  1. I was talking about Caley Thistles stand. It was CityDave you brought the Celtic main stand into it & I merely replied. Apparently it's my fault for not ignoring or agreeing with an opinion. Modern day forums eh!
  2. Remember being in there in the 90's to watch Thistle beat us. Remember walking up the stairs near to the fence that segregated both fans & it was like walking up a Ski Slope with the big angled stairs. Old school being able to walk around behind the goals.
  3. Call it support if you want but I think it'd be a good thing to maybe wish us well in Europe until such time as maybe we are a direct threat to you.
  4. I agree with you. We only came out after Aberdeen & Dundee Utd spoke out. In terms of the 11 clubs outwith Rangers, we were one of the first in that case. I was disappointed with my board in not leading the way & have to give great credit to Aberdeen & Utd for how they stood strong on this front. Even now the Celtic board continue to disappoint. I'm not beating a Killie fan with that stick though. Just saying it as it is. Their club were the biggest shitebags during that period & our fans haven't forgotten it. No doubt if we can clinch a title there though, many will put their moral stance to the side. Right get back on track....I'm a wee bit of a stadium lover too lol.
  5. Celtic & Rangers are different to the rest. A strong Rangers are a match for Celtic and therefor a threat but not being disrespectful here but the reality is that even Hearts & Aberdeen are not a match for Celtic over the course of a season. The past 2 seasons Aberdeen have apparently challenged Celtic & yet we won the league by 17pts & 15pts respectively. That's with us having a poor side and clueless manager. So if they can't do it in those circumstances, is an extra £20-30m going to really change much in the grand scheme of things? Also it means St Johnstone, Motherwell etc are not going to get closer with or without the money either so would it do their fans any harm to wish us well so that they can get the extra money that comes their way as well as the co-efficient points. Plus if our fans are turning up in good numbers then this will have a knock on affect like we seen at McDairmid recently when we filled both our stands, something we haven't done in a while.
  6. How am I the one derailing it? I'm responding to comments made. Get a grip. Ssssshhh stop derailing the thread. Although I am a tip top guy Nope, just a sensible debate would be nice instead of people adopting their positions & feeling it's beyond them to give credit where it's due. Just look at the European threads as an example. Celtic fans all wishing the other clubs well. Was it reciprocated? Nope...only a very small number of decent posters did. The majority were too spiteful.
  7. Hence why I said I was being hazy with it as I was trying to remember & in no way passing it off as a fact, although you have clearly taken it as a fact. I clearly said "about 5000". So that's a ballpoint figure. You have just selected 3 games to suit your argument. If you maybe look at say the last 10-12 games & give our average then you'd get a more accurate reflection. Again, reminding you I never said an exact 5000 & the fact that according to fans of smaller clubs on here who have at several times in the past said, a lot of their own fans tend to give games against us & Rangers a miss when we play them as they can't bear to be around us...their excuses, not mine...then who knows how many Killie fans are there. Certainly less than the visiting fans. Yes I do & I think it's a silly way to decide a good or a bad away support. For a start if we were to bring down about 25% of our home support, where would you put us? Secondly is that exactly 25% of Motherwell's support or are you accepting it as "about" unlike how you did with my claim? Are they all season ticket holders though. As you know they need to be in order to apply for tickets for away games. The next time I'm making any "facts" I will. I was clearly speaking roughly, but you decided to seize on an opportunity to try & get all high & mighty. We bring over 4,000 fans to your stadium. If you want to post a novel arguing over the difference of a few hundred in the past few games, then fair enough. Now you're arguing with me...despite me clearly stating I don't agree with that argument that some Celtic fans put forward. Wow! Oh & as a season ticket holder, I personally won't be shelling out £49 for this game & have no issue with any Johnny come lately's from being charged that. Unlike yourselves, I'm glad to see our glory hunters being charged for coming out the woodwork.
  8. Was thinking that myself but wasn't 100%. Sure enough I'd have said that then 2 mins later somebody would've presented a 20 page dossier 5 mins later to prove otherwise
  9. You know that's not true though. We sell out one stand and there are a thousand or so fans in the other stand with the banners. Many Celtic fans refuse to go to Rugby Park due to Killie being vocal in their opposition to the The Rangers not being elevated straight into the top flight of Scottish football & eventually when more voices came out in opposition, could still only bring themselves to abstain at best so they could attempt to keep more visiting fans on-side. Plus there is many who are sick of Killie bumping the prices up for our fans (although given our prices are comparable for Killie fans, it's not an argument I agree with). I'm a bit hazy with this but was there not a case of Killie previously handing over a 3rd stand to Rangers but then refusing to do the same for Celtic? Either way given we roughly bring about 5,000 fans to your place, it's just plain silly to suggest we are one of the worst fans to visit RP, proportionately or otherwise.
