  1. Not only in the Sun but I see he snuck into the first 10 seconds of Sons TV coverage of Stranraer game .
  2. You should be worried as I was about to post something similar, like we had John Cushley he was a great player but a clogger .....
  3. Hope you had Catapult each way! Just missed out in a massive payout but had it each way and the exacta and trifecta so can’t complain too much
  4. What a performance by Newspaper of record. Got it 7/5 and impossible at 5/4 so nice start.
  5. I’ll stick my neck out ! Hard to see by the favourites in the 4rth and 6th races. Though each way concrete rose in the 6th and each way Forty under in the 8th. Catapult each way tomorrow in the Mile @33/1s
  6. “Naw, that’s noo true. Naebody wid be stupid enough to loan Lewis Vaughan tae Dumbarton and keep them up at oor cost. You agree Gary ?”
  7. Agree, if true. Well done Stevie and board for actioning early. Good statement of intent and now everyone really needs to fully get behind them all on Sunday.
  8. Good to see you . While they are getting on, they put on a great show. Good to see them really enjoying themselves especially nicely n’ sleazy. Baz looked quizzically at the small enclave at the front blasting out Always the Sons. Now for the next big gig on the 24th in Perth !
  9. Warming up with beers in Dumbarton Road . Can’t wait .
  10. No need for bribes just get The Moonster to ask his good Buddie.
  11. Maybe but all the more reason for the boys to be looking up the way rather than down the way. Well done to Stevie and the team for manager (team) of the month but let's use that as belief 4th is there for the taking. And I am unusually sober [emoji1]
  12. Irrespective of what happened, here's a great opportunity to create some atmosphere and attract much needed involvement with a younger fan base. Sure it might annoy a few but we could get a section at the back corner of the stand and let them make as much noise and have as much fun as they want. We can accommodate without upsetting people. I'm sure the Trust rep will be doing his upmost as always to get a sensible outcome. I'm sure there is a solution and the board will help.
  13. Now I know that Scottish football hasn't been blessed with the greatest centre-halves in recent times, but I'm assuming I'm not the only one who didn't think he was brilliant with us? I mean, he did a job. He was a fantastic athlete, quick, tall, strong, fantastic in the air, but given time with the ball at his feet he was God awful. Certainly not a patch on Stuart Findlay, who has to be the benchmark for loanee defenders. http://www.scotsman.com/sport/football/teams/rangers/ross-mccrorie-great-expectations-for-club-and-country-1-4565764 Some comments from Oor Christian as well as a highly regarded blogger being quoted [emoji6]
  14. Coincidentally, I watched the BT documentary on Sean Fallon tonight and amongst other insights they covered the Cruyff link. How he (SF) had been out in Amsterdam and came back with just clogs. Apparently JC was seriously considering the move but let us down gently by saying the weather was too cold ! Mainly about Fallon's background and Celtic career but a bit about Dumbarton and was said Stein tried to talk him out of going to Boghead. Good contributions from ex Sons Pat McCluskey, Joe Coyle, Donald "Don" Watt and Graeme Sharp. The first three being ex Celtic players. Interesting watch, though warning there are "contributions" from Charlie Nicholas.
  15. While I can understand managers thoughts, especially with big squad changes, using these as friendlies, I disagree with the approach. If I was the club I would say to Stevie, look we've budgeted for say 3rd place in the section £15k. Get us through to second round or QF and all winnings maybe any extra 15k and 35k goes straight into players budget. Gates etc go to club unless we get a good draw in future round and we give a further % to the playing budget. Good target. If unsuccessful no change to budget if successful everyone wins.
  16. There is no way I would stay at one of their hotels. Did he not see some of the stuff they did in Syria ?
  17. Stranglers Saturday night Wailers Thursday night. Made an old fart really happy. Thank you.
  18. I couldn't get home to change so had to go in my top, thankfully a black one ! If Carlsberg made Saturdays this would be it. Seeing a performance like that in the afternoon. A few beers with the family. Seeing a performance like that in the evening. Meeting Boghead Ranter for the first time - sorry we didn't get to chat it was a bit noisy. My ears are still ringing. Then meeting Optimistic for the first time, thanks for the lift pal. They may be getting on a bit but you can't beat the old classics and good to go to a concert where you don't look old ! As we were singing/ shouting........... There's Always the Sons!
  19. Good post. The other point is how many times we are coming from behind to get something out the game or at least get back in it, I don't think players get enough credit for that. I can't remember who was in charge Paul Martin or Gerry McCabe but there was a long period where if we went behind it was all over. All the more impressive given the higher standard today.
  20. The sooner we bring in the modern day equivalent of "gee us a lifty over" the better. We need to figure out how we fund free entry for Under 16's or maybe U18' s for to keep the medium to long term future of club viable. Maybe linked to one adult and 2 go free. Self funding in the long run in many cases.
  21. Given all the recent nonsense about Sons favouring one cheek over the other, do you think they went too far balancing the bench yesterday by inviting the balaclava from the other side ?
  22. Delighted for both of them especially given what happened in the cup. It would have been easy to chuck it, so fair play to the boss and the team for the response in December. Don't know sparky but was really impressed with his interview on Sons TV after the Dundee United game. Well done and congrats to both.
  23. Apparently Ex players upset as well, Ian Black and Joey Barton suspended their Coral accounts in protest
