  1. Think it was @David Fernández who pulled his name from the Consillium sweepstake previously. Fills a positional gap we needed to fill and if, as McCabe says, he can play in a few positions that could be particularly useful with our run of games coming up. A bit of height won’t go amiss either. Airdrie for All-In 2025 @cb_diamond?
  2. Realised today that we’re due to play Raith the weekend of the Challenge Cup final. So whatever happens we’ll have another midweek away game to play, which is annoying.
  3. We weren’t 100% sure on the podcast chat but, is Josh Rae suspended for the cup semi-final? With Lyall cup-tied we’re down to the bare bones.
  4. It’s a shame that the cup semi-final coincided with a league game at Arbroath. Looking at their team and bench yesterday I’d have fancied us even with our own injuries. Agreed on needing another centre forward. We probably needed one anyway but think after yesterday it’s a bit of a must. McGregor did about as well as he could be expected to, and he was unlucky not to get in behind a couple of times. And O’Connor actually had a couple of nice touches when he came on. But they’re either not a proper centre forward or good enough yet to be playing in that position at this level and I never feel like we’re carrying much of a goal threat when they are.
  5. I wonder if Lyall can play upfront? Might be worth a go if he can. Do understand your logic. Gabby’s pressing and link-up play have been essential parts in getting us up the park and enabling our recent winning run. But, even if O’Connor can press the defence well with his pace, I just don't think he’s anywhere near technically good enough to start games upfront atm with every point being a prisoner. I don’t think McGregor is good enough at centre forward either FWIW.
  6. Planning to be there too. Looking forward to this. Always enjoy games v Thistle and this one should have a bit of an extra edge to it with both teams coming into the game in good form. I fancy us to give anyone a game at home but, if Gabby McGill and Gal both miss this one then I do fancy us a lot less. Will, presumably, necessitate a formation change which isn't ideal.
  7. I think getting a Monday off work is generally considered good news.
  8. The bad news is the game is on a Sunday evening. The good news is, I’ve got the Monday off work.
  9. Not taking any accusations of being racist/right-wing/far right from *Hearts* fans of all clubs.
  10. Even just the number of games we win at home in general. Feels like we've hardly lost at New Broomfield since that run late in the Covid season. Which is a stark change from our home record from probably every season playing there before that!
  11. What a brilliant day Saturday was. I wasn't that excited initially after the draw was made, but on the day itself it was fantastic having what felt like, and ultimately was, a big(ish) cup tie at the stadium. And as others have said, a fully deserved win against an established Premiership side. Nice that that's becoming a bit of a habit! Frizzell was the best player on the park, Telfer and Hancock were outstanding as they have been for months, Fordyce was never troubled by that big dumplin' Kimpioka or Stevie May and shoutout to Watson who ably replaced Megwa* and McMaster who came into the side after a few weeks out and strolled it. When we take a lead and maintain our shape I'm not sure I've ever seen an Airdrie team look so comfortable on and off the ball. St Johnstone never looked like scoring and I'm not sure Raith, Inverness, Morton or Queen's Park, penalty aside, did either. I'm buzzing to play Hearts. We shouldn't get carried away. It's the most difficult tie we could get outside the Old Firm but, they're not infallible and I'd fancy us to give anyone a game at home. More than anything else I'm looking forward to the sense of occasion it will bring to the town and the stadium. Hearts have never played competitively at New Broomfield so should bring a big crowd through. I just hope it's Saturday at 15:00 so we can really optimise the crowd and that sense of occasion. I could tolerate Saturday tea-time but Friday, Saturday mid-day, Sunday or Monday would be shite. My only worry after Saturday would be I hope Gabby and Gal's knocks aren't too serious. If they are then we'll need to bring in another forward or hope Lyall can play upfront because if we have to rely on O'Connor for any length of time we're goosed. Class to see Megwa at our game and celebrating with the players at full-time rather than up at Forfar*.
  12. Kanayo Megwa returns to Hibernian from Airdrie. And Arron Lyall joins Airdrie on loan from Rangers.
  13. If he’s Northern Irish then there’s every chance he’ll sign for us. Don’t know a lot about him but I believe he’s a winger and/or attacking midfielder. Both of which are positions we could do with strengthening in so a good bit of business at least from that perspective. Always especially hard to tell how good a young loanee will do. Tend to either be outstanding or anonymous, as we’ve seen already this season. I think he played against us in the Challenge Cup so McCabe maybe liked what he saw.
  14. Agreed, and unless it’s silly money being offered, assuming he develops as we hope, we’ll also get a better financial deal further down the line too.
  15. I’d heard last season that they were producing a commemorative kit but like you say, disappointing not to have it out and ready for the team and fans on Saturday. Getting it in time for the final will be dandy though The club’s new year tweet suggested that there will be events/occasions/memorabilia to mark the centenary. Hope we make a big deal of it as we certainly should celebrate what was a historic time for the club and town.
  16. Well if he’s anything to go by previous Leeds United youth players they’ll be recalling Megwa in no time Now there’s a club who haven’t done us a turn. The McKays (though I’ll always have a soft spot for Jack for that Cove goal), Eoghan Stokes and Luke Lyons. Think Josh Rae was on the books at Leeds so they got one right eventually.
  17. Don't think Murray ever really leveraged his Hibs connection when with us either, other than brief loan spells for Josh Campbell and Innes Murray. Fair to say we've done well out of them though with Murray Johnson, Murray Aiken and Megwa all shining the last couple of seasons. Josh O'Connor has struggled to make the same impact, unfortunately. If, as what ours and Hibs Tweets say, and what the general chatter seems to say, he only misses Saturday's game (and the cup game if necessary) that's manageable. Any longer than that though and with Ballantyne still out injured that could be an issue.
