  1. We switched to a 352/532 formation out of the blue this week and it got us an improved performance vs Thistle and our first win in forever against Dunfermline. Now wondering if that tactical change was part of testing it out for him... Can't say I'm overly thrilled if it is Davidson but will give him the chance he deserves. Not like we can say no to a guy who won a cup double outside the Old Firm in modern Scottish football, but his record on transfers worries me a little. Think it also shows it's another big step away from the 'Dutch' model we've followed under Beuker in the last few years. That said, I think Paul Nuijten has done alright with his interim spell in charge working with what he's got, I hope he gets the chance to stay around at Queen's Park and he isn't another exit.
  2. Watched the game in the pub in deepest darkest Ayrshire last night and cannot begin to describe the hangover I have today. We probably should have won by more than one goal but the fact is we won and it's about fucking time we did. Combined with Dempster leaving today I hope come May we look back on this weekend as being the turning point of our season.
  3. Of all of your baffling takes over the years, your Ruari Paton hate has to be the worst.
  4. Sad thing is it genuinely was better, probably the best we've played since the first 80mins in the 3-2 home defeat to Raith. Came away from Firhill today not angry, just disappointed. A change in formation/system to 5-3-2 seemed to work and we had a couple of chances early on. But we continue to find new ways to shoot ourselves in the foot. Three back post crosses = three goals. Didn't help that Ferrie, having been excellent for a couple of months, was back to his erratic best today. Another poster mentioned the Neilson tackle/booking, from my position at the other end of the stadium it looked like a perfectly clean last man tackle, so to have the foul given but then only a yellow card baffled me, surely it's either nothing or a red? Despite the scoreline I thought Bannon and Thomson had great games. Bruce probably had his best performance of the season, and Mauchin I thought did well in the second half actually trying to get forward. A double for Paton but he should have had a third when he decided he had 10 minutes to hit a 1v1 against Mitchell. Struggling to see where our next win comes from. A manager announcement needed ASAP and players following him in almost immediately afterwards.
  5. Lawless and Fitzpatrick have absolutely pumped us down the wings in every meeting so far this season, and I have no doubt they'll do the same again. f**k knows why I'm going along to this today. As many other QP fans have said, morale and belief at an all time low for me.
  6. Thought both teams were poor in the first half, separated only by a penalty which replays have confirmed was a solid dive from Turner, but still a bit daft from Rae. Second half was as bad as we've played all season, and we've watched some amount of shite. That halfway line offside trap may have worked against Dundee United's slow forwards, but after Airdrie got in behind the third time you'd think you should make a change. To still be doing it in injury time is suicidal, and so it proved to be. Starting to think finishing 8th this season is beyond us, and at best we'll be flung about by Hamilton in the playoffs. Depressing stuff.
  7. See you got the fear this morning and made your Twitter account private
  8. Even our own social club promoting having it on the TV. Not a fan of that imo but if it lures in a few random suckers paying their wild drink prices then job done. It'll be on everywhere sadly but plenty of places to go. Armstrong's on Battlefield Rd probably as far as I'd go, then you've got Clockwork/Florida Park/Tartan Coo along Cathcart Rd, or the Montford and Beechwood on the Toryglen side of Hampden.
  9. Was miserable at half time, but now I'm actually quite happy with that. Given how poor we've been recently, we've been crying out for a clean sheet to show we can actually dig in and fight when it matters. If that meant sacrificing our attacking intent for almost the entire 90 mins, so be it. Thought United were shocking, which is a wild turnaround to the 4-1 pumping they gave us in September. We simply (and very effectively) played an offside trap for 90mins and they were completely broken in attack with that one tactic. Doubt their defence will have an easier game all season though.
  10. Utterly miserable half. QP have defended well compared to recent weeks, but still let United have two good chances from corners and somehow got away with one with the Thomson/Cudjoe clash. I don't think it's a penalty but I am certain it's not a foul in QP's favour. Not sure I see us holding on for another 45.
  11. Already making plans for a very uncharacteristic lump on Dundee United -2 and -3. 1-0 Queen's Park.
  12. He had a howler in him frequently last year, and one of his worst (or best depending on your point of view) was at Cappielow last season. But he was still the team of the year 'keeper as voted for by his fellow pros, and this season he's been excellent and despite our current run I don't think any of it has been down to him at all. Just watched the highlights up until the penalty miss. The Morton goal is a copy and paste of at least half the goals we've conceded this season, we're unbelievably predictable and poor in defence. Can't see the foul for the penalty thanks to the pillar in the way, but I really cannot believe the reaction by Morton fans to that red card. It is late, through the back of Thomson, clearly catches him and it is about three feet away from the ref who had an unobstructed view. Looks like a stonewaller to me. Shame we're rancid right now and couldn't take advantage.
