  1. If Forbes could put on a couple of stone and slow down, he could be the new Andy Ritchie...
  2. I think the electrification of the railway line was done in 1967, so maybe that top photo is from 1968 as well. Some great players in the lower photo. Not sure who the keeper is but can see Jim Kennedy, Preben Arentoft, Stan Rankin, possibly Willie Allan, Possibly Morris Stevenson, Joe Mason, Bjarne Jensen, Per Bartram and Gerry Sweeney.
  3. Only thing wrong with Dumfries is the fact that it's 100 miles from Cappielow. That and the fecking seagulls. And the semi-derelict town centre On the plus side it's considerably drier than Greenock, and it's not in the Borders.
  4. Not sure why I can't erase RH's quote and insert VT's but anyway, where do you start with such utter nonsense as VT's post above? BTW VT, I am from Greenock. I just happen to live in Dumfries at the moment. If you sleep in a stable it doesn't mean you're a horse.
  5. Centre of Edinburgh to Coldstream, which is right on the border, is 48 miles. By your stupid logic, Edinburgh is in "the borders". I don't think even you would attempt to claim that. In fact the Isle of Man is in the borders by your definition. You'd better write and tell the people who organised local government in Scotland that they've made a mistake. Be sure to thank them for playing.
  6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dumfries_and_Galloway Your knowledge of the geography of southern Scotland is inaccurate. There is a small interface between the eastern end of Dumfries & Galloway and the border with Cumbria, but the area known as the Borders, both in local government area definition and in traditional demarcation definition, is further east/northeast. Langholm arguably should be within the Borders region (they play rugby there) but it isn't, and the vast majority of D&G has no border with England. On this matter, you are just plain wrong although I know you will never admit it of course.
  7. ^^^^Verge of tears ^^^^ Idiot found ^^^Insert your own cliche here. Dumfries is not in the Borders. It is in Dumfries and Galloway. That is a fact. There is even a clue in the name for you. Thanks for playing anyway.
  8. I don't live in the Borders region. The area I live in has an SNP MP and is certainly not as union/Tory orientated as some would have you believe. Thanks for playing anyway etc. Whether you like it or not, the colour combo of red, white and blue has connotations that are better avoided in a Ton strip. Anyway the yellow one is a far better design.
  9. Half the entries look as if they were designed for Sevco. No Morton strip should ever have red white and blue on it at the same time.
  10. I don't care whether Tam is catholic, protestant, muslim, atheist, humanist, or Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. He always gives 100% for Morton and appears to enjoy playing for the club, and he is a decent player for us. If he was subjected to abuse as claimed, no wonder he lost the rag. I know we do have a (fairly small) minority in our support who inhabit a lost world where abuse of a sectarian or racist nature is still routine. Time they learnt it's not the 1960s any more. Or the 1690s for that matter. Leave that sort of nonsense to the ugly sisters. If it happens again, Tam, just Cantona the idiots.
  11. Wouldn't really be missed based on what I've seen so far. Last time he scored was probably that goal for Queens at Cappielow in our 3-2 win last season.
  12. I hope Morton tell them to feck off. We cannot go through this season with no recognised strikers.
  13. I'm unable to be impressed or unimpressed by Gary Oliver as in all the games I've seen this season he has been invisible. Tidser you can't miss with his dayglo hair, but GA? No idea.
  14. He was played a bit deeper last season. If played as an out and out striker he will get goals. Very fast. FFS Morton. What sort of dross are we going to sign now?
  15. I don't think they have the acumen to think like that when it comes to commercial decisions. It's much simpler - someone picked the cheapest strip they could find and then found a way to make it look even worse by using inappropriate stick on logos. That is the Sangyong of football strips - cheap and nasty.
  16. Gasparotto is a good player and I reckon with better players round him he'd do well, but he's not the finished article. Might be better with another year in the Championship. If Therangers don't re-sign him, I would hope we'd try to keep him at Cappielow, but he will end up at a higher level sooner or later. I'd like to see us try to keep Denny Johnstone on too. I don't see him as being good enough for Birmingham but at our level he's excellent although with a tendency to disappear in some games. Scored some decent goals although to me he maybe doesn't think quickly enough to be a top striker at a higher level. Sometimes looks to me more like a midfielder frankly, but his value to the team makes him worth having around. Maybe another loan deal could be arranged.
  17. Sometimes. In my opinion he seems to be a lot more effective playing on the left, as on Wednesday night. On the right, he tends to cut back and mess around rather than setting up the killer ball. Same against QoS earlier in the season - he switched to the left and we started tearing Queens apart. Seems to have a good partnership with Mark Russell down that left hand side, and gets back to cover in defence too (which compensates for Mark Russell losing the ball when he goes on a wander upfield).
  18. Ridiculously small fee but Rae shot himself in the foot when he told the papers he would accept £50k. Incredibly inept negotiation. Rotherham have got their player at the price they first offered FFS. Had Rae just kept his mouth shut and refused the first offer, they would at least have come back with a higher figure. The reduction in gate money this season resulting from Tidser's departure will be more than £50k as we will be further down the table.
  19. Despite a horrendous run over the last 6 weeks or so, we still seem to be in the top half of the table (just!). I don't think we'll win the title, but when we get Caff and Tidser back I think our results will start to improve. Why can't our poorer players get injured occasionally? Next league games is QoS at Cappielow. Revenge for the 4-1 earlier in the season would be nice. Going to put that on my letter to Santa.
  20. I am fairly sure I read in the papers some time ago that Livvy would definitely be relegated to division 3 if they went into administration again. Presumably the ever-efficient and on-the-ball SFL will issue a statement this afternoon clarifying the situation. Now, am I going to have to cancel my plan to go to Palmerston tomorrow? Do Queens still have a game?
  21. OK, I'll fill you in: Many years ago, mighty dinosaurs roamed the planet. Then someone founded Ferranti Thistle, who begat Meadowbank Thistle, who moved to Livingston and became Livingston FC. The rest is history. Happy to help...
  22. That's what I call a good result. I suppose you'll be putting the baseball bat on Ebay today?...
  23. Wilson Field are the liquidators (previously administrators) of Gretna FC. If they are pursuing a case against Livvy and it is connected with Gretna FC, presumably Livvy owed money to Gretna FC and haven't paid it. Of course it may be totally unconnected with Gretna.
