  1. First impressions after last nights game. The defence aren't going to lose much. I don't think you'll get much better at this level. The boy from Brighton looks really composed and passing was excellent. Don't think that's going to be our first choice midfield. Sadly the trialist had a poor game. Caught in possession too often and too many miss placed passes. Might have just been a off game but based on that performance I wouldn't be signing him. Midfield looked much better when we made some substitutions. Especially when Hawkshaw came on. Think he could be a really big player for us this season. Up front Russell and Gallagher were decent and had a few chances. Although the man of the match for me was Roy (and not just because he's a Glenmavis boy ). Great work rate, strong and willing to run at defenders all day. When him and Carrick went up front they were causing their defence all sorts of problems with their work rate. Early days but seen enough to be quietly confident we could do alright this season.
  2. Airdrieonians 2 - 0 Albion Rovers Roy and Crighton our scorers.
  3. Airdrieonians v Albion Rovers tonight 7:45pm at New Broomfield.
  4. I think you've always got to be cautious about other fans views on players. It sometimes just doesn't work out for certain players at certain clubs. We've signed players in the past that have had a good reputation and they've been useless with us. Conversely, we've signed players that other fans think are rubbish and they've been decent with us. Just have to wait and see how they pan out and hope that Murray & Miller have got it right.
  5. I'd disagree with Passionate. I really liked him in the middle of the park. Felt Airdrie's best performances came when he was on the park as a holding midfielder. I felt he gave us energy in the middle. Where I would agree though is he is prone to rash challenges.
  6. Just seen this video on Facebook of Bo'ness stadium on fire. Bo'ness United Stadium Fire
  7. From a personal point of view, the worse thing about the whole feud is I've friends in both "camps". There are good people on either side who just want what's good for the club. But rather than working together there are some folk that seem to be doing everything in their power to inflame the situation.
  8. You'd be here all week screenshotting all the post from Facebook. But most of them are from people close to the Trust rather than the actual committee. Some of the abuse that people who argue the Clubs side get is out of order. The arguments have got personal. As for the fall out between the Trust and Club, it's very unlikely that the feud will ever be resolved. From what I hear there are members of the Trust that the club would never deal with again. Things have been said (I think probably after a few too many beers) that have found there way back to the Club. Whatever has been said Sam Green and Paul Hetherington don't want anything to do with them. All in all it's a depressing situation. Both sides have made mistakes. I wish they could just sort it out but sadly I think it's only going to get worse.
  9. I felt we were a much better side when Cairns was in the team. I think he'll turn out to be a great signing for EK.
  10. Facebook has went nuts recently with loads of folk having their accounts deleted.
  11. I'm just sharing what I've heard from friends with members of the board and their side. I know when I was helping out with Trust events, we got a lot of help, freebies and discounted rates from the Stadium. From what I 've heard the rift started because apparently, the Club/Stadium company decided enough was enough they aren't making out of this. Goodwill can only go so far, the Club and Stadium had to make money and too much of their time and resources were going on other activities and the Trust would no longer be getting a free meal ticket. The squabbling has then lead to folk bad mouthing people and this, in turn, has found its way back to the other party. I'm sure there is a lot more to it and people closer to the situation could put a lot more meat on it but that's what I've heard. I can see where both points of view are coming from. I certainly don't want to have to pick sides and I'm sure most folk don't want to either. I just wish all this pish could be put to bed and we could get on with supporting the Club. But I guess with all that's gone on in the past with club nobody actually trusts one another and it just leads to one drama after another with Airdrie.
  12. I was part of the Trust. I've a number of friends still involved, so I'm not taking sides but think a bit of balance in argument is needed. I can see some of the points where the Club / Stadium company are coming from. The Trusts aim is to support and promote the club. There has always been an element of helping charities where we could. But over the last couple of years there has been a big swing to the charity side. I'm not going to name the individual charities as their names shouldn't be brought into this but the list keeps growing and growing. Don't get me wrong these are some great causes. But the burden of most of the Trust activities fall on the Stadium Company / Football Club. I get that the Club get goodwill from helping but at the end of the day the Stadium and Football Club are a businesses and they need some financial gain to survive and grow. Also I think people need to take into account. Unlike our previous board, the directors we have now are from the town, as are obviously the Trust. When people bad mouth folk whether through Chinese whispers, gossips or grasses it has a way of getting back to the other side. I don't believe the majority of the people involved in the Trust or Club want a war. The bad blood and antics aren't going to do anyone any good. People don't need to like one another but do need to find a way to work together. If anyone can't they maybe need to think about removing themselves from the equation.
  13. Yeah, I agree. Murray seems to have sorted out our defensive problems but we have a serious lack of creativity and energy in midfield and attack.
  14. From the footballing side of things, I believe the club has made some good appointments. I've been impressed with Martin Ferguson. He has a great love for the game, talks a lot of sense. And of course, has a wealth of footballing contacts and experience. Although I haven't agreed with all his decisions I think Ian Murray is a decent manager. Stuart Miller has a proven track record at this level. His eye for a player could be invaluable in building a squad to compete for the title. Unfortunately, this could all be undone with the Trust and Club squabbling.
  15. Hawkshaw, Glass and Cairns were excellent on Saturday. I know I've said it before but I think Cairns should have been getting more of a game last season. I know he can be a bit hot headed at times and pickup a few bookings but you need someone in the middle of the park to put his foot in. He adds a bit of drive and fight in the team. We've been far to pedestrian in the middle of the park.
  16. I'm off a similar opinion. The whole things depressing. My last dealings with the behind the scenes stuff was the meeting where the Trust met with the new board for the first time. A couple of the Trust didn't like Paul Hetherington but I thought at that meeting it seemed like the bad blood had been put behind them. At that point there was no more need for Diamonds for Change to be involved. I had high Hope's that the differences could get sorted out especially as a couple of the new board were in the Trust. I've heard rumours from both sides but personally I've tried to keep my nose out of it all. I just want to get on with supporting the club and not have to worry about the politics. Obviously there are folk on either side who don't like one another. And they don't have to. Easier said than done, I know, but I just wish they could find a way to try and work together, this tit for tat stuff isn't going to do anyone any good.
