    Queen of the South
  1. Queens will win this. Had 3 options for tommorow - Go to watch NUFC v Bournemouth Head to Ayr for the game at Somerset.... Or go to Kelso races............. Difficult choice but I am heading OUT of Dumfries and Galloway into the Scottish Borders for a day at Kelso.......... Which means wins for the South and the Toon. Should pay decent odds on a wee double. Ayr have been excellent this season and are top on merit, all credit to Jobby and his players but think the South will just be too good for Ayrshires 2nd team. Hopefully a good result will quieten the odd Ayr fans who abide in D&G.
  2. A cracking match. Alloa impressed me today but it is certainly 2 points dropped.Dobbie is just brilliant, 3 excellent strikes.Harkins I hope has not too serious an injury but he done hee haw before going off. Both Marshall and Mercer were poor in my view and it was only Dobbie, Doyle andSemple who got pass marks from me.Martin did make an excellent save near the end turning the ball onto the post but we need a more assured No1.Watching Dobbie is a delight and worth the entrance money alone.I thought the Ref today had a very good first half , letting play flow and givingthe advantage to the attacking team but in the last 20 mins he lost it, he let Alloa away with a lot of blatant tugging, pulling and hand balls which could have cost usa point and likely denied us all 3.
  3. It did indeed end 2-1 and Murray scored both, one after 20 minutes when he hit a decent shot that appeared to go under the keeper. Stranraer levelled when the Queens keeper came running out of his box to clear his lines and mis -kicked allowing the forward to get in behind and knock the ball home. The QOS winner was also from a defensive mistake, the Stranraer defender lost the ball about 30 yards out and Murray broke clear and finished well. It was a hard fought game with not many chances.
  4. Think we will get a result at Ibrox but if I had t choose it would be 6 points v Raith and Hibs.
  5. Line up v South Sheilds today - Thomson, Brannan, Evans, Jacobs, Brownlie, Hooper, Trialist, Millar, Smith, Dykes, Moxon
  6. My mistake gogs, I didn't see who scored the 4th. Someone said it was Rigg so I posted that.
  7. Imagine a few will be heading down on the train. Weather not looking too good though.
  8. ABC and the Commitments will be playing at Easterbrook Hall in the evening.
  9. Its funny how we all see things differently, I was standing near Gogs and for me it was a stonewall penalty, the players didn't make too much fuss though so maybe its my old eyes. Should have scored 2 or 3 more in second half but was a decent result and performance for first league game of season.
  10. It was Dean Brotherston that came on without a number on his shirt with 10 mins to go.
  11. An enjoyable and quite competitive match at Palmerston tonight. Queens started well and Russell (the only QOS player to play whole 90 mins) had 3 efforts on goal in first 5 minutes. Robbie Thomson starting in goals for Queens hardly saw the ball in first 30 minutes. Dale Hilson took his goal very well after 19 minutes and looked lively throughout his time on the park. Killie started to come more into the game at end of first half. Queens started the second 45 with the same lineup that ended the 1st. Robbie Thomson made his first save of the game after 48 minutes when he reacted well to tip a long range Killie effort over the bar for a corner. Ryan Conroy then smacked a shot of the post with Jamie MacDonald beaten. Killie drew level after 53 minutes when the impressive Rory McKenzie found space at the edge of the box and hit a low shot that gave Thomson no chance. Killie were now on the front foot and looking the more likely to score. There was then a period between the 66th and 80th minutes when we made lots of changes. Killie went in front when McKenzie showed neat control when he picked up the ball just inside the box and slotted the ball past Jim Atkinson in the Queens goal. Queens did not take long to respond when we were awarded a free kick about 22 yards out. It had Conroys name written all over it and he stepped up and hit a great strike past MacDonald to level the game up at 2-2.There were a few half chances at either end in the final few minutes including a Dean Smith shot that went over the top. I was impressed with the new look Queens tonight, Millar looked much fitter and was always involved, especially in the first half. Marshall looked assured at left back and Jacobs looked very comfortable. Tapping was pretty quiet after appearing to get an injury. Hilson looks a decent player and looks the type that will get goals for us. It was great to see Paul Burns come on for the last 25 minutes and at the end of the game he got a standing ovation from the fans and also the players of both sides as he left the pitch. I enjoyed the game tonight and saw enough to make me feel positive about the season ahead.
  12. All the best to Burnsy, will be sadly missed at Palmerston.
