Cheers Stevie & THS.
I'm not an expert in eating edibles, but good shout out about watching the amount. I've once taken too much, and I needed to go for a hour run to ''get back to normal'', wasn't great being so stuck in my own mind.

Going to Amsterdam first weekend in December, anything off the beaten track worth doing?
I'm looking forward to trying an edible or two as well. Does anyone who's been recommend a good coffee shop?!
Cheers.

Plenty of decent pubs. Dumfries is normally praised highly by opposition fans for a good away day tbh (the fact it's an easy place to pick up points might help that, mind you). The ground is about a 10/15 minute walk from the town centre depending on your mobility. Plenty of pubs close by so it's not a taxi or bus job at least. Can't really comment on the hotels as I've not stayed at any in the town. The Cairndale is probably the fanciest we have to offer in the town centre but I'd probably go for a BnB ahead of it. There's a Travelodge and a Premier Inn on the outskirts. Not that far out but it'd be a taxi job. Wouldn't cost a fortune though.
If you're travelling by car it's actually a nice part of the country when you move further away from the town centre. Definitely worth a stay I'd say.
Thank you very much for the information, it's an area of the country I've never been so should be an interesting couple of days!
Appreciate it.

Started playing again this summer, after a 3 year break.
At my best I was about '14' handicap, so wasn't sure what to expect when playing again. Yet surprised how decent I've actually been - lots of 350 yard par 4s, etc.
Does anyone find the less they think about the shot, the better they hit it? Especially when it comes to chipping, pitching, bump and runs etc.

Soccerway says this game is on the 13th (Friday) but I thought it was moved to the Saturday?
I'm an Arbroath fan who lives outwith Scotland but back in October and trying to get to as many games as I can. Is Dumfries worth staying over, decent pubs? Palmerston close to the town centre, and any decent hotels?
Aye, maybe should head to the travel section and start up a Dumfries travel thread, haha ; but its a part of the country I have never really been to.
Cheers in advance!

Apologies, steamrolling in a bit without reading too much, but can anyone recommend somewhere I could bag a couple of munros close to Dundee-ish? I've done most of the ones near Angus ; so was thinking maybe somewhere around Perth-ish area? I've done Meall nan Tarmaichean a wee while ago ; but hoping to bag a couple more before I depart bonnie Scotia on Wednesday.
Also, somewhere with easy-ish parking - I read something about Ben Lawers hotel charging you? Or if you do a few, someplace where the car wouldn't be too far away from to walk back to.
Cheers!

I'm just back from visiting NI. Derry and Belfast.
The flegs thing is a fairly depressing site in certain areas but it's understandable ; but the people there 90% of them were just magic. Really warm, hospitable and mostly kind to this jobber of a Scotsman.
There's a great podcast I've started listening to called The Troubles (presented by a man from the south I think, Oisin Feeney) It's an amateur, part-time thing but IMO its well put together and offers an insight in to both perspectives.
Not that I was bringing it up regularly, but the places/people I met who talked about the troubles (what a ridiculous British/twee name for it, tbh). I heard ''we just want this place to work and provide services,'' many times.
I've always ''big team found etc'' identified more with the nationalist cause than the other side as an outsider looking in from Scotland ; but meeting people and learning a bit more, I just wish all the best for the place. It seems to be moving fairly progressively forward. Belfast is a very diverse city as well so there are immigrants moving there too.
Looking forward to watching this ; but can anyone recommend a good book that is netural-ish? I've ordered Say Nothing in the local book shop
The people I met were overwhelmingly, friendly, warm and incredibly helpful. TBH, one Loyalist kept correcting my use of Derry for Londonderry which I felt was pretty petty considering I heard other unionists call it Derry. It wasn't even him using that name that I disliked, it was him correcting me whenever I said Derry. Anyways, Stroke City is a better name.
I'm itching to get back, tbh. Maybe try fit in an NI league match this time. It reminded me of even friendlier Scotland, tbh or what Scotland was like a few years back. Folk holding doors for you, Hi to a pleasant stranger on the street etc if you locked eyes. Then again I'm from the east coast and most folk are dour as up here.

