  1. Got a decent run in yesterday from Paisley out towards bishopton to start with then i tried to follow the route for the 100 mile run so headed through Kilmacolm down to Greenock and uphill towards Loch Thom then round the Gryffe and headed back to Kilmacolm for a pint then paisley. Anyone planning to follow the sustrans route 75 round this Loch and the Gryffe the road at the Gryffe to start with is terrible not so much a road as just bricks and stones
  2. I agree with you. I will no doubt get a loan before i buy but i am getting right into this cycling now and i do need to go for a road bike as it'll be better on roads and cycle track im not at all disappointed with my hybrid i'll keep this one for sure and use it on the wet days etc but i do feel the need for speed. And we do the ride to work scheme in my work which helps you aim for mid to top range bike as you make a saving and dont take the hit all in one. So basically i need to wait until next year beforing making any changes or am i just tight Drooper have you looked at the pedal for scotland run yet Edit to add anyone else use endomondo app
  3. I've got the same problem i upgraded from a MTB to a Hybrid just last month now i'm chomping at the bit to upgrade to a road bike but with mr Mrs due to give birth there is no chance of me twisting her arm to upgrade bikes just now oh well maybe by the start of next year flyingscot i was looking at the pedal for scotland ride i might be intrested in doing the 50 miles also should be a breeze after this 100 mile stint in a couple of weeks which i am now worrying about the distance haha
  4. haha while you're taking in the lovely sights, think about me and flying scot going through the lovely area of Port which the cycle path goes through I done just over 55 miles yesterday headed towards the Port but once i came to the end of the cycle pather i head back down it and towards Kilbirnie legs are knackered today need to give myself a rest day could even face cycling to work
  5. Did you go by the old playtex factory then the street with every window boarded up lol I felt the need to pick it up through there
  6. Good distance and time got to be pleased, I've been painting today so missed the good weather fingers crossed it keeps up as I'm going out tomorrow to do 50 plus
  7. No problem with the email and nice one doing it in respect of your father in law on the flying scot bike Been out tonight going round the country roads around bishy houston area nice and hilly but scenic for once a change from the nice and simple cycle track, im doing the 100 miles in the same way it's a day out and not a race but one of the boys from my work is hell bent on racing it good luck to him lol i just want to finish the race dont care about the time maybe set goals on the next one. This is the first actual offical run i've taken part in but really intrested in taking part in more so if anyone comes across in the future post them on here if you could.
  8. Wife beater fingers crossed it does what it says on the tin lol
  9. Yeah i'm trying to leave one day at the weekend to get at least 50 plus miles in, and do what i can during the week trying to do more road routes and hills as im guessing the 100 miles wont include alot of cycle track I can but hope. Keep thinking about changing my bike but as i've just recently got this one i think i'll stick with it and wait until next year before upgrading to a road bike as we surely have only a couple good months decent cycle weather left lol somehow once it comes to dark nights and cold morning the bike takes a break
  10. Have we all retired our bikes for the last few days?? How is everyones training coming along for the Glasgow 100 & Pedal for Scotland, I've just been going back n forth from work this week about 15 miles or so, Also done 20 odd going out to Kilmacolm where i came across a cycling team in full flow, those boys can fair shift
  11. Team P&B going for this now lol well 100 k 100 mile either way its going to be a good run out, I thought about the lesser option but after my trip on sunday i decided the longer option can be done.
  12. I done 55 miles on Sunday there took me 4 hours cycling time according to my cycling app but we did have a break at the pub which wasnt included of course, I've said its goign to take me between 8 and 10 hours (i hope) to complete things 100 mile trip You'll do the 50 miles in a breeze i done that on my hybrid you'll blow that time on your road bike
  13. Yeah i was really confident of doing this then something clicked when i seen the route, As you say if its windy i think the run between Greenock and W Kilbride will be torture, Going to go to bishy and hunt out the start of the route head to greenock and check it out, The stretcher team will be busy with me dont worry
  14. Yeah it is a rough road and the kilwinning road is just like anyother back road but with this cycle coming up i'm guessing its better off getting training in on those B roads as the routes no doubt use alot of them, I was dreaming that it would be all cycle path terrain lol
  15. When you come off cycle track at Glengarnock you come out in an industrial estate then its all back roads to kilwinning not bad but not great
  16. done just under 55 miles today, went from paisley to kilwinning and back then out to kilmacolm got caught in that down pour on the way home apart from that it wasnt bad
  17. just back from another run another 27 mile on the clock was somehow faster than yesterday and done longer, might have been that pint at the pullman 32 mile is my longest yet. going to have to increase the miles over the next few runs to get the legs ready for 100 miles not setting myself any targets on the day just be happy finishing
  18. Just finshed the sign up and it offically the 100 mile option we shall see on the day lol yeah mate i'll be hanging at the back lol Done a 25 mile stint today as a warm up well on the gps 25.84 mile lol every bit counts out tomorrow for a little longer. Planing going on a monster cycle on sunday well hopefully
  19. Fair play to all who stopped with there Mrs, I havent stopped but i have cut down alot since she became preg, i even wait until she's in bed some nights thats before starting thats just the kinda guy i am lol i dare say once the baby is here i will pretty much cut it out. And as for sleeping im sure i'll survive with what i get lol
  20. With my Mrs just over 6 weeks away we cant agree on a boys name well she has plenty but ive said no to them all girls name was easy picked just struggle with a boys So in 6 or so weeks will it be all change, well the alcohal levels go down in my system will the fun times stop will i need to sell the playstation? or is it all a myth lol
  21. Signed up for the Glasgow 100 now just need to decide if its 100 mile or 100k i'll go for need to go out and get some long distance cycles over the weekend
  22. Might just stick to the two routes i do one to Lochwinnoch and half the Greenock run stop where it goes onto the roads i think. I'll need to look at that pedal for Scotland thing as it took me over 2 n half hours doing that greenock run but given the hills on the way back up in greenock were torture im sure i could have got that down a bit. here's my bike i know what you mean about the hybrids with road set up my mate has one of the specialized hybrids which is more a road going bike.
  23. I was actually looking at that route at the weekend think i'll give it a pass now, Done the lochwinnoch run on sat that was enough for me. Been looking at sustrans trying to find out new routes might head up towards Glasgow way next time. Really thinking about getting myself a road bike now
