  1. I'll be interested to see if you can still use the season ticket code to access the live stream on a Saturday. At the time I bought my season ticket, it was clear that you would be able to use it to stream live if you were outside the UK and Ireland. If that has changed, I won't be terribly pleased. It's ridiculous that the SFA, SPFL or whoever are hell bent of making it difficult to watch championship football online - it generates additional income as well as allowing people who can't reasonably attend in person (whether in Chicago, Colombia or Carwood Street) see their team. I get it that the top tier games are subject to a Sky contract, but that doesn't apply to the lower divisions. It's the 21st century ffs.
  2. Under the rules, it's a clear penalty. However in my opinion the rules are daft. I don't think for a minute that was deliberate handball, which is what used to be the criterion, but checking the results page, I see we won 1-0, so not going to campaign for a rule change this week. Pleasantly surprised that we seem to be evolving into a team that can win games. Just need a striker now and we're good to go.
  3. It's called the Wee Dublin End because there used to be a lot of cottages just to the west of the ground which were occupied by some of the fairly large Irish community that lived in Greenock. Nothing bigoted about it. Much like you have "Derry", which IIRC isn't actually anything to do with sectarianism either. The view from the WDE is actually pretty good although a roof would be nice. In bygone days when you could move about within the ground, sometimes used to stand there if we were attacking that end. I can't remember when they put in the original bench seating but I think it must have been in the 1980s.
  4. Can't disagree with that. If players are good enough, they should be in the team whether they're part time or full time. A hybrid model would probably be a good compromise although it might make training more complicated, but if players are full time they should be able to train in the evenings 2 night as week and they'd have the rest of those day for extra training if they wanted to really go for it. We can't really afford to pay sufficiently high wages to attract a higher standard of full time player. I'm not sure how much difference it makes having our current players on a full time basis anyway. if we ever reach the top division or if we get to a point where we're near the top of the championship every season, there might be a case for completely full time football, but even then it eliminates some decent players who have other jobs. would anyone with a good day job want to give it up to play football for £300 a week? I doubt it.
  5. Aye, I'd half forgotten about that. Actually on reflection it's almost as if they are leasing shares as they need to keep paying or, if I understand it properly, do they not see their shareholding diluted? It seems a fairly convoluted scheme. i need to go back and read through what actually happens and how they exit if they decide to. If everyone could be persuaded to increase their monthly contribution, that could go a long way to improving the viability of the fan ownership model, but people can't afford to throw a lot more at it. If they did, and we performed better as a result, it would probably increase the MCT membership as success breeds success. We need to reach that tipping point.
  6. The club has to be run on a break-even basis from now on. Otherwise the only way to balance the books would be via external investment, which I wouldn't rule out entirely but it has to be above board and transparent - why on earth would anyone want to remain anonymous in these circumstances? - and it would have to be done in such a way that the MCT shareholding was above 50% as a minimum. however bear in mind that external investment would in essence be a lump sum that, if spent, was then gone, so not something you could repeat year after year. As far as loans are concerned, the only way that would make any sense at all is if it were for the purposes of increasing income to the point where the amount of the loan could be paid off through the profits from whatever investment was deemed appropriate. Someone suggested the club should buy the Norseman and something like that might make sense (if it was razed to the ground and a decent premises put in its place) if it were deemed to be capable of making a profit for the club. A bit of thinking outside the box is needed to develop alternative income streams that can subsidise the team budget. I see little point in the idea of selling the club to some outside party who may not even be a supporter of the club. We haven't come this fat just to give up.
  7. For a team that was sub-optimal due to injuries and suspensions, we seem to have done OK against Falkirk and also against Carlisle United who had previously run up quite a few goals in their pre-season games. Some of these young players look to have a lot of potential. Our game at Hibs next week might be a good test to benchmark where we actually are (I understand they had a weakened team out against Falkirk last night), but it doesn't look to me as if we will necessarily be rooted at the bottom of the division. We need more firepower up front and a creative midfielder would help too, but at this early stage of the season there may be some grounds for optimism at least.
  8. Yes, my mistake. I'm just making sure that when he wins his first international cap, if there's any dispute about his provenance, the Mc will prove he's Scottish.
  9. Don't think that Morton team was anywhere near our first team starting line up. We wouldn't have Easdale in any serious starting line up. It did cross my mind that after the success of Garrity at Annan, maybe Imrie was looking to offload Easdale to Annan on loan. Would actually be the best thing for him as he's not going to progress beyond occasional short sub appearances at Cappielow. He needs to go somewhere to get game time and imho that means dropping a level or two.
