjoyed that spell on the beer but losing the weight again isn't going to be as pleasurable. Done 14 miles along the coast on the bike earlier, came home panting like an old horse and first thing I did was open the fridge for a beer. Took a bit of will power to put it back and have water instead.
  3. Hit my target last night of 365 unique beers for the year with this .... 5.2% abv golden ale from Ayr Brewing Co. Not my favourite from this local brewery but it's a bit of a grower. Slightly bitter from start to finish. Very pale but quite refreshing. Would be nice in a late summer evening beer garden session. Now that I've hit my target it's time to hit the gym and cut down on the beer :-(
  4. Now having a pint of Hogan's Cider Hazy Daisy. Still, cloudy and tasting of apples. Definitely not Strongbow then.
  5. Just finished a pint of this in the Auld Brig. Number 362 in my bid to drink 365 unique beers/ciders this year.
  6. Back on the Clyde Puffer. Keg must be about empty :-(
  7. I usually just rate them as normal but add in the comments something along the lines of 'missed rating'. Seems to be the done thing on Untappd.
  8. Pint of Arran Brewery Clyde Puffer in the Auld Brig. Lovely stuff.
  9. Just bought a bottle of this in Aldi. Chillin' in the fridge for later. Anyone tried it yet? Drygate Seven Peaks Mosaic Ale
  10. Having a Southern Rock cocktail in Hard Rock Cafe, Glasgow. Mrs Mighty Meadow is paying for a change.
  11. Went into the new coffee place at the Harbourside in Irvine yesterday called GRO coffee. Had a lovely coffee but noticed on the menu they were also doing bottled beers and ciders. Had 2 bottles from the Black Isle Brewery, Pollinator Heather Honey Beer and Scotch Ale. Both very decent and in this lovely setting went down a treat. Got speaking to the owner who was very passionate about his coffee but was equally happy to talk about his beers. I was telling him we would be back down on friday as we we were going for a family meal at the Ship Inn just along the road and also in the same conversation told him that I had tried a few Black Isle beers in the past but always wanted to try their porter which I haven't found in any shops yet. The guy wrote down the beer and said that was 2 beers he had been asked for and would have them in for me returning at the end of the week. If he keeps his word I can see this being a regular place for me to visit.
  12. Toasting some unseasonal Scottish sunshine with a bottle of Cairn o' Mohr raspberry wine bought from the winery last month.
  13. Thanks to a wee visit to Kilmarnock on Monday my total of unique beers for the year now stands at 306. A pint of Peter's Well by Houston by Houston Brewing Co. in the Wheatsheaf (Wetherspoons) took me to 300. Was thinking of having a week or 2 off the beer since I'm well on my way to the target of 365 but I've got a wedding coming up soon so I've put that idea on hold for now .
  14. Got a few bottles at the Village Store in Luss recently, Southern Summit, Maid of The Loch and Peat Smoked ale. All very different but all lovely. Had a couple of pints in First Edition, Kilmarnock on Monday. Silkie Stout which is an old favourite. Dark and full of flavour, well worth checking out. The other was the Bonnie n Blonde that you mentioned. I've had a few others in the past, Kessog Dark Ale, The West Highland Way, The Ale of Leven, Simcoe Hop Trial and Brave Hop Dark IPA. Not had a bad one yet from this brewery.
  15. 500ml bottle of Bow Fiddle Blonde by Speyside Craft Brewery from Aldi. Nice, refreshing golden ale. Nothing to write home about but decent enough. On the butter side.
  16. Bottle of Arran ID takes my total of unique beers for the year to 271. Lovely black IPA, full of flavour although a little bit lacking in hops if anything.
  17. Wee pint of Brains SA in the Auld Brig. Reasonable session ale.
  18. Pint of Hook Norton / Ballast Point San Diego Pale Ale collaboration for wetherspoon's takes my quest for 365 unique beers in 2015 to 261. Others I have had recently were Titanic Brewery Desert Hero. One of the best beers I have tasted in a long time. Lots of fruity mat going on. Both above were from the Prestwick Pioneer (Wetherspoons) on Tuesday. Earlier that day I had a couple of pints from Harviestoun over in Troon. First up was Schiehallion in Fullartons. Described as a pale lager, I've only ever had it bottled before, it was a perfect thirst quencher for a hot day. Later I had a pint of Bitter and Twisted in McKays. Cracking wee pub with a warm welcome and a large beer garden which is dog friendly. The pub ticked all the right boxes but the beer was slightly disappointing, not quite as hoppy as I remember it in bottled form. Few others I've had recently ... Inveralmond Rascal London Porter in the Wetherspoons pub in Blairgowrie last week. One of my favourite styles of beer and a great brewery to boot this was never going to be anything less than excellent. Dark Age by the Celt Experience and Knockendoch by Sulwath Brewery, both at the Salt Cot last Saturday.
  19. Golden Ratio is a nice, wee golden ale. At 4% ABV it's a perfect session beer for a summer's night (if we ever get a summer). Little bit of sweet fruits to the fore and a subtle citrus finish. Perfect Storm could possibly be my new favourite Williams Bros. beer. If you like Joker you should like this. Hoppy all the way through. Very refreshing. Above bottles were £1.49 each in Aldi.
  20. If you ever see it I recommend trying the Clyde Puffer Special Reserve (matured in Arran whisky casks). It's a bit more expensive than the original version but well worth it. I got a bottle in Robbie's Drams (Ayr) last month.
  21. Nipped into Aldi on way home from work and found these two Williams Brothers beers. Just about to try the Golden Ratio first. Will let you know how they taste later.
  22. Can of lemon Sanpelligrino in The Fair on Blair in Blairgowrie.
  23. Pint of Arran Sunset in the Auld Brig. Barrel just on, got first pint of it so really fresh. Always a good pint.