  13. Delighted I made the conscious decision not to go to this today. And was even happier that my struggles to find a dodgy stream only had to last 8 minutes. We are in serious fucking trouble this season, and while I think some of it could be put down to potential jealousy due to our financial backing, the hubris of those in charge (both from those at the club and those now departed) is coming back to bite us on the arse, and we just have to accept it. I have only heard from fellow QP fans about how bad we were, so I am almost looking forward to highlights being released to see the incidents with the referee that have upset Morton fans. Can't comment without seeing them, but someone referred to the red card as an obvious yellow card "one for the team" offence. Our first defeat to Raith Rovers we had Will Tizzard sent off for one of those. Maybe it's something they're trying to "stamp out" of the game? If it is it will leave the game worse off, few things better than a blatant yellow like that.
  14. Paul Nuijten will get my support until he gives me any reason otherwise for what happens on the park. Off the park I'm at my wits end with Queen's Park. Unbelievable how much worse that piss poor statement made me feel. The latest in a long, long line of bullshit from those in charge.
  15. If the Transfermarkt website is to be believed, this is the average age for every team in the league: Rumour has it he was "sacked" following a disagreement on budget for this season.
  16. On Saturday evening when it was announced he had left the club, the statement said further information would be given in the coming days. In the "Week Ahead" article yesterday, a "Head Coach Update" was top of the list. I don't think anyone is expecting an announcement on who the next permanent manager is, but some kind of information is definitely needed. But of course this goes back to how horrifically poor the communication is from QP at the best of times.
  17. Tam Courts looks on paper to be the best option, all things considered. Was allegedly a top candidate in the summer, you wonder if he'd still consider us if we went back to him cap in hand. Scott Brown, Neil Lennon, Callum Davidson while not particularly inspiring to me would probably do us a turn and work out in the short term. The first two will definitely be linked (Brown already by the DR) due to the Celtic connection at the club. And I'd fucking take John Hughes over Malky Mackay every day of the week and twice on Sundays. The only good Mackay could possibly do for QP would be to bring Simon Murray back down the A9 with him. We've been a hollow shell of a club since he was sold.
  18. If it is going to be Malky Mackay, I'd have rather kept Veldman. Would be a completely uninspiring appointment based solely on nepotism, and that's the nicest way I can put it. We'll be appointing our sixth manager in six years in the summer.
  19. I think there's plenty of things that people can critique and complain about, but taking the piss out of someone who learned English as a second language and still speaks it very well is ridiculous.
  20. Still scunnered after that yesterday. Thought it was a pretty even game at 0-1, the (deserved) red card changed everything and for 15 minutes after that we dominated and got two well taken goals, with some great assists from Thomas. Instead of going for a third and killing the game we made changes and it destroyed the momentum we had. Fox and Robson combined to be at fault for the equaliser, and the penalty is an absolute sickener, but rather than argue about whether it was a dive or not I'd rather argue about why we found ourselves in that position. Four points from our last 10 games with a -12 goal difference in that period. f**k all the talk of projects and journeys, without something changing there's only one place we're heading.
  21. Please take your shit crowdwanking patter back to the League One forum.
  22. It's been a pretty miserable run for QP and Falkirk were arguably one of the worst possible draws given their current form. We've been brutal against teams that have learned to sit back, absorb our sideways passing and play on the counter. I can't say I've seen anything of Falkirk this season, but I don't think they'll play like that. Maybe that will open things up a bit more for us going forward. But even if it does, we're so poor in defence right now I can't see us getting out with a clean sheet.
  23. Always a concern to log in here and have multiple notifications the day after an away trip but thankfully that was posted before I watched the highlights. Goals conceded were even worse watching them back, and Paton had two great opportunities in the first half and he made the worst possible decision both times to waste them. I'm not one to call for managers heads, but I share the worry of other QP fans and 5 defeats in a row going into games against bogey team Morton and Falkirk who are flying in League 1 is a terrible situation to find ourselves in.
  24. I don't even think it was the high line that fucked us today, it was the inability to defend a cross into the box, either from the wing that it came from or the opposite wing it was going to. A great goal scored inside a minute, but it was too much too soon. We battled well for the first 20 mins, but after that the pressure that we allowed Dundee Utd to put on us would eventually tell. How we got to half time without Thomson sent off btw I'll never know. Second half we just stopped caring to defend the wings. Both full backs were utterly terrible, and we failed to create any chances until we subbed on 18 year old Liam McLeish who had two half chances in the 90th minute. Unless we somehow find some magical free agents no-one else is aware of, or we show a serious, drastic change in tactics (which I think we did in spells today, but in the end we were humped) then I am really beginning to fear for us.
  25. I'm not at the game tonight, and I'm absolutely delighted at that. Today is a wake up call for Veldman and his tactics & philosophy. Maybe it's not just him, and it comes down from Beuker also, but it's quite clearly not working and needs changed ASAP. All the pretty passing and possession is lovely, but when you can't fucking defend and can't fucking score it means nothing. Great set up into Dundee United away.
