  1. Thought the game was pedestrian until Dundee’s penalty, but it did liven up after that and ended up being a decent cup tie. Dundee were more physical than us, though we did compete well, but they never really created anything when they had the ball. Don’t remember Rae having a save to make and the defence dealt with their battles well. Ballantyne and ATS were particularly good IMO. I don’t think ATS has got the legs to play in the Championship every week, but there’s no doubting him brains or ability wise. Tiffoney was kept quiet which is easier said than done, barring his dive for the penalty. GIRUY Thistle rat Agreed with the positive comments on Aiken. He’s clearly raw and there were a few times he took the wrong option or was maybe in the wrong position. But there were other times where I thought he won the ball really well, his tackle from behind on Boateng in particular, and where he progressed play. I think he’s going to be your typical young player in terms of being up and down but I’m looking forward to seeing how develops as the season progresses. Gal and Frizzell both put in their typical shift and had some moments of good play. Frizzell is still a safe bet for being the best player on the park. Not convinced by McGregor or O’Connor yet as starters. They’re certainly not of the quality or consistency of Smith, yet. But there’s facets of both of their games that I like. I think O’Connor in particular looks as if he lacks a bit of confidence. Hopefully that will come with game time. Thought Colin Steven really lost the run of that game towards the end. Some odd booking decisions either way, including the bookings for Todorov and O’Connor. Great to have 6/6 points, two home wins and clean sheets and to be in the mix for the qualifying. Two positive results next week will hopefully see us there. For the first time since they re-introduced the group stages! A money-spinner tie could make a real difference RE the transfer budget.
  2. Good old Jackie It looked a dive from where I was sitting but TBF, Rae’s reputation does precede him!
  3. Think the new home kit is a beaut. Agreed that the stripes down the side look better in the worn pics. I like the neckline too. Friends with Football Nation again
  4. Big club mate From what I can find online Doncaster City are a new club and have a bit of money behind them to try climb the English pyramid. Signed a few players from tiers 5-7, including oor Jack McKay! Can’t say I’m convinced, but all for a trialist from a nonsense level coming on board. He’s also Kosovan which is cool/another good reason to sign him.
  5. Looks like the away kit has been leaked on Twitter. Red with a black diamond by the looks of things. The black top with a red diamond is always a favourite and I’m surprised they’ve never done the reverse before. It’s something I’ve always wanted them to go for so I’m looking forward to seeing it!
  6. He has a link to a YouTube highlights reel of himself on his Twitter profile. Sign him up! These players are never bad.
  7. I’ve always thought Watson might make a good captain or vice-captain but he, presumably, won’t play enough in the Championship to fulfil the role. Maybe doesn’t matter so much if he was vice-captain mind you.
  8. I think it was @Kenny_m who mentioned a fans’ fund being set up as a way of raising money for the budget. I just remembered the new SLO posted this about a week ago. Has this ever been explicitly or publicly stated about Club 1924 before? I don’t remember it if so. I’d think more folk would sign up to it if they knew the money was going towards the manager’s transfer budget?
  9. Well deserved award for Frizzell. I don’t know if it really matters all that much these days but nice recognition all the same. And I’ve always thought the players’ representatives being separate from the management team made more sense, as much as Fordyce is probably the ideal captain within this squad. Obviously a bit of a demotion for Gal but assume that might be because he’s part-time? Or they maybe see Todorov as the starting #9.
  10. Scullion is fucking rubbish I’m afraid. I see his family are already getting wide with folk on Twitter, and on further research, I see they did the same with any criticism of Liam. Bodes well!
  11. Yeah it’s probably as reasonable a draw we could hope to get. Two League 2 teams, probably the worst team in pot 1 and a team from our own league. Potentially going full #McCabeball at Ibrox or Parkhead gives me the fear
  12. Will probably be along those lines but it wouldn’t surprise me if Aiken and Todorov started in place of Devenny and Gal. Felt like they tried to replace Gal at the start of last season with Gabby starting through the middle, before Gal went on to have the best season of his career! It wouldn’t surprise me either if we stared the back 4 we ended last season with in - Watson Fordyce ATS Ballantyne But if Fellows is going to be in and around the squad we’re as well blooding him in against Dumbarton. I’ll miss the game so I hope it’s not as big a nonsense as the last two home games against them. I’ll go for 1-0 Dumbarton, their goal coming as a result of us messing around at the back, followed by complete over-reactions all over the shop.
  13. He’s clearly talking about Airdrie the town and it’s culture, cuisine, places of interest and educational institutions offering more than Greenock.
  14. Not sure if he’s still there but I noticed Caolan McAleer who was with us briefly under Bollan is listed in the Dungannon Swifts squad on their website.
  15. A shame it wasn’t organised/announced before now as it’d have been great to go over for it. The sort of outing friendlies should be for.
  16. He actually started in the League Cup game against yourselves. And barring a poor challenge early on acquitted himself fairly well. Suppose it makes sense to give him a trial seeing as he played in one of our only half decent performances against you last season!
  17. Well I’m pretty sure both Jay Riley and Alex Henderson came from Coleraine. So quite the conveyor belt of talent they’ve got
  18. Should have patched this Broadwood nonsense and played Coleraine in a friendly instead.
