It is perfectly practical, it's just uncomfortable for people which is why it should be raised.

It depends what your desired outcome is. We need to get over the mindset that policies can benefit everyone. If equity is a societal goal then inheritance tax would be one of the easiest things to tackle.

Your point around enforcement is a good one too. The inability to tax people fairly isn't due to any technical difficulties - it's a choice.

You can't apply a country solution to a global problem, if you want to tax people properly it needs to be a global minimum tax rate. And if you want to avoid trust fund / estate loopholes it's easy - just close them. They exist because governments allow them to exist.

This requires a huge amount of political will and global coordination that isn't likely - but is possible and would be a very good thing were it to happen.

Equity benefits society in a myriad of ways, the next Stephen Hawking is far more likely to be born in Nigeria than the UK (given it's a far larger country) but his/her chances of reaching the same level of success are much lower because of a lack of opportunities. That harms the individual, and it harms us all really.

A world where everyone has a chance to reach their full potential would benefit everyone.

This is where you lost me. Everyone knows that people born in Nigeria are princes with lots of money stored away and just looking for a way to get it out the country.

This is genuinely my biggest fear. I worry every time I drive over a bridge it's going to fall down and I'll get stuck in my car and drown.

    Yes. I'm weird.

My wife is exactly the same, her way of preparing for the worst? open all the windows in the car. forget the fact that she'd probably die on impact with the water, she thinks it will let the car fill with water quicker and she can get out without smashing the windows.

I don’t think I have ever felt this emotional on the back of watching a tv series in my life. It started fairly lighthearted and I thought it was a romcom which would have a fairly predictable ending until episode 11 where I felt far more emotionally connected than I should have. Watched the final 3 episodes last night after the slight spoiler above and didn’t see any of that coming at all. Maybe it caught me at a weak moment I don’t know but it was incredibly powerful.

Feel exactly the same, I was screaming at the tv at bits and thinking wtf are you doing.

not the kind of program I’d normally watch but it got me hooked to the very end.

Until we see the reality of it it's hard to judge.

If you look at City Group, its geared so that the clubs filter players up and down the pyramid ultimately to help the most lucrative markets but also haul everyone up. They don't really deny it goal mostly solidifying Man City as a European powerhouse while building quite a spiders web worldwide scouting network. I wonder if they envisaged the success of Girona so soon?

Let's say Brentford show an interest. Their academy is buoyant and the standard or fringe players is on par with or near Mika. To advance their development players, would there be a funnel to us or would they see more benefit in the guys they are really hopeful making their first team soon in the Championship or abroad rather than the Cinch? You would guess what happened to us in January with Mika being recalled would be less likely.

It would be in their interest that we finish as high up the table as we can for access to Europe, prize money and well sporting organisations like to be associated with success. Would their players be loaned to us, improving our base standard effectively for free reducing our costs? You'd think with the knowledge of Brentford involved with us we'd avoid any more silly bids because there would no longer be an assumption we're living hand to mouth.

As for control, well at present we have that to a degree but not fully, so much is out of our hands. We are beholden to whoever makes sensible offers and conversely what we can offer to bring players in. When it comes to purchases, its no secret that we've missed out on half a dozen these past two windows due to mixture of funds or perception of a better career move at another interested club. So while we may decide who to pursue not much good if we can't close the deal.

Would Max have signed an extension if he was part of an organisation knowing he could have a path to the EPL if he carried on his trajectory? Would a £2m fee for Lennon be a £5m fee if he was sent to Brentford first and the cache of the EPL naturally bumps up his value. Would we realise all of that or would Brentford insist how every penny was spent?

Negatives may include them for accounting/tax purposes running us in such a way to be the most efficient, that may be at a loss, or a dumping ground. Would there be demands on the amount of game time for their loanee's? Would their be EPL ego's at play thinking they could send up 6 starters freeing up wages to double our top earners from 3-4k per week to 6k to then compete with Hearts for 3rd or the OF?

Would they accept a 50-50 model? Unlikely unless they had the controlling vote and at the very minimum. Would they accept a 50-50 with a fan group, almost definitely not so perhaps a moot debate.

With the WS holding 71% at present, would they look for a 21% stake for 1% of their EPL TV deal for everything we could bring ..... I dunno, but I'd be surprised if it didn't get a shoulder shrug or two in boardrooms.

Come on we all know that £5m fees come after a loan to Newcastle!

  5. It’s unfair to compare anything to band of brothers, best world war program ever imho.

i enjoyed the series but what was missing was the interviews with the real pilots. It took them so long to make it that had all passed away. I’d still rate it above the pacific, I just couldn’t get into that.

I thought the concentration camp part was unnecessary and just chucked in for effect. Whereas, why we fight, will go down  as one of the best, most harrowing episodes of TV I have ever saw.

    For a guard?

    Any good?

I would say its an big over pay. he's played centre all 4 years in Denver and improved all each year although he couldn't get any worse after year one, he was 32nd out of 32 starting centres. He has had 3/4 different starting QB's in his time and the line changing constantly around him.

He missed games in 2022 with an injury but started every game his other 3 years. So he's durable.

They must get hunners of complaints then if they dont cover the other exit - especially as its at the petrol station.

I havent been in for a while, but will watch out for that next time.

