  1. Hey Guys, looking for a bit of help. My Son has asked Santa for the Motherwell away kits/tops from 2019/20 (white) and 2017/18 (black) both Macron, which obviously can't be bought anywhere. Any chance any fellow well fans have kids grown out of these and are in decent condition? He's 9 but quite big for his age. Happy to pay a decent rate for them, and it would save the magic of Santa for maybe 1 more year Please let me know. Thanks, Colin
  2. Hey everybody, Up until about this time last week I had read every page of this thread, but due to some family circumstances I've fell behind and only seeing snippets in the MSM I don't have a clue what's been happening in this saga. Any chance anybody could fill me in on what's happened over the past week or so??? Cheers!
  3. I know this is off topic to this brilliant point and laugh thread, but really??? I don't think I've ever read anything so I'll informed. Henry the 8th may have separated the church of England from Rome for his own means but he certainly didn't instigate the reformation. I take it you haven't heard of Martin Luther? The reformation started in earnest with his publication of his "Ninety-Five Theses". The main push behind this was his protest against the Catholic Churches practice of selling indulgences (very basically, selling absolution in exchange for cash or other recompense).
  4. Pretty sure he was using the UEFA coefficient, not FIFA rankings. Seeing as we're talking about club football it does make sense to use the main measure of the relative strengths of leagues in Europe. If you are gonna bring up the national team, then yeah, we are pish.. but how much of that blame goes to the muppet in charge?
  5. Motherwell are in a slightly different position to most clubs just now with the move to 'Well Society ownership. The actions of the board can't be seen to go against the views of the fans as they are still actively trying to get people to sign up. This is different even from the situation at St Mirren, where a third party has set up the fan ownership body, who are trying to buy out the existing board. (as I understand it)
  6. I think the vast majority of us would be content if they are treated like anybody else would be. Ie. allowed to apply for any available place in the SFL and if their application is the best of those applying then to be allowed in at the bottom of SFL3. That would be an acceptable outcome which could be considered fair. However, down inside, I just want them to die. Scottish society would prosper without this beacon of hatred at the centre.
  7. No need for that, we all know there are cloak and dagger meetings going on in the background by various muppets that run our game. It's only natural to speculate on which muppets are involved in which nefarious schemes! I'm just pretty sure Motherwell weren't involved in this. It's not like our board to come out and criticise others who may have been, I wish they would do just that in this case. As much as he's only an employee of the clubs, I think Doncaster is te main protagonist in this particular story. He allegedly has bonus related pay based on the size of the commercial deals he can arrange, so he is doing absolutely everything he can to save these deals by trying to save the dead Donkey that is Rangers. Short termism in the highest degree by an employee who's coat is on a shoogley peg and is looking out for number 1. The problem with getting people with no concern about the future our game into influential positions within it. b*****ds
  8. 'Well released a statement to shareholders and 'Well Society members, who were being given a vote on what the club's stance would be. This had to be done so that we all knew what we were voting for, so that we all knew the possible consequenses could be when we voted Ranger's out. This cannot be used as an indication that we are involved on this sh!te. Motherwell have confirmed (on steelmen online) that nobody from the club had anything to do with the stitch up proposal that was put to the SFL. The club have also launched the "Steelmen Forever" campaign, the purpose of which is to try and make sure we do as much as possible to weather the financial fallout predicted if and when Rangers are booted to div 3. There is no evidence Motherwell were involved in this stitch up and much evidence against the possibility. We know Doncaster and Petrie were involved, and Gilmour has been very supportive of the idea from what we've heard. I would not bet against Lawwell being all over it.
  9. In the past (Gretna and Livingston as examples) it has been the losing play off finalist. Would be so again.
  10. If you had read my post, I'm not advocating a single product package, but a Scottish Sport TV channel. The numbers were based on the subscribers of Setanta, before they got EPL on board and the main draw was the SPL. £10 a month is what ESPN UK currently charge I believe, that would be the level at which this could be set. I'm no business or TV expert, so there may well be glaring holes that are being missed!!!
