We were lowland league (or below) quality for the first half of the season and he didn’t particularly stand out. He did manage to be offside more times in one game than Inzaghi managed in his full career so that was impressive in itself. Has something about him but needs game time in a fixed position to learn his trade. We aren’t well placed to be developing youngsters right now, we need guys that know what they are doing in the door.

He really hasn’t, he’s looked unfit and off the pace most of the time. Will probably be shown the door before the month is out.

If we are down there it will be on sporting merit and we can’t have any complaint. If you end up in the SPFL it’s because you’ve splaffed ludicrous amounts of cash to see off some students, postmen and old firm kids you seem to love so much. Whilst your manager loves to sound off against the b-teams you voted them to stay in. Whilst he loves to talk of sporting integrity, he’s buying the league. Whilst you throw mental money at players from tiers above you are grovelling for cash for an injured boys op.

What a joke outfit, how many players have they used this season? It’s almost as bad for the integrity of the league as b-teams, when you’ve got a club loaning players from 3 tiers above and signing guys at will after every poor result. I’m sure the SPFL are rubbing their hands together at the prospect of a financially doped basket case, playing out of a 5s cage and with 50 fans joining the ranks.

It’s far from a foregone conclusion, we are deep in the shit. The team looks a lot better already with changes made so far but as soon as we sub a player or 2 there is a stark drop off. We are also playing catch up which heaps a lot of pressure on us (eg we probably need to win up in Elgin twice whereas a draw will likely suit them). Our business over the rest of this month is vitally important. Add in a Flynn Duffy, Jordan Allan and Liam brown to what we already have and we are looking good. Keep missing out on targets and we are in real problems. Mostly we are hoping that the damage isn’t already done and we can salvage survival but I doubt anyone’s putting the mortgage on it.

If we are interested in taking back Jordan Allan on loan (which to me is a no brainer) then yesterday’s Falkirk performance will surely have increased that possibility. They gave a bunch of squad players a run out and he was one of 5 players hooked at half time. With them signing Shanley recently too it seems Allan could be surplus to requirements.

On Saturdays viewing Bonnyrigg should be one we are targeting to catch. They were absolutely rotten and although they have 22 points on the board, they did get 6 of those from us so they are no great shakes.

Elgin have a very winnable looking home game vs Stranraer so this game is very important for us. If we allow the gap to stretch much wider the pressure is going to be massive on us.

Regarding Duffy, a couple of weeks after we punted him he was on the radio giving Steve Clark tips on how to put together a squad for the Euros. You honestly couldn’t make that up. Today aside, I make it 4 league wins in the calendar year 2023 (and 2 of those were end of season dead rubbers). No wonder we are fucked.

We played in Cumbernauld for almost 30 years and didn’t make much concerted effort to integrate into the community there so wherever we end up next could you blame them for being sceptical if we are in it for the long haul? There just isn’t a community out there waiting to embrace a mediocre SPFL club. We will need to work extremely hard over a sustained period to try and appeal to the community we land in next and over the years I have seen very little to make me believe we can achieve this.
