  1. Still think we need another couple of midfielders for the starting XI also but otherwise happy enough with the presumed starters. Need a proper holding midfielder IMO and I'd like another attacking or more box-to-box type. Otherwise we're relying on one of Devenny, Aiken and Telfer to play and be good every week. Which could happen but Telfer has never really performed that consistently anywhere, Devenny is a cracking prospect but still raw and Aiken is a complete unknown. Hopefully Aiken and O'Connor turn out to be gems.
  2. Hard to know what to realistically expect or aim for until all squads are complete. I'm happy to have kept the core of last season's team but there's no doubting we still need some Championship quality/experienced additions across the park. As others have said, the aim at least initially has to be 8th which I would be happy with. If we do add some known quality that compares positively or better than other teams' then we can maybe start to aim a bit higher. But aye, top 8 please and thank you!
  3. Kerr is a player I really like. Really grew into his role the more he played and on his day looks more than capable of being a decent Championship level centre-half. Good defender and good with the ball at his feet, to the extent that we tried to convert him into a midfielder (which didn't work), albeit probably not as good as he thinks he is and as such, has the occasional brain fart. Kerr's problem though is that he's never fit for any sustained period of time. Which is probably why he's not playing at this level already. He played with us for 3(?) seasons and never completed a whole season without getting injured. I couldn't tell you what his longest run of games were but it can't be much more than a dozen if even that. Not sure if he left Bohemians for fitness related reasons. I hope he does find a club and it works out for him as he's too good a player to not be playing the game at all.
  4. I don't mind squad numbers but McGregor still having #8 when 7 and 11 were now available is poor IMO. I'm not worried about the squad at this point. We're probably in the strongest position quality and quantity wise that we've been in at this stage of a pre-season for a long time. And I think the desire that most fans, of all clubs, have to sign the entirety of their squad early is a bit overplayed. I understand the theory but I'm not convinced having your squad complete by the end of June makes that much of a difference compared to the middle-end of July. There's still what 5/6 weeks until the start of the league season? Plenty of time to get business done and ultimately it's the team that lines up at the start of the season that matters and which we can truly judge. I don't mind waiting for quality - assuming that is what's still to come! That being said, I'll obviously be raging if it's Ally Spalding the next time the pen comes out.
  5. Chris Malone modelling the new home strip whilst holding the season ticket card like a disgruntled resident in a local newspaper please.
  6. Not sure how many we normally sell but would like to think there will be an increase given the play-offs and our subsequent promotion. Obviously there's been a price increase and, while it's expensive, I actually don't think it's too bad value for money. £300 works out at about £16.60 per game plus there's the Club 1924 discount on top of that and free kids season tickets. The £20 admin fee for the latter is a nonsense though! And I don't think 16-17 year olds should be paying £180. But overall, I think it's probably fair.
  7. It’s a fantastic pic! Of a great duo. However, is Prunty wearing #4? #OwenOut if so.
  8. I’m just psyching myself up for the complete over-reaction however the NLL Cup goes next weekend.
  9. Probably Brownlie although McGregor has went on to have the better career. That being said, Brownlie’s da never posted on here any time someone said his laddie was shite so Brownlie on points.
  10. If we do sign him, I'm looking forward to some folk getting into a fizz because they've mixed him up with David Brownlie.
  11. I would take him. He's an experienced defender and, AFAIK, a decent defender at this level. Probably the sort of signing we need.
  12. Deveney was a frustrating player last season but also one with a lot of potential, who did a good job overall and played his part in us getting promoted. He was probably our most improved player from the start-end of the season and clearly benefited from playing regular first team football. I'd say he's better going forward than he is at defending. He gets himself into space well, can go up and down the park and can put in a brilliant cross and has a decent shot on him too. Defensively, I thought he struggled at times. I don't have any stats to back this up but it felt at points of the season that almost every goal we conceded came down his side. He'd often get beat far too easily, fail to stop a cross or just make the wrong decision. Equally, at times I thought he was one of our better or more reliable defenders (largely because most of our defence were rubbish for large parts of last season). He can be inconsistent from game-to-game but also even in moments within games. Like he'll get the ball and do the hard part well - beat 2 or 3 players, nutmeg another then inexplicably kick the ball out behind him with nobody around him. That probably reads more negative than I'd like as I do like him as a player and I thought he'd be a decent signing for most if not every team in League 1. As I said above, his improvement over the course of the season was great to see and he'd have been a genuine contender for YPotY had he not lost his place to Cammy Ballantyne. For Rice's faults he's clearly well thought of as a coach. If Deveney can get another full-season at left-back I believe he'll continue to develop and be one of the better left-backs in in the league. All the best to him. Can't fault him for effort or hard work.
  13. What I highly rate is Dunlop’s profile and cover photos on Twitter being him getting in amongst the celebrations at Falkirk and Hamilton in the play-offs. Wasn’t even signed let alone barely played like the likes of Joe Dixon and Big Byrd. You have to respect it!
  14. Underwhelming. But I expect he'll almost exclusively be with the reserves this season so I'm not hugely bothered either way. If he can contribute from the squad or beyond that then even better. That'll be nice bonus. McCabe is quick to get rid of you if you're not cutting it so if he's not good enough, I don't think we'll see anything of him at all. Clearly need more quality and experience across the park. Which going by the tenor of McCabe's recent press interview he agrees with. Hopefully that will come soon.