  11. I actually strongly support the setup of a TV channel, though as posted earlier: Caledonia Sports TV However, 2,000,000 subscribers is fantasy land numbers. It would be viable at around 10% of that, but I would see around 500,000 as about the upper limit across the UK.. And worldwide, I would imagine that support from ex-pats would be nowhere near enough to justify the outlay of trying to move into these markets. I assume your views are coloured by the claims of two so called "Global Brands". If the sky deal was to get slashed to the £3M that is being quoted then if there was ever a time to investigate fully the viability of the idea it is now.
  12. As we all know the sky money is the dealbreaker across the board here. It's a shame that we don't know what their position is, only what the cockwomble is implying to us. Saying that £17M will be lost to the game implies strongly that the sky money would dissapear completely, to this end I have sent the following email to sky complaints. I know it will have no effect, but if enough people do the same perhaps there may be a glimmer of hope that the situation could be made clearer:
  13. I know I'm a bit late in the day with this. Chat finished a good few pages ago on the subject, but I've only just caught up. I can't remember the source, so this is from memory. I think Setanta had in the region of 150,000 subscribers in Scotland before it started showing EPL games. By the time it crashed there were 250,000 subscribers in Scotland. On the assumption that the majority of the early subscribers in Scotland were due to the SPL coverage then you could use this as a less than accurate ballpark figure. 150,000 people paying £10 a month would give revenue of £18M a year. Obviously there would be a number of costs to be taken into account with regards setup/running which would run into the Millions. If less than £5M in costs then this would be a net gain on the current TV deal. Advertising income could boost this slightly. However, it's very unlikely to ever happen because of the unknowns (ie. the number of subscribers you would actually get) and because of the delay of the money coming in (high initial costs, time to build subscriber base). For while I've been saying that there may be merit in a Scottish Sports channel. SPL TV would be very limited in scope, and although the SPL dominates the Scottish sporting landscape, it's not the only game in town. And it would be extremely difficult to fill an entire schedule with only the SPL even with chat and magazine shows thrown in. Whether it would be worth trying to deal with SRU for Warriors/Edinburgh games, or internationals is questionable as they would try to drive a hard bargain. But even if that was a no-go you might get buy in from the small (but often dedicated) followings of some of the minority sports if given decent exposure. Get a couple of thousand subscribers for sports coverage you could pick up for peanuts. Maybe it's just pie in the sky, but if I won the Euromillions and had a spare £20M or so kicking around I think it'd be a worthwhile venture. Possible coverage for Caledonia Sports TV © HanoMaSano 2012: SPL - Live games throughout weekend and good quality, in depth preview show. Long Highlights packages Sat/Sun night SFL - 1 Live matches a week, extended highlights of 1/2 games. Shorter preview/reaction shows. All Domestic Football - Saturday Afternoon Panel show (Soccer Saturday equivalent) SFA - Scotland Internationals - could be added once the station was established if money was available. SRU - Scotland Internationals - same as above, not sure what the BBC pay for these rights just now. SRU - Glasgow/Edinburgh game on a Friday night EIHL - 1 Live match a week (Matches generally Sat/Sun/Wed evenings) choice of Clan/Stars/Capitals/Flyers Shinty - time wise clashes with football - could show extended highlights of 1/2 matches on a week night. Golf - Pro tours bought up by sky, but could do a mag style show "Scotland's Hidden Gems" highlighting lesser known great courses across Scotland (there are many) Curling World Tour - maybe it's just me, but I'd tune in to see coverage of Scottish teams competing in these events. Fantastic Sport. Lawn Bowls - Very popular sport in Scotland, some coverage could be possible. Fishing - Some sort of magazine style show would be possible again. Cricket - Not sure if it would be possible to buy Saltires matches separate from sky's domestic coverage. There are many other things which could be included every now and again, possibly Speedway, Martial Arts (Scotland often has entrants competing at a high level in Judo for example), Scottish Open Badminton etc. I may not have fully thought this through, but I'm sure there must be some way of making it doable. Getting a Scottish spin on sports on TV would be refreshing. Listening to the Mark Lawrenson's of this world on commentary would drive you to drink.
  14. I'm not actually sure why that particular advert sticks out in my head. I've just had a problem with the use of "Up To" in adverts for a long while, it doesn't surprize me that the SPL are using this kind of meaningless jargon.
