WoSFL Premier Division thread

Very much looking like any one of 5 teams for the title and 2 from 4 joining Medda (sorry) in heading down now. -

Delighted to hear how that's working out for you -
⚫️⚪️Ayr vs Thistle🔴🟡 - Tuesday 27th February 2024
jaggyness replied to R&Y99's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
Given we have united on Saturday I'd class this as a must win. So we'll inevitably do well to get a point and tbh I'm struggling to get excited about tonight, we seem to be stumbling towards the play offs again rather than establishing ourselves as perennial title challengers -
Thanks, hadn't realised they're actually playing one another this weekend either!

Am I correct in thinking Edinburgh Uni could be relegated this weekend with a defeat combined with a victory for East Stirlingshire?

Given how far back we're going, players like Alex Burns, Danny Lennon, Archie and Shaggy would all be absolute stick ons for me. I'd actually have Toastie ahead of BBG -
All joking aside, has anyone stood against Thompson or is it the same as far too many clubs where it's a closed shop?

Highlights used in the loosest possible sense of the word -
Probably not even worth mentioning that you haven't won away from home all season in the league

I still maintain we should have signed a wide attacker but given we've seen Diack, McInroy and Robinson all play out there lately it's perhaps less of a surprise we didn't. -
This looks a better batting track than the first test but India very well set. England's spinners look comfortable playing a containing role without looking dangerous in terms of taking a wicket. Cue the Indian spinners coming on and getting all sorts of crazy bounce and turn.

We're not signing anyone tonight are we? At least we have made some space for an incoming loan with McGinley and Williamson leaving -

If we had to go to the end of the season with the current squad what would people's thoughts be? For me another wide attacker is a must and if I'm being greedy I'd like a proven defensive midfielder too just to help out in the engine room. Let Lyon and probably zander go out and play somewhere for the remainder of the season. Seems strange we've recalled Ji Stevenson as he's now played for ourselves and clyde so unless we're sending him lowland league or lower he's done in terms of teams he can play for -

I see Brian was well enough to take the women's team today -

Obviously not an ideal angle but that does look offside -
The issue is that by preserving their own league they are only hastening the demise of Saturday afternoon football. Even with these two additions they are only at a status quo compared to the beginning of the season in terms of total clubs. Merging, with teams of a similar standard all playing each other would have given the whole amateur scene a potentially much brighter outlook. Circling the wagons from the caley (which has for more years than I can remember deservedly been lauded as a superbly ran league) is only delaying the inevitable I fear

There is a solution to the scheduling issue of the women's team final. They could make it the Saturday night with say a 7.30pm ko? OK Ross would need to do the pre match and warm up but that would (in theory) allow BBG to play and get to Tynecastle for ko. And fans could do both? I accept this is extra cost as they would need supporters buses to stay out longer and extra fee for this but it's less than 2 hours from Arbroath to Tynecastle so as long as traffic was OK and the buses left by 5.15pm then it's perfectly doable and means fans can attend both games -

I'm guessing here, the women mostly play on a Sunday and will probably already have been accommodated by their employers with respect to allow them to work shifts around this. -

Copied from what I posted in the thread on the women's football Roger Hannah made a really good point that I hadn't considered. Will the swpl, spfl and sky really want a load of negative press around their showpiece final because some of the thistle women's team are working and their manager is too? I think it'll be moved now -

Ross County v Partick Thistle (Sat 20th Jan, 3pm)
jaggyness replied to Sonam's topic in Domestic Cup Football
McInroy has done better in the middle sitting than he has in previous performances there. Undoubtedly a few changes coming from county we just need to keep doing what we're doing and not sit and try to protect this
