  1. That same boy linked us with Connor Smith in an other post. He’s another player I’d be delighted to land. A huge upgrade on McGregor and O’Connor and he’s a bit ‘cute’ and streetwise in terms of his play which for me is exactly what we need. And he has a bit of quality too. IMO Wotherspoon and Smith are worth pushing the boat for with whatever budget we have left. Hopefully the League Cup money and any potential Devenny transfer might make a difference.
  2. I think that boy largely makes stuff up TBF but there might be something in the story as he had trained with us previously. And the club obviously has an unsaid relationship with Jackie McNamara and Consillium where Wotherspoon and a number of our players, including McCabe, are on the books. Clearly he’s holding out for something. I actually said to @Mr November on Saturday there’s no way it’s us he’s holding out for but if it does transpire that way I’ll be delighted!
  3. I don’t live in Airdrie so I’m by no means an expert but the aforementioned Cue Here and the Albert Bar (probably the closest to the ground in terms of town centre pubs) are both my preferred choices if I’m going out before or after the game. West End Bar is good too. Don’t know about food, think the Fourways is pretty good if you’re after a bar/restaurant type place albeit it’s a 25 minute walk to the ground from there according to Google Maps. I think the Staging Post in the town does food as well. There’s a new Lidl beside the ground where you should be able to park without any issues.
  4. I wouldn’t write either him or McGregor off. But they’re young and very inconsistent, both from game-to-game and within games, which by its nature means we can’t rely on them every week. They have their moments but need a lot of coaching and development time. In an ideal world, for me, they’d both be impact players. I think we need another forward/wide player anyway but if Todorov and Gabby are going to be out for a sustained period then we need one in ASAP as I don’t think it’s sustainable having them both start every week at the moment.
  5. Really good interview with Watson after the game. Can’t argue with any of what he says. Clearly recognises there’s a need to be adaptable in our play. It’s a cliche but hopefully some lessons learned for the squad and management that will ultimately better us in the long-run.
  6. Feels like a wasted opportunity. Had the lead, they had players out injured and they went down to 10. Thought we fell out the game after we scored. No real chances created and the only team we put under any sustained pressure was ourselves. But hopefully a few harsh but needed lessons learned today. Too much fucking around at the back, which only put ourselves under pressure and which they ultimately equalised from. Was bizarre seeing us with only Telfer and McCabe, neither of whom are defenders, in defence right as we gave the ball away and from which they scored. Need more variety in our playing out at the back. Fine to do it when it’s working but if not change it, or at least keep them guessing. I’d rather lose the ball in their half than our own box. And one of the few bits of pressure we put on them near the end came from a punt up the park. We made similar mistakes last season like we did today but the difference is we won’t get away with it as often in this league. Think we need another forward/wide option too, even when Gabby and Todorov are back. McGregor and O’Connor are both inconsistent and they fell out the game badly today. But we had zilch to change it. Even putting Devenny on out wide or putting him in the middle and moving Frizzell or Telfer out wide might have made a difference. Really need more depth in general. Hopefully Hancock will be ready next week as I thought ATS and Fordyce were far too slow both on the turn and on the ball. A really frustrating one as the opportunity for at least a point was there. Two home games coming up and we need to be taking points from both of them. Really don’t want to be playing catch-up for too long already.
  7. Ditto ourselves. With Hancock signing yesterday we’ll at least have a defender on the bench. But assuming McGill and Todorov are both out, and Devenny is still getting the cotton wool treatment, we won’t have anyone middle to front to bring on. Barring a couple of kids who haven’t featured yet so I’d be surprised if that changed today.
  8. Looks like he has a thing for saving penalties. Cue Benedictus slamming two past him tomorrow. He’s also played for four different countries at youth level which is just a good laugh.
  9. Can’t say I know much about him but a left-sided defender fits the bill nicely. Keeper for tomorrow next please!
  10. Ack you’re right really Jack. Definitely winnable and a chance to get through to the League Cup quarter-finals is a lovely prospect. Looking forward to putting Malky Mackay in the mud. Not only that, but maybe Zak Rudden shouldn’t have cleared his own first touch like he was playing centre-half for us!
  11. Winner* gets custody of David Wotherspoon. Will obviously be a draw.*
  12. I think Frizzell was suspended today, hence why he missed out, although obviously that doesn’t necessarily mean he doesn’t not have a knock either. I’ve heard Gabby’s injury isn’t too bad and he’s hoping/expecting to be back next week. Hopefully big Todorov is the same.
  13. Yeah I agree TBH. Saw this on the Facebook group. It’s a pretty crap reward for winning the group. Sure, it’s not that I don’t fancy our chances against any of these teams. Even the Premiership ones I think we’d at the very least give a game. But on the other hand, losing to a Livi or Ross County in front of a crowd no bigger than the ones we’ve played in front of already, is the worst possible outcome. And if we’re being frank, the most likely. They should do away with the seeding and just make it an open draw IMO. Good news about the prize money.
  14. 21/22 probably the one that’s competing with this season in terms of kits, at least off the top of my head.
  15. I’ve been a fan of the Football Nation kits, apart from last season, where the home kit was a disgrace and the away was a let down, but this year is maybe the best set of kits we’ve produced in a long time. Surprised we’ve never gone for the red with black diamond combination before, it’s a beaut! If the rumoured 1924 kit comes to fruition, I hope that is similarly excellent and befitting of such an occasion. Could be a real year to remember kit wise if so.
  16. Apologies, missed a few of steps. One of the Old Firm > sign Ally Roy > beat one of the Old Firm > prize and gate money > welcome back Mr McInroy > win the League Cup
  17. Surely you weren’t working/volunteering/performing your duties for QoS all the way back then? I do agree with your point though. Would be nice to make a tournament of it and make it something of a tradition.
  18. I’d rather take the payday now than at the end of September. Obviously getting an unseeded lesser team like Forfar, Stirling Albion or Falkirk would be great and something of a cup run would be exciting. But equally, we could get beat by a Raith, Morton or Livi at home in front of a smaller crowd than an average league game which is about the worst outcome possible. One of the Old Firm > prize and gate money > welcome back Mr McInroy
  19. Anyone heading along to Bellshill tonight? I won’t make it but hope it goes well. He is one of Airdrie, Scotland and the world’s best ever players after all. Hope it becomes an annual event and ideally played earlier in the season so we can send a proper team to it. *Announce Chelsea and Newcastle’s participation next season*.
  20. I do love that you hear the Inverness fans cheering as if they’ve scored right after his save.
  21. Has Euan East signed anywhere yet? If he wanted to try his luck elsewhere, presumably for better wages, he’s running out of options and time. Likewise I don’t think Darren/Agent O’Reilly has signed for a team yet? No idea if we were in for him or would be interested but he is the sort of centre-half we could do with. Brody Paterson? Centre-half and left-back has to be the priority although I still wouldn’t mind another midfielder, especially if Devenny does leave.
