It's that the wee fannies that were shouting abuse at gate staff when I was waiting to get in. About 20 of them all dressed in black. Pathetic.

Thought a draw would have been about right today, not clinical enough and just for a change a goal coming from a set piece.

Yet we had no problem letting Beggars supporters leave / return at half time with drink and threaten stewards.

Sad day when we are turning away our own supporters - what do they say about not judging a book by its cover?

Not a great game, but a win is a win. Not a great wee rose team compared to years gone by. Thought Hunter did well at half time, the switch to back 4 was the right thing to do, though why Lithgie changed to the long ball was beyond me. Tranent loosing again makes it a good weekend for us. 1-1 at half time was a fair result, but we definitely deserved the win. But that’s 5 games without a win for the rose, and I can see why if they play like that. Both teams were no angels today, but the rose were lucky to finish with ten men. 3 games left, onwards and upwards.

Agree with much of this, however I'd add that today's game was played by 2 very ordinary teams, with the Beggars probably just about deserved the win.

He’s really coming on. Looking forward to seeing him next season after we’ve had a good break and preseason!

Needs to add goals now but getting the chances and playing well.

Hopefully he adds same amount of  goals as another Rose 10 who started slowly on the scoring front.

Massive game today for a largely very inexperienced Rose side at LL level and who haven't been scoring of late.

Went to the game on Saturday, thought Laurie Devine was one of your better players which was good to see, involved in a lot going forward.  Good to see him progressing.  MOTM was your keeper who stopped it being two or three to Hearts in the first half.

He has certainly performed well in games that I've watched.  Just needs a few goals as a reward.

Saturday was a good watch and agree Binnie was certainly responsible for keeping us in touch.

Been a strange season, blighted by injuries and inability to field a team without reliance on young loanees to help out what already is a very young inexperienced squad.

Brilliant day out at Linlithgow on Saturday. Welcomed with open arms, not many social clubs you can get lost and struggle to get a seat and they have three large rooms. What a Brilliant set up. Ground and pitch superb. Great to visit a football club with history and not a football team with no fans. Bar area was still full when we left at 6.30 ish. Lovely pubs on the Main trek to the station also. ( forgot to mention the awesome soup and pie - delicious ! ).

Rovers battled away and I thought our three 1 on 1 missed chances had cost us when we blatantly handled the ball in the box at the end - ref was right in front of it !  100% a pen. See you next season!

    Glad you enjoyed your visit.

Whilst not there on Saturday, games with 2 decent set of supporters in attendance, will always make for a good day.

Unfortunately as you say this scenario is unusual rather than the norm - far to many teams in LL with no support or history and such games the atmosphere often feels similar to a friendly opposed to a competitive fixture.

Sad that Bo’ness a en Albion Rovers are letting the side down here as they’ll have one if the bigger gates. What’s going on there?

An average over 500, Imagine if we were playing well..!!!

We have a squad of 18 (exc loans) and 4 out on loan.

Id expect this to be trimmed further. Lowland league has been a tough step up. I make about 11 of our squad are Lowland League standard, with 4 too early to tell.

The rest good EOS Prem players but short of what’s needed at this level and that reflects our position. I wouldn’t expect any of the four out on loan to make the grade either.

From Saturday's game I'd reckon, only 3 or 4 looked good enough for LL.

Although a couple may progress with more experience at this level. At times, we look a very inexperienced side.

Would certainly like to see some experienced additions to replace our recent departures.

cracking player on his day, few too many injuries this year I feel though.

Letting him go certainly doesnt help the Rose injury front however

Strangest part is a month or so ago he signed a contract extension - so clearly money offered was far to good to refuse.

I read suggestion that our squad is now around 16 which includes several loans and long-term injuries. In addition we have 4 players out on loan.

Certainly well short of personnel in all areas of the squad.

Getting rid of East Kilbride through the Club 42 playoff would help make next season wide open on the league title. Suspect it's impossible because of what's unfolded over the last few years and if so this definitely isn't a criticism but having some sort of "merger" with Bo'ness Athletic would be another obvious next step if the goal is to get into the SPFL and stay there.

    A merger makes perfect sense.

At the moment it looks like one club with drive and ambition and then you have United stuck in the 80's.

  10. Whilst I wasnt there yesterday - I think the summary from Herd at the end was very accurate on our whole season.

A few highs followed by numerous lows in games which you would reasonably expect to win -  Bo'ness Athletic and Whitburn as prime examples.

For me our recruitment has not been as effective as in previous seasons.

Not forgetting injuries which have also played a major part in our ability to field a settled team.

Overall I think Herdy and John have done a great job - and will have as back to our best next season.

Alright there gents, doing a pub crawl through Linlithgow soon enough, however a question about the pubs.

We're starting at The Bridge Inn, is Battisons next to it a seperate pub?

Battisons / Brig Inn is more food orientated than drink and expensive. It is also probably a mile away from next pub.

If you came via train - you have Platform 3, Post Office, Wine Bar, 4 Mary's and Cafe 1874(?) all within 150 yards.

A short walk you then have Footies and Crown then another short walk to Black B*tch (willow tree) and West Port.

