  1. Regarding the contact lens discussion- I understand why some folk are squimish about it at first, but if you stick at it quickly makes a difference (so much so that wearing glasses becomes a bit of a pain in the arse). I've worn them since I was about 11-12, and after a year or two of wearing them, taking putting them in/taking them out becomes second nature. I wore my contacts so much that some folk I knew for years were generally suprised when they saw me in glasses (although wearing them too much can be a problem.) I wear monthly ones, but if you had the dough daily ones are brilliant.
  2. Christ, this is tense! Cant believe Australia arent romping this though.
  3. Maybe our man greame is going to see a shock?
  4. The woman in the next bed to us at Ninewells had twins called Aiden and Erin. Im sure their big brother was called Liam as well. Congrats Seamus Glad to here everything is getting better Reina and G_Man Anna had her first night in her own room couple of nights ago and slept very well. Think we might be on the verge of teeth, she is slavering all over the place and it hurt like buggery when she "bit" down at me at the back of her gums. She still is very happy and uber-relaxed as usual though!
  5. Congrats SD. Clearly Dumfries doesnt have a lot to do at night. And thanks to the many other posters on this page for making me squirm.
  6. Almost 3 Months now. Anna stuggled to poo a lot as well (and still does sometimes) the water as mentioned helped. Anna had a proper scream this afternoon when we didnt have the milk waiting to hand! You'll go though a ton of that powder though!
  7. Ill echo that. Feel sorry for those suffering sleepless nights. Annas still doing well, she normal sleeps at least 6 hours normally up to 8. Tin after tin of SMA is disappearing and shes getting a wee bit chubby! Been in the bath with her mother the last couple of nights and really enjoyed it (except getting stripped, dried and dressed from daddy ). Her noises are fantastic. Happy most of the time on her mat, having her mum and dad speaking nonsense to her!
  8. Did Stewartymac get to him too? He looks furious! Congrats again!
  9. Congrats G-Man! Glad to hear everything is going well. Hope they get home soon. Sure you will be fed up with visitors by the end of the week. Anyways, Catherine is better now and Anna is doing well. She is sleeping around 6-7 hours every night as well! Heres a few pictures of anna from the last two months.....
  10. Thanks for all your kind words. Yes, it was a hell of a fright. I dont think I'd be going over the top as to say coming out of the ward afterwards was possibly the most emotional I have ever been. I apologies to anybody whos expecting for posting that, we have already scared a couple of folk we know who are pregnant! Its been perfect since though, like reina's child Anna has piled on the pounds! We can see she is close to smiling and we are getting more noises from her. All I can say about the birth, is that we are glad we ended up in ninewells (due to catherine having to be induced) instead of PRI where we had originally hoped the baby would be born. The staff there were brillant, and I am so glad we had doctors and facilities on hand, the alternative still frightens me a bit. And yes I meant tuesday rather than thursday in my original post!
  11. Will do. Will get try and get picture up here if I can manage it! Hope everything continues fine with yourselves. Takes forever to get to the big day
  12. Sorry to hear that hope everything else is going ok though. Forgot to come on here and say baby Anna arrived four weeks ago. She was 7lbs 4 and the labour was a nightmare. Catherine got induced after a day or two in ninewells. She was started at around 10 on thursday night and was still in labour wednesday lunch time. Needed the forceps to get Anna out. Then the real drama began....later at night catherine was encouraged to go for a walk (after I had left at 10pm) and blood started to pour out and she fainted. Her blood pressure was down to something ridicilous like 37/22 and later we found out she had lost almost half her blood. She was taken in to theatre and I was called in about 1. Turned out her uterus hadnt contracted back and blood clots had formed. She was out of theatre when I arrived, and thankfully everything was ok. She had a blood transfusion the next day and is on iron tablets still to get her hymoglobin (sp??) up. Anna is perfect though. She has slept through the night once already and usually sleeps 4-6 hours on any given night. Long may it continue. Cant wait for her to smile, she s the most contented baby in the world i think!
  13. I meant which university Was looking at enigmas post there and he seemed to say a couple of the scottish history professors are publish at stirling so thats always good. It is great you can ask question but it does mean plagirism is clearly going to be punished, I always thought it was difficult to disagree with them as well. If you want a background read on Scottish History, Michael Lynch's Scotland: A New History is the bible even is its not exactly a "light" read. Tim Divines "The Scottish Nation" is also a good book for more modern scotland (1700-) and is an excellent read for a history book. If its medival your after GWS barrow or Michael Brown (who lectured me!) is what your after.
  14. Was interesting, admit a probably didnt work as hard as I should have. A lot depends on where you are planning to study it as well, is you dont mind me asking? In acedemic terms, its quite in insular subject, not nearly as big as you would think. This can be quite benifical at times, as you usually get small seminars at honours (in my experience) or a hinderance as some modules at honours will not attract enough students to run. I was at St.Andrews and this seemed to be the case, although i never missed out on a class. It also means theirs a good chance one of the few respectable authorities on the subject, and the authors of some of the main reading materials, will be the ones lecturing you. I'll leave it to you to decide if this a benifit or not!
  15. Adv History, if you do well in it, would be a big bonus when you go to uni. The most important thing is that it gives you an insight to the amount of reading and work thats needed for 1st year history at Uni. In terms of work, I'd imagine if your going to do adv history it would take up quite a lot of time (if it is like before, two 2000ish word essays and 4000+ dissertation. at least) compared to just a higher. I did Adv History and got a "B" although I did mess about a bit and was a bit lucky I got the questions I needed in the exam. I also only had one other adv higher and 1 higher to study as well. Went on to Uni to do Maths before changing to Scottish History in second year (I did the first and second year history modules alongside maths) before finally getting a general M.A.
  16. Just like to echo's kilt's thoughts above. Hope it all goes well.
  17. Right two questions. 1. How much does landscape gardening cost? In the back garden planning to lay a patio at the top of the garden, relay/increase the size of the lawn, lay a path from the back gate to the stairs, paint the walls and flatten/concrete over the concrete at the back door. Obviously I had thought about doing most of it myself, and I think we could get someone to lay the patio. It would involve a good bit of flattening and moving of earth as well. Anybody else with a garden on a slope tried such a thing? 2. Whatever happened to Andy C's directory thingy yuo could look up for peoples "area of expertise"?
  18. Thank god. My T.V. will no longer be on the recieving end of slippers/cup/my dinner when bridget leaves! as for rebecca
  19. That was tuesdays eposide on five, yes. Cliffhanger was when Ty broke up with her. Sure it was mentioned on this thread that she was to be leaving anyway. They are. Dont get as much time in it as they deserved, although recently they have had more screen time due to Zeke's disappearance. Its is home to some dreadful characters like the Parkers now though, and the aforementioned Rebecca.
  20. Rachael has had an offer to go London on a scholarship and Ty broke up with her as Zeke said she only not going because of him. The wombats (?) played a gig at the pub singing a song I had had in my head for days before and now cant remember!
  21. Bit on Radio Scotland with massone "issueing an ultimitium" saying that the clubs future lay with the stadium being sold to him.
  22. Lucky you! How far along is she? (apologies if you have said elsewhere in the thread!) Cravings wise its rather frustrating, in that she has them and quickly goes off them. You want to see the number of orange ice lollies in the freezer! I utterely refuse to comment on the wild mood swings part on a public forum which i know her brother reads!!!
