  1. I can’t quite describe how I feel about this Scotland set up just now. It’s like the best summer holiday of your life, just stretching out ahead of you. It’s utterly, utterly joyous.
  2. Any excuse to post this piece of late 80's magnificence. Key takeaways for me are the state of the pitch (the bounce before wee Mo scores the first, f**k me), the Jock Brown phraseology ("a prodigious leap, a POWERFUL header - seriously, why can't commentators talk like this anymore), and overall scenes as we win with a goal THAT late.
  3. Perhaps the interviewer knew that they’d got the golden quote from Rodgers and thought that, rather than be criticised for not asking follow up questions, people would actually focus on the frankly shameful comment from Rodgers in the first place.
  4. I understand it perfectly, but absolutely refuse to accept it. The b*****disation and, I dunno, Talksportification of the English language and football coverage in particular makes me fucking weep.
  5. Never assume that just because you hear it a lot, it's the best term to use. It was probably first used by a gremlin like Paul Merson or something. Anyway, I'm away to "transition through the thirds" to make a cup of tea, going from my office, past reception, and into the kitchen.
  6. He was asked after the PSV game as to whether starting with Ryan Jack would have been better. He was clearly bristling and said that PSV were so superior it wouldn’t have mattered who started. Fast forward to Saturday where he was lamenting the performance of his team and he stated that you can ALWAYS do something that can effect the game. He’s an absolute charlatan. Handy with Wyscout and a laptop, and will have boardroom suits eating from the palm of his hand. But he’s no more a football manager than Davie Dodds is a male fucking model.
  7. Yep to both and, staggeringly, they pretty much made their money back when they sold him on (Sunderland I think?).
  8. This is so true, and it’s something that rips my knitting something awful. It’s the same in England. Have a listen to how many clubs, or their fans, want “top four”. Or how many say they should be winning a cup. It’s an absolute nonsense. Brighton, Villa, Spurs, Chelsea, I’ve read supporters of all of them saying they should be aiming for silverware this season. Then you add in the top four from last season, one of whom is the Petrochemical Death Star that is Man City.
  9. The same could be said for most of the big clubs though. McInnes, hounded from Aberdeen despite second places and a cup win. Ross, the same at Hibs, despite a third place and two finals in a season. Even Davidson was chased from St Johnstone having won two trophies in the same season. I fully appreciate that in the case of McInnes things had probably gone stale having been there for a while. It does appear though that relative success at other clubs is rewarded by a P45.
  10. I think McCabe is perhaps just a *bit* too young. Also, I don’t want to risk a certain local journo having an aneurysm.
  11. Oooft, jings. I would imagine the names in the frame would be people who have worked at our place before. Dougie Imrie and Marvin Bartley being the obvious ones. Ian Murray really impresses me too, any time I’ve seen his teams play. As long as it’s someone young and not some managerial merry-go-round dinosaur. To be honest, I think it’s a bit of a moot point as I fear we’d have far bigger issues than looking for a new manager if Martindale were to leave. That’s another discussion though.
  12. He stays in the West End. I'd be stunned if he wasn't interested. I've often wondered if his weekly budget comments were a way of him working his ticket. His record in keeping us in the top flight is outstanding, no matter how you look at it. Whether Hibs would want him is a matter for them.
  13. Hmmm. Not sure. I think they’ll be saved by virtue of the fact that Burnley, Luton and Sheffield United are in the league. As bad as Everton are, they will surely get more points than one of those three.
  14. Inject this into my fucking veins. We haven’t scored since January!!!!!!!!
  15. This was/is me, to a certain extent. Think the first game I saw them on the telly was in 1989, I was thirteen - they beat Liverpool 3-1 at Old Trafford, and I was hooked. They then went on to win the FA Cup the next season and the ECWC the season after but were still kinda average. It was only from 1992-93 onwards that things really changed. Everything about the club fascinated me - Busby, Munich, Wembley 63 and 68, the great post war team. I had strips, magazines, VHS tapes, the lot. The club now, by and large, is an absolute shambles. The neglect shown to the stadium is a disgrace. The player investment has been awful - a scandalous amount of money has been spunked on average players, players who are still getting games even now. Culminating in the utter disgrace seen over the last few weeks regarding Greenwood.
  16. Some fucking mug on the Aberdeen v Celtic thread had the temerity to say that European football was a class above Nicky Devlin’s capabilities. Bet he feels like a clown now, eh?
  17. If the price advertised on the board added up to that amount then yes, I can well believe it.
  18. Speaking from personal experience, I’ve worked with countless CEO’s who have impressive experience on paper and yet soon showed that they couldn’t run a ménage, never mind a business. Anyway, I’m sure you have more pressing stuff to be getting on with than discussing the CEO position at Livingston. Or maybe you don’t.
  19. Directors at Rangers and Aberdeen do so knowing that they have a fall back, that being huge support bases relative to ourselves who provide funds in incomparable numbers when put up against ours. Your dig at our CEO is beneath even you.
  20. A win here would hopefully kickstart our season. I'd take a point right now though, hopefully a scoring draw. Our away goal scoring record really is lamentable, and this is as good a time as any to rectify it. Having said that, Hibs will be looking to avenge last night. If they decide they're up for it, then who knows.
