  1. Straight red, feck man man. How on earth did he have no chance of winning the ball, literally a few milliseconds late. The evidence is there, no elbow, no going for the player, he was clearly trying to win the ball and a freak accident occurred. So you thought you seen him going in with the elbow but admit the camera shows that wasn't the case. You can again clearly see from the highlights that his elbow is nowhere near Keith's head. When you jump you naturally jump with your arms out, every footballer does but again no where near his head or face. There's zero chance Collins went into that challenge to danger an opponent, its that simple.
  2. I was there that day and the Falkirk fans booed Derek Collins for that challenge and it caused a bit of a meltdown in the cowshed if memory serves me right. I was 15 at the time. I'm sure @AyrshireTonwill remember better than me. To say he meant it and led with the elbow is quite frankly ridiculous. Watching the above clip of it, he clearly tried to win the ball and is just ever so slightly later than Keith. No malice, purely accidental. Horrible to see but to blame Collins for it, f**k me man!
  3. That's an impressive number of season tickets, fair play. Our crowds have been similar to yours and Ayr over the years yet we get nowhere near that many. Think this year we are around 1100 which is our best in years. Think Ayr are around 1300. Usually we only shift 8-900. We did have 2000 home fans on Sat which is encouraging, just need to hope they stay with us.
  4. Well the fact Quitongo immediately reaches for that area suggests he did and from my good view in the Cowshed, he did IMO.
  5. If was a perfectly routine cynical challenge then absolutely, I'd expect any of our players to do the same. It was the way Murdoch went in with the elbow catching Quitongo around the neck area which is the issue and why experienced campaigners in Muirhead, Broadfoot etc went mental. Had he just tripped him, that stramash wouldn't have happened. We all know Murdoch isn't a dirty player but that was a nasty one from him and deserved every bit of abuse he got from Morton fans and was very lucky not to get a red card.

  7. We face the very realistic prospect of having 2 players on the bench. I'd say there needs to be a level of urgency in the transfer market without being desperate. I will be disappointed if we fail to bring in at least 1 defensive option this week.
  8. 7/12 last season against Raith was pretty good. On Sat, would like to think we will have a couple of defenders in but I thought the same for yesterday. Jai in a sling yesterday and Oakley pulled up so assuming they join Baird and possibly Mullen on the injury list.( no idea what his injury is) Leaves us; Mcdonald McGrat O'connor broadfoot waters Power Gillespie Bearne Crawford Boyd Muirhead Subs- Blues, King. So aye, we need a couple of bodies ASAP. Expecting Raith to be a challenger this season so would take a point but no reason we can't take all 3 if we play like we did in 2nd half yesterday.
  9. Grimshaw is the only big loss and he will be replaced soon. As for the better prepared team, don't give it that shite. You lot were going into it after beating Alloa 6-0, beating St Johnstone away from home and topping your league cup group. To say you weren't prepared is just sour grapes nonsense.
  10. Miller played left( or right) in a front 3 for us. We didn't play wing backs, it was 433/4231. He did play the last game of the season at left back only because Calum Waters and Lewis Strapp were injured.
  11. Gillespie hasn't had the best of starts this season so wouldn't be surprised if he finds himself as a squad player rather than a certain starter. If he continues to play Muirhead in the number 10 role then i can see Crawford and Power as defensive midfielders with King, Gillespie and Blues on the bench. Really like the signing of Power. Very good mix of Youth and experience in the squad now. Still concerned about tomorrow if we don't bring a defender in but at the same time I understand not rushing in and bringing any old defender in for the sake of it. If we need to put a midfielder there for 1 week and wait some more time, so be it and hopefully we do enough to get through the game.
  12. Not convinced he actually wants the seeding scrapped, more raging that his team isn't seeded because they won their group. If they were seeded, this wouldn't be a story as he would have avoided Celtic. Agree overall though, the seeding should be scrapped at the knock out stages.

  14. Most fans seem to be going into the league campaign with confidence that their team will have a good season. Possible exceptions being Caley and QP fans who had poor league cup groups. I'm sure that will quickly change in a few weeks when a few clubs are bottom with 0 points! Bring it on!
  15. Really wish Morton would just put away fans in the cowshed, regardless if they bring 100 or 1000. Atmosphere is so much better and aways fans prefer it to sitting in the main stand.
  16. You finished 21 points behind Dunfermline last season, needed penalties to get passed a piss poor Accies, been out the 2nd tier for 10 years and up against established Championship clubs with bigger budgets. Not sure why you're surprised to be honest. You may well have a decent season but you're expected to be down the bottom.
  17. The obvious concern for us is we only have 3 fit defenders at the club. Cameron Blues has been deputising as a make shift rb and has done well enough but he is suspended after being sent off on the last day. Now we are through the groups, Dougie will have more funds to bring in players and said yesterday he hopes to have a couple before next Saturday. If we pull a big fish today, I'd imagine that will help even more although I'd imagine many fans would want you lot or Airdrie. Would like to think we get at least one defender and don't need to play another midfielder as rb. Apart from that, we look a threat going forward. Robbie Crawford has added goals to his game and is probably our must important player. Quitongo, Boyd and Mcgrattan have all started the season well too and young Alexander King looked very good yesterday so wouldn't be surprised if he starts over an out of sorts Gillespie. Up top big Gorgeous George will cause problems with his physicality. I just hope Dougie doesnt play Muirhead as a number 10 off him. Bench either him or Oakley and have Boyd, Crawford and Quitongo in behind one of them. Should be a good opener as long as we get a defender or two in. Hopefully you lot are in the shed or wde. 2-2.
  18. Hi Michael. I've always liked you as a player, when we had 3 or 4 boys coming through from the academy, you were always the one who showed the most promise for me and you have done well this season coming off the bench. Issue is we have a lot of competition on that area as you well know with Jai, McGrattan, Boyd and Bearne so not sure we have space in the squad for 5 wingers when we only have 3 fit defenders. Keep doing what you're doing lad.
  19. Morton need to go out and win by a couple to make sure. Raith could easily take 3 or 4 off Annan to make it interesting and Dundee have the advantage of playing on the Sunday so knowing how many goals they need to score. 2 or 3-0 and we should be fine. Stirling beating an out of sorts St Johnstone is a worry.
  20. Big man was mostly solid for us and should do well in league 1. When Baird got injured I did wonder if Dougie would reach out with an SOS. Between you lot, Cove and the Accies, you should have enough to keep Falkirk down 1 more season.
  21. It's amazing how we can all view content so differently as I just seen pure frustration from Dougie and reading between the lines, all is not well.
  22. I've missed the last 2 games as I'm over in Turkey but it sounds like O'connor has done well at RB and will be a decent cover option for when we eventually sign a proper RB. We know Broadfoot can potentially play there too if absolutely needed. Would imagine a decent RB is now the absolute priority for Dougie. Ideally the 6th defender would then be a Lamie type who can play CB/LB. All being well, we can prob wait until later in the window to pick up that player, possibly as a loan.
  23. Aye dont think we will replace all of them but I'm hoping its closer to 20 than 18. Keeper, RB, defensive cover and a quality midfielder to compete with Blues, Gillespie and King are musts for me. The fact he was looking at Deane suggests he does want to add in that area. If he adds another attacking option then great, rumour that the Liverpool boy has all but signed.