  10. I know Lyon seems to have struggled a bit last season but we know there's a player there, and generally when he came on he improved the team. Blues appears to have improved (from a low bar starting point) but if it was a choice between him and a better midfielder, I'd have been happy to see him move on. I don't actually think Wilson was that good - his tectonic plate movement goal against Dunfermline seemed to sum him up in the 300,000 years it took to reach the net after he hit it. By no means a total dud like so many we've had over the last 20 years, but he's not as good a some are claiming.
  11. There's an air of stagnation about that list. I'd like to see who Imrie is looking to bring in - permanently or on loan. Wouldn't be surprised if Reilly was one of them.
  12. The accusation of transphobia against anyone who has concerns about the GRA is a lazy & inaccurate smear. Quite why Nicola Sturgeon and her pals have bought into the scientifically illiterate Stonewall assertion “transwomen are women” is probably best debated elsewhere, but I think you’ll find that taking that to it’s logical conclusion would affect adversely most women’s football teams in due course. Many women are extremely concerned about the attack on their rights that this proposal involves. I have no connection with Alba btw. Currently not a member of any political party.
  13. I'm not sure about Strapp at centre back due to his lack of height. I think we lost a goal at Inverness during the Gus era when he couldn't get a decent header on a long kick out and they scored. Also might hinder the long throw tactic if he's not able to bomb up the wing - although most of the time his throws are wasted. Might go 4 at the back instead with Lithgow and Ledger at CB, and Strapp & Brandon at LB & RB. As long as we don't see Muirhead deputising for McEntee or anything daft like that.
  14. You'll be dancing in the streets of Locharbriggs on Friday evening...
  15. Hamilton has made a few mistakes - Tumilty's goal for Raith in the 2-2 draw for example looked like an error to me and last week against Queens he made a mess of a shot and then mucked up a kick out to set up the second goal. However he's still a decent keeper and he has saved us on a lot more occasions than McAdams ever did. On Saturday in the last minute he collected a corner kick under pressure where a lot of keepers wouldn't have held it. I'd maybe take Gaston over Hamilton, but there are no keepers in our division that I would say are better than Hamilton.
  16. A dreadful game of football. Hamilton are terrible - all they do is pass the ball from side to side across the back four. We were a shadow of our post-Xmas selves. Wilson was really, really poor. Did he bring the wrong boots, expecting to be playing on a muddy grass park? Wilson was pretty much the cause of the goal. I expect he will be dropped for the next game as Imrie doesn't tolerate players performing that badly. I'd say Hamilton are pretty safe now, and we're actually not that far away from safety due to our game in hand over Hamilton and Ayr. a win over Partick would be nice tomorrow night but I expect the game will be off.
  17. Should be three dots apparently. it's called an ellipsis. however if it occurs at the end of a complete grammatical sentence, it still needs a full stop as well, so that would be 4 dots in total. Every day's a school day....
  18. I wonder what correct score odds you could get for a 10-2 Morton win... ETA: Just checked on Bet365 and you can't get odds on a score higher than 6-2. however 5-0 or 5-1 is 150/1. Unlikely, but possible.
  19. When you consider that Mcpherson had Lewis Strapp and Reece Lyon on the bench rather than starting, you can see one reason why were were doing so badly. both players are now back in the team and playing outstandingly well most games. Not just that , but players like Blues and Muirhead, who were regarded as pretty poor, are now showing what they can do. The improvement in Blues in particular has been amazing. I think a lot of that is being used to do things that they can do rather than just running around aimlessly. The addition of a decent right back has also opened up a new avenue from which to launch attacks. Imrie has re-tuned the orchestra, and he's conducting his own symphony. As a bonus, the players and the fans aren't at loggerheads any more - They are putting on a show for us every week. Long may it continue.
  20. I was amazed how easy that was for Arbroath. They were by far the better team and although it was only 1-0 (and frankly it looked like a bad goalkeeping error for the goal), I never got the impression that Killie were likely to score. I said when Arbroath signed Derek Gaston that it would prove to be a terrific signing and so it has turned out. Solid and sure. Was a terrific keeper for us and you won't find many Morton supporters with a bad word to say about Derek. He had a fairly easy night last night but produced the saves when needed.
  21. Quite likely, although it's probably not too difficult to impress on him not to give away penalties from now on, rather than have us put under pressure by not having anyone with pace on the left of the centrebacks. Ledger has been generally solid if unspectacular in his time with us. I'd rather have him in the team than one or two of the alternatives.
  22. McEntee for Mclean and you're sorted. Although I'm not sure if you need a left footed player as left CB.
  23. You were. You went 2 up after 13 minutes. I think from the highlights you almost scored again within seconds of Queens kicking off after the second goal, but the ball came off the inside of the post.
  24. That was my own first thought too - although I don't know what Wilson's particular strengths are.
  25. I'm wondering where Wilson fits into our midfield. Is he going to replace Blues (who has improved a lot this season).