    What tossers !

Its not normal that i go twice in the one day or if i do, i would probably just use the same entrance/exit. I have saw the signs and assumed that there were cameras covering the exits but it wasn't until this came in i had a look and the last one i could see was between Curry's and (now) Burger King and its facing towards Homebase not the actual exit.

  10. we got one in last week claiming we had parked at Craigleith, Edinburgh for 10 hours on a Saturday.

I dropped my daughter at school for Netball and headed down for a coffee, went in via the Sainsburys entrance and left via the other entrance. picked her up and did various other things. Needed something later on and went in via the other entrance and left via the Sainsburys entrance. So as far as that camera is concerned, I had been in there for 10 hours.

Letter comes with pictures showing me entering and leaving via the Sainsburys route nothing of the other exit. With the wife's job she makes me get in contact with them to sort it out (it won't impact her job but anything for an easy life) I put in my appeal requesting they view the footage of the other entrance/exit and they will see my car coming and going. I got an email back within 24 hours saying 'we have checked the footage and we can't see your car moving around the car park but in this instance we will cancel the charge'

Next time i was in i had a look around. You can't miss the camera on the Sainsburys side but neither of the 2 ways of going out the other side have a camera.  I guess they write to people they can see entering and leaving via the Sainsburys entrance longer than 3 hours in the hope that some will pay up.

  11. I've saw him live twice and he was very impressive for Texas.

First time he had Bijan Robinson in the team and still looked good.

second time he was the stand out but I hated him as there was a wee guy behind me who insisted in full naming him every single play... thankfully he never did it on defence.

Pretty sure he was the return guy too.

To be honest it didn't look like Casey needed to go to ground, IMO, which has resulted in his follow through cleaning out McCausland. He gets there well ahead of McCausland and clears the ball in a normal running action. He then goes to ground after winning the ball and slides into him.

It's a moot point really as it should've simply been a foul in my opinion with no real bearing on the game (other than McCausland unfortunately picking up a knock).

He a defender and not a very fast one at that. He is preparing for contact and gets the ball away. His follow through only cleaned out McCausland as McCausland left his leg in.

Should it have had a foul? perhaps but that would have been a bit harsh on McCausland.

  13. 1 hour ago, AJF said:

I’ll assume this is directed at me here given my earlier comments. I’ve already said it’s not a red, but the speed of a challenge is absolutely a factor when considering if a player has fouled or not.

It’s the reason we were told Sterling’s red card against Aberdeen was dangerous, the speed at which he went into the tackle.

It’s a rather moot point given I don’t believe it’s a red card, but it’s wrong to suggest the speed at which a player makes a challenge should not be considered.

Speed of Challange? its Dan Casey not Usain Bolt!!

I'm interested in what you think Casey should do, you have mentioned before you thought it was a foul. He has ran in and played the ball. McCausland is a good 2 feet away when he has half pulled out but left his leg in to try and win a foul (could have injured Casey but i don't think that was his intention) Casey wasn't tackling McCausland, he was clearing the ball.

If you had shown me the images from behind McCausland then I would agree that its a foul and a sending off, they look terrible But VAR and replays from other angles show that it was McCausland that was in the wrong here.

Someone just posted on SO saying that some members are non paying and that we have junior members as well and that might account for the percentage figures.

They clarify it at the bottom of the message

*17 votes of the 1010 votes cast were invalid for the following reasons:

    • Junior Steel members: 3
    • No membership record: 3
    • Voted twice: 11

To be fair...they were the ones who put out such woolly wording basically inviting people to listen to any offers. So I'd be surprised if they're too disappointed.

What concerns me most is that:

    1) we're now going to spend time dealing with people who want to take control rather than be a partner. That's just the wrong priority.

    2) our negotiating position to outsiders is weakened as it's now much harder to say to potential investors you need to take a back seat. They will quite rightly ask why when the fans said they're open to it.

    3) if the proposal to give up control is rejected, what have we sacrificed in the meantime with no CEO, direction etc.

So while I do understand the result to an extent...not great.

Im not sure i agree with you. People have just voted to say they would consider it. I am 100% for the society but why wouldn't we have a look and see if someone wanting 51% for X amount of money is a good deal. We need to look at all options (although as the vote was non binding I am sure they would have anyway)

Our negotiating position hasn't weakened, it might have even strengthened it. If we had ruled out talking to people wanting a majority shareholding that would have ruled people out. we are now saying we are prepared to listen to all investors.

yep, would love for the Texan's to win and i agree with the rest.

Pretty decent timings of the sunday games, easier to stay up for the late game.

  17. holy shit, That was embarrassing and this is coming from a the fan of a team that gave up 70 points this season but at least it was to a good team.

As boo has said the team just quit on its Head Coach, he needs to stay for the rest of the season though.... and maybe next season

After I accepted the Broncos had no chance this year following the pumping by the Dolphins, they have only gone and got my hopes up again.

I fully expect to be let down in the final regular season game against the Raiders

have a bit of faith.. been so long since i could say that with a straight face. Lions, Pats, Chargers, Raiders are all winnable. i just wish the Chiefs run in wasn't pretty much the same. Pats, Raiders, Bengals, Chargers.

Would be nice to have someone else win the division.
