  1. I think it is still Ben Carson (unless I have missed something). They kept trying to encourage the players even at 4-0 but some of the goals they gave away tonight were shocking.
  2. Shame to see Meadow struggle as they did tonight. Not sure if they were missing players or not but TBH we never came out of 1st gear having changed half the team from Saturday.
  3. Were you 1 of the 5 fans/committee that turned up earlier this season? I agree Dunterlie is looking tired but to say it is falling apart is a nonsense. There has been significant money invested in replacing the retaining walls on the Carlibar road side and behind the goal at the station end with further work planned. A disabled toilet was fitted to our disabled supporters area, along with a newly fitted kitchen to the tea bar to improve the productivity for the tea bar. I believe further work is being planned for the summer. All this being done while discussions have been held about a potential ground move in the near to medium future rather than letting the ground fall further into disrepair.
  4. It is easy to not care about fans when you have very few and dont rely on them to fund the club!!
  5. Well, unless we draw each other in a cup we won't be visiting. You make flippant remarks about sushi etc but maybe if your club offered anything maybe people wouldn't pass comment. Maybe take some of the money you are paying your big names that the club (apparently) generates through it business club to improve the spectator experience and maybe that would attract more home fans too. The fact the club are more than happy to plough larger amounts into their playing staff while not improving the facilities (not just Gartcairn btw) or using other clubs is why I have an issue with how the game is currently run at this level.
  6. Spot on and given that they were allowed to join over a decade ago without a ground at that time and with promises of that being rectified within a few months of the season starting, you have to question the process that was undertaken at that time and why clubs that voted them in were lied to.
  7. He was watching the game from the crowd yesterday. Seems like he will get announced soon.
  8. What happened to the much heralded food hub they said was up and running. I missed our game up there this season thankfully but It is a terrible venue. When they applied for membership of the SJFA a lot of big promises in relation to their ground was made at that time, none of which has happened.
  9. Think they are going to give attendance as 2.5k but when you bring the under 12s into it will be over 3k.
  10. Really pleased with the result and performance. Thought we were the better team and could have added a couple at the end. Burgh’s big players didn’t fire at all. Lafferty was ineffective bar his diving antics and shushing the crowd when getting called out for it. Dorrans was anonymous with the game passing him by. Great crowd marred by some of the young team throwing cans and other objects at the Arthurlie players after our equaliser and 1 of them at the end trying to fight with a player who was trying to see his family. The vast majority of the young team brought colour and noise to the game and should be applauded for creating and excellent atmosphere. Crowd must have been between 3k-4k.
  11. Not wanting to turn this into another thread of 2 sides from entrenched positions calling each other wrong but I will make a couple of points. 1. In answer to your question, I think (and you are not going to like this) for some it is the history of the competition and the recognition it currently has. There were people who I have not seen at an Arthurlie game today in years. Also some who were there from both sets will not know of what changes have happened in the past 5 years with the East teams leaving and frankly probably wouldn't care and only saw "Scottish Junior Cup Semi Final". 2. As someone who can count on 1 hand the games I have missed this season I firmly believe that even if you say the crowd was 45% each teams support and 10% neutrals that is still more than treble what our normal home support is. In the old WOS we went to Meadow Park for the Semi and the crowd was lucky to be over 500 and the final that year at Newlandsfield between us and Kilwinning was not much higher. At our last AGM, I proposed that Arthurlie resign their membership of the SJFA and play in the Strathclyde Demolition Cup as I felt the rewards were better. I still believe that to be the case, but today showed me there's still some interest in the old cup yet.
  12. I tend to agree although not sure a WOS cup semi final would get the attendances that the games got this weekend. I know the attendance was given as 1313, but it would be higher by a couple of hundred imo given kids U12 went free and they were swarming the pitch at HT.