At that point try Rose Club or walk a mile to Battisons.

Never played any football until the subs came on. Thought we could have changed it at half time, Hambrook and Simpson didn't offer very much. Mckenzie was found out with the size of the park but that was obvious in the first half with no support for him from the midfield.

Disappointed with the result but nobody to blame but ourselves.

We were a far better team when Jamie Allan was introduced - he gave us the momentum and strength we lacked - his continued absence from our starting line-up is a mystery.

Whilst much has been said about our injury woes of late - we still have a tendency to chop an change our starting line-up and every so often it backfires like yesterday.

  13. Club statement

    🌹🌹 Davie Roy MBE 🌹🌹

This evening, we've had the sad news of the passing of Davie Roy.

The word "legend" is overused in football but there is no other word to describe Davie in terms of his impact on football in Linlithgow and across Scotland.

Davie assumed the role of secretary at the club in 1959 and held the post for over 50 years. In that time, he built Linlithgow Rose up from its lowest ebb to the pinnacle of junior football. Of course, no man is an island and a great many people have contributed to the development of the club, but everyone who has played a part in the running of the Rose over the last 60+ years will take a step back to acknowledge and reflect on the commitment and energy of Davie Roy.

As a past president of the SJFA, Davie has supported others across the country. He had a great enthusiasm for and affinity with the Junior football fraternity. Countless club officials will testify to the support he has given. He'll be as sadly missed by his very many close friends across the game as he will by those of us at his beloved Linlithgow Rose.

Finally, for now, Davie was a family man. He'd been unwell over the last wee while and was well looked after by Jacqueline and Pat. At this time, our thoughts are with Jacqueline, Pat, Nicole and all his friends and family as they, and we, come to terms with the end of an era.

Hail The Gallant, Davie - yours was a life well lived. And we're all the better for having known you.

Hand raised, a push around the throat area, then crumple to the ground holding his face.

    Typical footballer reaction.

It looks no more than a tussle, but when you raise your hands you give the ref a decision to make.

Donkey rolling about like a prima donna probably influenced the decision.

Heard Bohessian saying he wants 5k a week like they pay at EK

Was looking forward to the Wee Rose finally managing to get promoted as missing the derby games, but my god, the bunch of moaning numpties they bring with them. You should feel pity for people who only get a sense of superiority from other people’s efforts.

    Oh the irony..!!

That wee team who continue to evolve, within the security of their own ground and social club.

Time you realised you ain't even the biggest team in Bo'ness anymore

  16. It was good to see that Bo'ness Athletic are at least trying to make some changes towards the Falkirk and District stadium after years of neglect from the previous tenants.

A very poor game overall ruined by the ref needing to consult Gemmell on every decision - but did well when Gemmell went off and left him in sole charge.

The big 9 from the Beggars looked like his last role was a nativity play which he was the donkey.

Lennon was the stand out performance from an otherwise dull game.

Hopefully Saturday will serve up a better match.

  17. Despite the appalling conditions, I thought both teams served up an excellent watch.

Linlithgow were excellent and handled the robust approach of Broomhill very well.

Sneddon dished out and took plenty in return so was delighted to see him get the winner.

Defensively I thought Lennon and Thom were excellent and handled the conditions very well.

  18. It's not just B Teams that are the problem but the LL itself.

A league with no credibility, starting with 1 relegation spot for 3 feeder leagues to fill the one spot.

Since the beginning when membership was by application it hasn't evolved into a meaningful part of a working pyramid, merely a bottleneck.

But that said the SFA aren't exactly helping the evolution of Scottish football either.

What an absolute minter asking fans to pay a boys operation whilst you have a squad of about 200, are signing guys from three tiers above on loan and are burning money.

Aye and paying them £5k a week according to some posters....!!! 😎

Clearly players welfare not within budget.

I thought we forced some good saves from him in a blood and thunder cup tie.

I think we will be fine the rest of the season and get sorted for next year.

I don't think anyone could have seen the injuries that we have add after next to zero pre season.

Unfortunately, next year is now the focus after today's cup exit.

Plenty to build upon, but that can't happen till the injuries start to clear up and players return to provide options.

Will be enthusiastic and keen to impress I hope.  Increase competition and bodies needed after getting rid of the two midweek

    Definitely.

Hoping we now add some experience to help which is a very inexperienced squad at present.

See we've signed a striker on loan from East Fife according to Facebook page.

Calum Hambrook an 18 year old from East Fife, ex Hearts. Suggestion he is an attacking midfielder.

Played 4 games and pushed out on loan.

Not sure another inexperienced player to the squad is ideal - but fingers crossed he adds something to the current squad.

Much better today. Played some nice stuff and got stuck in when needed as well.

Ref and main stand linesman were awful but still better than the Shire. Probably worst team the Rose have played all season.

Agree, Shire are the poorest team that we have played in a long while.

After Tuesday today's opponents were perfect to help us get back some confidence.

Unfortunately today maybe only papered over a few cracks and we are still way short until we start getting players back from injury.

The return of Gary Thom did help to steady the ship and provided some much needed leadership.
