  1. We’re thin on options at CB now and I can see the defence which finished yesterday will need to play the final two games. A bit lop sided with three left sided defenders with only Finn a right footer. Regardless we should definitely have enough to get over the line for invincibility. At a push, according to McGlynn, Bisland can be moved inside to play CB but I’d rather not test the theory thanks! Word on yesterdays game, tough as hell and red card merited, accidental but defo reckless from Coll. Our potent attack got us back in front but lost sloppy goals in the end. Not blaming McCann nor Hogarth, it was just a bad day. A huge shout out to the fans, however, for keeping the belief alive. The KM7 backed the team (rippled through to the main stand) the full 90 and it showed, dragged the team towards a point and over the line, superb backing. I was hoping for 100 league goals ‘for’ this season and hoped for 4 yesterday but the red card put that to bed. Think we’re sitting on 91 goals atm, so still possible and Cal’s chasing golden boot. What a season and enjoy it while it lasts Bairns, ain’t over yet.
  2. Just sing the MacIver song the full 90, the place will be bouncing!
  3. Ethan Ross v Formartine for me. Postage stamp corner, lasered from acute angle, with the left peg!
  4. All correct and a great pitch. I’m wearing my ‘empathy hat’ just now. We‘ve signed Keelan Adams for RB and I can’t see Finn breaking in to our midfield as that’s very strong. I’d wager these factors have been playing on the lad’s mind.
  5. In that case I’d fully expect us to have an offer on the table for Ethan to take up. He’s a young lad and I’d hope he’s enjoyed his time with us enough to stay a while longer. The number of players extending early has been staggering and can’t recall this high level take up, if ever. We, as a club, are clearly doing something right! Sign it Ethan.
  6. The 2 or 3 deals, for me, is likely only 2 (ie offers for Yeats and Mackie). Tait and Ross we’re sort of at the mercy of Hibs and Raith’s intentions with them. I was hoping some clever slight of hand with our budget would enable us to make some kind of permanent ‘offer’ for these two as their quality is there for all to see. Better to table some kind of offer for them than none at all.
  7. Here’s a scenario where the wages were diverted from Yeats (likely leaving), McGinn, Lawal, Allan, Bisland and Sam Long. Then to be ‘reinvested’ in to keeping Tait and Ross. Shuffle the pennies around as well as the players. Worth a try.
  8. A good point. Although I have it on authority (his auld man!) that he’s not homesick and wants to stick to the central belt.
  9. Fully echo your points regarding Yeats. He’s a young lad and ambitious. I just think Falkirk are a good fit for him at this stage of his career. As much as he is progressing as a player, the Club is also progressing up the leagues too. In that respect he could have served his apprenticeship by the time we reach the Premiership, which on balance maybe sooner than folk think given the strong momentum we’ve picked up. A win-win for the lad and the Club should an extension be signed.
  10. A special mention to Tait’s goal which I’m still salivating over. Absolutely love how far wide the ball swerved back (wind assisted) for the goal. A thing of beauty.
  11. A phenomenal two weeks following Falkirk. From the relief and emotion in Montrose to the extended celebrations yesterday. 12 goals in two games and a great time to be a Bairn. A mention to the commercial team who are riding the crest of a wave and could sell anything Falkirk related just now! And it will only strengthen the Club’s finances. Success breeds success. I’m sure McGlynn and Smudger are preparing already for next season and by my count they bought themselves 5 weeks before the end of season. As mentioned the names we need to nail down are Tait, Ross, Mackie, Yeats and Shanley. I think all these players merit an extension and it’s hard to quantify the importance of a tight harmonious dressing room, who fight for each other. Every player has played their part and back the next one up. When’s the last time we had that? A proper team unit. A good while I’d suggest.
  12. No issues with Nicky extending and echo others that an experienced goalie is needed alongside him. Wonder who will get the nod tomorrow for the ‘title winning’ game. It’s Long’s month and Nicky won’t be selected til April (ie Monday). Cheers Lincoln.
  13. The mention of transfer business always makes me think of, what I believe to be, the best piece of transfer business we’ve EVER conducted. Involved Eddie May - sold to Motherwell, and in return we get Paul McGrillen, Stevie Kirk, plus £100K - which we promptly used to bring in Mo Johnston. I’ll never see better transfer dealings at Falkirk than that, and challenge any Bairn who can think of better for us(?). Jim Jeffries I doff my cap to you
  14. It’s good for the lad he’s found some form. It all depends what plans McGlynn has in his head for next season, since Allan’s still contracted to us I think. If he keeps up this form there maybe a part for him to play for us next season.
  15. Exactly. The Annan timewasting showed 0-0 suited them. Even losing 1-0 or 2-0 today would’ve been good damage limitation in a relegation fight for goal difference. As it happened 1-1 in the 94th minute may have been beyond their wildest, much like their Accies win. From our viewpoint, we need to grind out results and get to 80 points. As McGinn in his post match said, the ‘getting over the line’ is the hardest part of winning a title. In fairness, he talks from experience so let’s hope the players take heed of these warnings.
