Some amount of knicker wetting going on in that second half there. First game of the season and still 3 weeks before the league season starts and already some idiots writing off Hartley and some of the new players. Aye we were poor today but the players are clearly still getting to know each other and to gel. It will take time. If it’s like this around October/November time then fair enough but it’s still July ffs.

Paul Paton also taking Joe McKees squad number. Hopefully he gets shipped out along with the others as soon as possible. I’d be amazed if it’s even 1 tbh. Harris likely knows this will be his last season as a full time football player so really wouldn’t surprise me to see him sit out the season.

I know the Hippo signing has already been talked about over the last few pages but I always felt he got quite a hard time for our fans and was perhaps even under rated. Aye he’s an inconsistent winger but the realty is if he could find consistently he would be nowhere near this level. His main positives (well aside from winning penalties, of course) he’s got a good delivery on him from the left, a lot of the time he’ll cut back onto his right to cross it in and he’s still got a decent cross with his weaker foot. His work rate improved a hell of a lot during his time with us and he does a decent enough job of helping out his full-back. He played up front a few times for us when he first signed and he was rank but looked better when played there a few times last season. Don’t play him on the right however, despite me saying earlier he has a decent right foot cross he just doesn’t get involved in the game played out there and he’s like a man down. Of course his questionable attitude has been mentioned but the worst thing about him is the amount of bookings he gets for pulling a player back. When a player gets past him he just grabs the shirt which is infuriating. Probably not much that’s not already been covered over the last few pages but I genuinely really liked him when he was with us and think he’ll do a job for you guys. Much better played than the likes of Aird and Craigen.

Friendly results/performances really don’t matter whatsoever. To suggest otherwise is fucking ludicrous. Best he’s played so far. Still should never be offered a deal however. Harrison got subbed at half time. With Robson playing in midfield and McGhee rested we didn’t have any other defenders to bring on.

He was very much ok. He does a job at this level but nothing outstanding. A downgrade on Mikey Doyle for you guys imo.

Your average pre-season game go far f**k all happening. A few absolutely brutal and embarrassing shouts from some of the mouthbreathers in our support. Screaming ‘GET IT FORWARD’ in a friendly what an absolute riddy.

Who gives a f**k about Hartlepool fans. The Scottish Championship is a completely different level to the National League down south so they’re opinion about him is completely irrelevant to us. Scott Flinders went directly to Hartlepool after us and ended up making way over 200 appearances for them over 6 years. I’d imagine most of their fans would have a good opinion of him despite him being fucking dreadful for us and up there with one of the worst ‘keepers I’ve seen play for us.

Getting the fear a little that Allan is still on trial and he’s not been punted yet. He’s fucking ganting.

Assuming the trialists are Luke Watt and Mark Russell?

Not at the game but assuming it’s 4-4-2 again with the trialist wide left?

Was only 2 trialists midweek Jordan Allan and Luke Watt I’d imagine they will be the subs but will be interesting to see who the number 11 is.

I’d say he was probably our tallest player maybe around 6’4. Stayed back for corners and free-kicks though which I thought was a bit strange.

Kieran Duffie’s been at Clyde for the best part of a year now sure he’s signed on for this season as well. Brough was definitely playing left-back in a back 4 in the first half yesterday. He’s a fucking giant though.

I’d expect Fasan to start the first league game but it wouldn’t surprise me if either Mitchell or Mutch take the jersey from him at some point during the season.

Wee run down of how we lined up for those not there. First half: Fasan McGhee Harrison Dallison Brough Petravicius Paton Sammut Robson Froxylias Turner Second half: Mitchell Trialist Muirhead Dallison McGhee Petravicius/O’Hara Paton/McKee Kidd Robson Owen-Evans Turner/Trialist With McGhee going into the middle of a back 3 and O’Hara going up front with the trialist as went 3-5-2 for the last 5 minutes.

Decent run out tonight and get we were pretty unlucky to lose it at the end. Really liked the look of Petravicius on the right and thought Robson looked really good wide left and was unlucky not to score second half. Of the trialists I think Watt is worth a second look. Got caught under the ball from a goal kick in the lead up to the winner but other that was a really solid showing. Didn’t think much of Jordan Allan, was pretty poor of him to be offside for his goal and he didn’t offer anything at all. Based on that showing I’d be surprised if he isn’t binned. Interesting to note that we switched to a back 3 for the last 5 minutes or so. Yer boy Cosgrove up front is pretty shite. Didn’t really offer much at all. Liked the look of Forrester came on for May at half time and looked really tidy in possession. Scott Wright as well looked really lively when he came on.

One of the ‘trialists’ on the team sheet is Kevin O’Hara seemingly as we only have 2 trialists on the bench Luke Watt and I’ve no idea about the other guy but he’s tiny. Your standard friendly so far really not a lot happening except Paul Paton getting booked for an absolutely beautiful tackle on GMS. Been most impressed with Petravicius so far seems full of running and seems to have some amount of pace.

Think one of the trialists on the bench is Luke Watt. Lewis Logan Devlin McKenna Considine Gleeson Shinnie McGinn May Mackay-Steven Cosgrove Pretty much as strong as it gets from them tbh.

Back 3 with McGhee and Robson wing-backs? Still no Dennon Lewis hopefully the knock he picked up last week isn’t too serious.