  10. I'm a nice kinda guy, mate Contrary to what people on here think.
  11. Fair play to you then mate. I doff my hat at you. Especially since Killie are one of the poorest travelling supports to Celtic Park and they're only 30-40 mins down the road. So fair play to being one of the few. I'm also with you on the absent fans on our own side. They do my head in too mate. The same ones who moan about the club not spending money, but who don't turn up to put the money in unless they get the big names signed.
  12. That's what I mean mate. It came about because originally neither side was big enough to stand up to the firms from Glasgow, Edinburgh & Aberdeen so they combined forces. Just curious what they do, if anything when they meet each other. Can never get my head round going to watch your rival team every 2nd week. I'd been up there a few times and didn't realise that's why it was like that. Only found out a few years ago myself thanks to the wonders of t'internet Just don't understand why they didn't make it a straight stand.
  13. I also pointed out it's only some of the seats down that's affected due to the gradient. The back section of the lower tier is ok as is the upper tier. Don't have to be filthy rich to sit in there. I know plenty of working class guys who do. I'd personally love to see us build a new main stand or carry out work that would do away with the pillars, & any restricted view to home & away fans as well as offer fantastic seats from everywhere in the stand. No doubt that wouldn't go down well with the away fans who'd need to find a new excuse for not turning up to Paradise.
  14. Just one of a few reasons I gave. It's no less a contributing factor though.
  15. I've always wondered what their casuals do when they play one another. Remember watching a programme...prob the one with Danny Dyer, & seen that the Casuals from Dundee & Utd realised they were too small when bigger firms came to town so they joined forces & watched whoever was at home that weekend so they had a bigger firm. What do they do when they face each other? Anyone know?
  16. It's not a case of being defensive. It's s forum, people have different opinions. CityDave made S comment saying the main stand at Inverness was superior to the one at Celtic Park. His opinion & fair enough but on an open forum, opinions are there to be challenged are they not? I disagree with most of that opinion & gave my reasons why. I fail to see why you have taken issue with that. Should we just accept every opinion we disagree with. Not sure it's the best way for a forum to work though.
  17. Don't get yer knickers in a twist. It's not a pot shot & it's in line with the title. Dens isn't my favourite quirk but I've seen plenty of people criticise other grounds on this thread without you spitting the dummy. If you want to pull me up for it then at least be consistent otherwise don't single myself out, ...please??
  18. Another main stand that irritates me is the one at Dens Park. I know it's bends in because it takes the shape of the road outside but why did they feel they had to? Could they not have just built it straight? Just another wee curiosity there. I know there is talk of Dundee moving & TBH it's not a bad idea as Dens Park is a bit of a dump but it would be disappointing to see an end of the two grounds being on the same street. It's a fantastic wee oddity.
  19. I've never been in it so I'm not knocking it for practicality, just for the look of it alone. I just don't like a part of it being covered then both wings of it, uncovered. I disagree that it is superior to the main stand at Celtic Park. That's just a crazy comment. Given that the main stand at Celtic Park can accommodate roughly as many fans as the entire Tulloch Caledonian Stadium can, makes it superior already. I agree that 'some' of the seats in our main stand are not great due to the gradient, these are only in some of the front section but about halfway up from the front it is a lot better. The seats in the upper section have no problems at all & offer a fantastic view. So I'd say there are far more good seats in our main stand than is in the main stand at Caley. Then when you throw in the Sky Box, executive boxes, etc, it makes it a superior man stand. It's all about opinions though.
  20. Good spot. Really need to stop expecting the predictive text to sort itself out on here. Will go & edit lol
  21. Lovely city but not a stadium I like. That side that is as good as empty then that weird main stand just looks horrid.
  22. An interesting piece on Celtic's old floodlights. http://www.thecelticwiki.com/m/page/Celtic+Park+-+The+Floodlights
  23. Talking of the old floodlights got me back thinking about the old Celtic Park floodlights. Used to love them & could see them from miles around. Loved seeing them lit up in the Sky as a wee boy from my area just 2 miles away & could actually hear the songs & cheers of goals being scored from there. Got me wondering if they were the tallest floodlights in Scotland. Certainly looked like it, although Hampden might well be a contender. Anyone of the stadium geeks know?
  24. I certainly didn't. Can also see the floodlights of the new National Hockey Arena from my seat. Those floodlights threw me for a bit trying to work out what it was.