Derry play in the League of Ireland, they haven't played in the Irish League for over 50 years, unfortunately.
Haha, you surely knew what I meant! I even mentioned UCD.
Anyways, I thoroughly enjoyed going to a League Of Ireland match, Derry also went top as well. Brandywell is a fine wee stadium, and their fans were great - good luck to them and certainly got my Irish side now.
A few I got talking to said they would love an All-Ireland league. I guess that'll never happen for a few reasons ; but how about an All-Ireland league but keep the NI team too.

I'm surprised at that 53% Yes, fingers crossed it continues ; what a bipolar nation we are though when it comes to independence. I'm fully expecting now the next 5 polls to have Yes on 43%

I went through a period of listening to TalkSPORT in the run up to the 2010 world cup. Alan Brazil talking about phones getting nicked out if your hands, and drive by shootings at traffic lights. I don't think he was keen on going.
I listened around that time.
The Moose said no joke something a long the lines of ''Sandton is lovely, first class restaurants and bars but it gets dicier when you drive in to Hillbrow. I didn't see a white face for miles so I locked the doors and windows up,when in downtown Joburg,''

A bit off topic (considering Derry play in the Irish league), but I'm going to be in Derry in the middle of May and hoping to get a ticket to see them v UCD - although bit worried I'll get a ticket considering they are doing quite well in the league - but if anyone has been to a game, would love to hear about it

Haha, I was just thinking about that today.
Mikoliūnas is still playing and playing for Zaligirs. TBH, quite looking forward to going to the game!

Shows you how little England/the UK government knows or even cares about NI being British etc that they thought Loyalists would be happy with the original deal.
I know a person from NI (think he was/is loyalist) but said "Northern Ireland is the b*****d child, that England wants rid of and Ireland doesn't actually want "

Not listened to FR for ages, had some health/emotional issues of late but feeling better; and somehow TMOF came up on Spotify and sitting here greeting unexpectedly on a Monday night! Some of those lyrics! I wish so much he was still around.

Hi folks,
Bit of last minute decision but going to two Vilnius in 2 weeks middle of March weekend Wed to Sunday.
I fancy a game, but out of realistic logistical choices it's really only Zalgris I can go see ; has anyone been to a game there or walked to the LFF stadium from Old Town? Also, if any pubs/things should go pre-match recommend?
Thanks

When the baby boomers snuff it there will be
Circa 2029 I reckon, 15 years, a generation from the first vote
Maybe in just enough time to salvage our renewables wealth
9 years, and folk don't want it enough nor are the SNP radical enough to push it on.
More Anglo retirees, lukewarm independence supporters now in their 40s-50s might not even be that bothered about it.
Any second referendum will be very close. No chance yes will get anything like 65-70%

Can we agree that the ‘give it x until the end of the season’ stuff has already had its day in this thread?
Aye, it's pish patter.

Pink said at the Q&A that no players in lower leagues were good enough for us
That's surely nonsense. I'm not saying don't bring in loans but a bit of a variety of folk who've played around this level, plus a few of these.
Anyhoos, hope to feck I'm wrong and we get some sort of result today!

I hope these two are good, but DC with another panicked "ex EPL youth team" signing it looks.
Am I stating the obvious, but why but why not trying to get proven or experienced lower league Scottish players in?

Great numbers but just shows how fickle we are as a nation

Apologies and a bit off topic, but I'm thinking of going down to this.
How easy is it to park/drive to Firhill? Been before but went on the train, but need to get back to Dundee for around 7-8pm!

Excellent.
I know you shouldn't just cap players, but its been incredibly harsh he's only winning his first cap tonight - a very difficult one too. He's been in the squad for almost 3 years I think.
