  1. I'm numb to the nonsense that comes out of his mouth now. He has proven on several occasions that he doesn't really know what he's doing. What annoys me most about him now is the way he presents himself in these types of interviews. The way he speaks, in particular, is fitting of the chief exec of a bank, not a professional football league.
  2. No, it's true. The case for a lot of clubs though (Hearts being one with Tynecastle). Ventspils' stadium is actually more UEFA 'friendly' than Pittodrie despite being not much more than a running track. Had a wee nosey back down there on Friday morning after the game. Plenty of offices in the clubhouse type building you saw the players walk out of that UEFA will probably use for delegates, doping rooms etc (currently at Pittodrie, there are many rooms which have to be cleared for the arrival of UEFA officials). Obviously they have the 5m run off around the pitch too. Whilst there's no set date as to when a club must meet the guidelines from UEFA as things stand, the club are keen to be in a position where they don't have to apply season by season. Who knows what UEFA might demand of smaller teams in the future, what with the idea of closed shop Champions League, third European competition etc being talked about. The biggest concern is that, if the club is to advance to the group stages for example, then UEFA will become more aware of how Pittodrie fails to meet their demands.
  3. Pretty sure that's a myth. We did't have a third kit last season.
  4. It doesn't matter whether you think Collins is right or wrong about this. The disrespect it might show to other teams in the league isn't the main concern here either, IMO. It just does not help the image of our game. It's hard enough as it is with the richest and possibly biggest (disagree on it being the best!) league in the world just south of the border. With poor sponsorship and a piss-poor TV deal, these comments are rather unwelcome. We should be bigging up our game as much as possible here, whether it merits it or not. Certainly hasn't done the aforementioned Premier League any harm. I cannot fathom why anyone within the game itself would want to talk it down. Surely everyone associated with Celtic wants the Scottish game to be stronger? A few quotes in the press isn't going to change that itself, sure, but Collins, as Celtic assistant, can actually be fairly influential with his words. He should know this. Also, IMO, his comments don't really make much sense considering Celtic's most recent high-profile additions. With regards to McInnes' comments after the Rijeka game (and similar comments he made after our game versus Real Sociedad last season), he was simply remarking that those sides were better than any team we could face in Scotland. Whilst Collins, in effect, was saying that too, he's gone a step too far by also taking a swipe at the clubs themselves. McInnes' comments were hardly derogatory of the Scottish game; Collins' most certainly were.
