I think there's a bit more to it than that - Strathaven Dynamo (amateur section) previously played in the Scottish Amateur Football League, and then some clerical error meant they were thrown out for a year. They've essentially now just taken on Machan United as their amateur team.

Is there a list of league composition yet? Leaving it a bit late to announce it, with only just over 2 weeks till the season starts.

Eastvale actually seems to be called East Vale, but even the club themselves now call themselve Eastvale on their Facebook page. They are registered as East Vale at the SAFA (and also, the crest on the gates of their ground is 2 words). They actually started last season in the championship, but then didn't fulfil their fixtures, and are now demoted as a result. Rosebank Rangers merged with Fife Athletic in October 2021 (both were in the Championship), and is now Rosebank Athletic KoFAFA hasn't bothered to update the club's name. Lang Toun is the new name for Kirkcaldy Blues.

It seems they applied and were accepted way back in February/March - so they must have known the league was coming to an end.

It's named itself the "Saturday Morning League" - they thought the name Strathclyde was a relic from the previous century (I'm not sure what their reasoning was, as Strathclyde is the former region that covered pretty much the area the league covers). It seems slightly weird to me to not have a geographical descriptor in your league name if it covers a restricted geographical area. A league in Paisley calling itself "the amateur league" would be odd.

Interesting that Shetland's "reserve" league contains 3 first teams (formerly of the defunct Shetland Works League). Shetland Banks, Wastside Rebels and Bressay Sharks. Orkney and Midlands are the only other 2 associations with reserve leagues. The reserve leagues in Orkney and Shetland seem to be totally separate from the rest of the divisions, but previously the reserve teams in Shetland played in a cup with the Shetland Works League teams. Is there any mechanism for any of the 3 teams mentioned above to be promoted?

The Ayrshire isn't a regional cup, it's a league cup. Now that the Fife leagues have merged, the Fife Cup is largely a league cup now, with the former "Tayside" clubs not participating, while the North is also in effect a second league cup, as all entrants are from the Aberdeenshire AFA.

All national and district results have now been wiped from the SAFA website with the new season coming up, with no way to check previous seasons...

Not sure 2nd division teams win the Scottish very often. A couple of mistakes in the PENS/ET scores (most of the games that say X beat Y AET, the result was actually the penalty shootout score). Also, Westerlands (GGP) 0-5 Viewfield Rovers (SSM) is mentioned as 0-3 on the GGP League website. Haven't been able to confirm which result is correct.

Glasgow Colleges looks like being incomplete as well, as I can't get a response from them. They have 2 accounts on Twitter - the unofficial one was posting league tables from February onwards, and is actively posting about pre-season just now, but they've not responded, and neither has their match secretary (granted, I only wrote to him 3 days ago). The results listed as "L" in the table above were mostly played, and I've found some of the results, so I don't know why they weren't entered into the website. In the results section, there's also full results on some days for 1 or 2 of the 3 divisions, with the other division/s results completely blank. Hopefully the results that are available will be enough to give a general idea to use as a starting point for the rankings, as it's taking up too much time at the moment searching for individual results, for very little gain.

Glasgow & District Saturday Morning is going to be impossible I think, unless I can get hold of this match secretary, who seems to be in Arbroath(?!). I can probably piece together something based on what's on the website and the clubs' social media accounts, but it's not going to be complete. Can't believe that nobody else has the results - is the entire season record really in the hands of just one person?

I'm hoping to integrate the amateurs in the same system as the seniors (i.e., with the division-by-division comparisons). The hardest bit will be ranking the Highland amateur teams due to their almost complete lack of interaction with the rest of Scotland, but I'm hoping the few matches I do have will be enough to get them into the system. I'm also using the current (2022) season results for these 8 leagues. The one thing that might not be possible is to get the club badges for all the (700-ish) teams, so I might just use a standard badge for all the amateur teams. At the very least, this should provide some kind of way to compare amateur teams that doesn't currently exist, which could be useful for teams when the various national and district cup draws come around. Awaiting (hopefully positive) responses from the 2 remaining leagues, and then when I get the league setups for 2022-23 I can start putting it together properly. Still not sure it will work, but there's only one way to find out!

Thanks - I've just emailed the match secretary - he should know where the results are if he doesn't still have them himself (the match secretary is in charge of the results, so if he doesn't know, then I don't know who will!). The unfortunate thing about their website is that there are a lot of "3-0" results - and it's not possible to tell whether the matches were played or if they are forfeits, as no distinction is made. I got most of the MIdlands AFA results from their Facebook page - I'll double check them with this page now, as there were a few matches towards the end of the season that seem to have been awarded as "0-0 wins". For the Glasgow Colleges, there's a few blanks in the results grids, and also seems to be a lot of "L" (presumably forfeit?) matches. I've contacted them on Twitter and they've told me to email their match secretary, as he should have all the info. I've also got results for most of the teams who folded during the season. I think the only one I wasn't sure about was Drumchapel United PYM in the Central Scottish AFL. The CSAFL seems to have just wiped them from the results section, so I'm not sure how many league games they played.

Why do Wishaw have the full name of "Wycombe Wanderers" in their name? Usually if a club is named after another, they don't take the town name as well.

Yeah, that'll be me. I started in 2019-20 before Covid ruined everything. I've got complete results for 14 of the 17 winter leagues for 2021-22 (making a list of matches and seeing if it's feasible to have the amateurs join the already-existing senior ranking I've had going for a few years). Midlands League, Glasgow Colleges League and the (now defunct) Glasgow & District Saturday Morning League are the 3 I still have to do, time permitting - quite hard to find a spare hour with a 1-year old in the house!

This is the (former) Strathclyde Saturday Morning Amateur League - they've just dropped the Strathclyde part as it didn't reflect their membership. Some GDSM clubs will join this league (it's the only other Saturday Morning league in the area) - not sure what the others will do - move to afternoon football, go out of business, or move to Sundays?

It seems this league will be folding, so there will only be 24 amateur leagues (16 winter and 8 summer) affiliated to the SAFA, with all clubs either moving to new leagues, or stopping playing altogether. Currently trying to collect all the results for the 2021-22 season (going to make another attempt at adding amateur clubs to my existing Scottish club ranking), but it's proving to be quite a task due to the haphazard nature of their website, and the fact they've deleted their Twitter account. If anyone can help, please let me know. I'd like to see a better structure for the central belt amateur leagues - there seems to be quite a lot of odd geographical quirks at the moment.