  13. Initial thoughts on the game, Arthurlie started brighter and lead with a cracking half volley from Mark Docherty. Game became quite scrappy after that until Burgh had a period of dominance that started by Graham Black denying Kyle Lafferty with a top save. Burgh got their equaliser not long after after Layden, for some explicable reason pulled the Burgh player back in the box, with Lafferty converting. I expected Burgh to push on but they didn't and the game went in level at the break. 2nd half and this time it was Burgh who started the better but without creating many clear cut chances. Arthurlie went back in front with a fine goal from left back Connor Bradley who rode a couple of challenges before curling home, almost immediately Burgh should have levelled when Stuart McCann was denied by Black. Burgh started to dominate and levelled after a good run by McDonald was finished by our ex player Dale Simeon (fair play for not celebrating). We had a glorious chance at the end when Max Kerr went through but he chose the wrong option of trying to find Dykes rather than shooting. Our habit of conceding poor goals continues as both goals were preventable. It now becomes a 1 off game at Kennie Park next week. A great crowd and atmosphere.
  14. Possibly, but wasn't aimed only at Bankies. Plenty of other clubs have done so this season either with very poor starts, poor middle of the seasons and poor end to a season like yourselves. ETA thanks for the best wishes.
  15. Too late, we already have. We deserve to be where we are and even making it to the Junior Cup final (which tbh I dont care about). Maybe a wrong and grumpy choice of words that I used but I am getting pretty sick with this view that only certain clubs in the West want promotion to the LL based upon fan comments and preconceived bias.
  16. Which clubs (not supporters on a forum) have said they dont want promotion? What people seem to forget is that this is only the 3rd full season of the WOSFL. The issue of not having a licensed champion is partly down to the SFA closing new Licence applications and the fact that the main licensed contenders shat the bed this year. Beith are top having lost 3 of their best players!!
  17. What does brining the Juniors back actually mean? The WOSFL has seen little to no difference other than promotion at the top being in place which I don’t see changing as the SFA would immediately ban teams from competing in the Scottish Cup and I don’t think those that have spent a lot of money in getting their grounds up to licence standard are going to allow that to happen.
  18. Totally agree but I again IIRC, there wasn’t the need for a vote as all the clubs left when it was made known that there was no future for the West Region. Again IIRC correctly there was some discussion amongst some of the Lower Division teams about changing their mind but it came to nothing. I would ask anyone who says clubs are anti pyramid to give evidence. I haven’t seen anything other than some fans opinions and while not to be discounted don’t seem to be the opinions of the clubs.
  19. You’re missing the point though. The SFA are not allowing new licensing applications until after the AGM this year. So that is one reason we might end up with a non licensed champion again through no fault of Beith.
  20. IIRC correctly the West Region Board informed members that they were closing their doors and that unless they wanted to start their own league then they were to apply to the newly formed WOSFL. There was never an offer from the SJFA to do what they did in the Midlands and North so what were the clubs supposed to do? FWIW I always wanted the WOSFL to be about progression and clubs that wanted to do so. I pushed my club and held discussions with several other clubs on behalf of my club to get to allow our members to make an informed choice. On your point about not sanctioning another league, my point on that was only if the doom mongers are correct and this is the begging of taking the WOSFL out of the pyramid then I do think there would be the sanctioning of a new league but that’s a massive IF as there has been nothing mentioned other than some Bankies fans who don’t know anything more than we do.
  21. Who is sabotaging anything? One person is being nominated to a role in the WOSFL. Nothing else so far has changed. He might not get in FFS. I don’t think we should make the SCC optional but I no longer hold a role where I can express that opinion. I don’t think this is going to change the WOSFL place in the pyramid, but if it did then those clubs who want to breakaway can do so or vice versa. Remember that all the clubs moved to the WOSFL as they had no where else to go at that time. I don’t want to go back away from the pyramid but nothing has indicated that being the case so far. Let’s get upset when something actually changes FFS
  22. It’s certainly 1 of the worst places to watch a game.
  23. On the topic as a whole. Is it a conflict of interest - yes Is it a SJFA takeover - maybe At the end of the day the clubs make the best decisions for themselves. It’s a democracy and every club gets a vote. I personally only see one thing being changed which is that (if as reported) the SCC becomes optional. Again though just because there is a change of Chairman doesn’t mean it will/wont happen. It could happen no matter who the Chair is as all it takes is 2 clubs to propose/second an amendment to the rules and it would be voted on. Someone asked earlier why my club would propose a new Chairman. I have my suspicions but I don’t think it would be fair to put them out publicly ATM. I do think there is an overreaction in some quarters to something that hasn’t happened yet. People will have their reasons but the mudslinging on here about it is ridiculous.
