  1. Significant improvement last night. A lot of misplaced passes certainly, but the conditions were challenging to say the least. Spong's tackling is as good as I've seen; Ferrie again outstanding and I felt the defending in general was up a notch. Paton showed real aggression and he might well be what I'd hoped he would be. There was a definite glimmer of hope there.
  2. Not as much pressure as the Bairns to get out of Div One, I would think.
  3. Aye, Neil Lennon is a real winner. It's actually only nine games since some people were telling Coyle to f off back to India. How many games do we give managers at QP nowadays before we chase them? Is it six, seven?
  4. It's an outstanding quote. Hopefully Beuker, who is still a very young guy and has time to go to Ajax or wherever if he does a good job at Queen's, stays with us. If he goes, I do feel we're doomed.
  5. We're in the fortunate position of having the costs covered. Willie Haughey doesn't need to be concerned with the minutiae of keeping the punters happy, but we have people who should have that on their agenda. Don't get me wrong, I'm loving it that we're where we are and I appreciate it, but there's plenty that could be done fairly easily to make the day at the football better.
  6. Back to the game - the best entertainment of the day was Morton's 27 taking a shy. He was like a five year old.
  7. Anyone, home or away, is the worst possible game for us at the moment. Concerning that both Thomson and Hepburn came off. Both were whacked a couple of times and I reckon neither substitution was tactical.
  8. That was grim. We didn't lose and we didn't lose a goal....and that's about it. Some bizarre refereeing - that's a stonewaller near the end, and the line up of the Ton players for the free kick just outside the box was about 7 yards away. But it was still grim.
  9. Yip; the pressure is most definitely on but we will have to buckle up for a challenging season. The coach is here for the long haul and we can only hope that it turns round soon for everyone's sake. Him and the team need a bit of breathing space. Me too
  10. Not much wrong with the size of the pitch. Other factors to blame. If we're to pump you, we'll need to score four as we'll probably lose three. I'll take that. Home win.
  11. Had my first ever roll and mince in the Strath Bar and was offered (and took) a second. Magnificent. Then we go a goal up in a minute. What a day, I thought. Can it get any better? A big naw. The day took a helluva a dive after that. Atrocious defending and we scorned a couple of decent chances. We did, though, continue to try to play football and looked not bad going forward but if we can't sort it out at the back, this is going to be torture.
  12. I think you'll find that we're a rich man's Gretna. Nobody, including United fans, was too bothered about rich guys pumping money into their clubs when they benefitted. We're being very, very unfairly targeted here. I'm hurt.
  13. We've been utter gash the last couple of games and it's hard to see the run of defeats ending on Saturday. We desperately need a decent performance or a pish performance and a win or draw. Hopefully Thomson is back where he should be in midfield. Longridge at right back? Probably. I'd take a draw now but that'll change after a few sherbets. Away win banker.
  14. Spoke to Dom Thomas after the formal session and he said that when they went through the film of the game afterwards, it was mistake after mistake. Longridge said much the same; the players made too many mistakes. Entertaining evening. The guys came over very well.
  15. Random ramblings....The division is certainly stronger than last year with no obvious duffers like the Accies and Cove, so a half decent side might go down. I'd agree with the point made that we'll finish strongly. Certainly it'll be stronger than last year! Mind you, we kept it going until the last game which was definitely helped by the quality of the opposition. The size of the squad will ensure the youngsters are given minutes on the park. Personally, I'll take a few poor results if it allows the kids to improve.... but obviously it's of prime importance that we stay up. It's going to be an interesting season
  16. Spot on and my major gripe. I walked into the Scotland game v England unsearched and then had to have the terrorist wand rubbed all over me on Saturday. This pish is just for show. Cast your mind back to the Old Firm's League Cup final in March; all the flares made the place look like Hiroshima. How do guys get these things in if there is the same level of security at QP v Dunfermline? Answer is, of course, there isn't. Unless they're' hidden in prosthetic legs.
  17. What red card offences?? The camera doesn't lie, as they say!
  18. Not sure what point you're trying to make. The Scottish League is shite as European results would show you (although Queen's are unbeaten in Europe, of course!). Veldman has been careful to say that what he's trying to do is long term. He'll be under no pressure to gain promotion this year, and most of our fans accept that. If we just wanted to go up without the promotion of younger players, as we're trying to do, we would have signed the usual ex Premier jobbers like Lafferty and Broadfoot.
  19. I don't know who edited the highlights, but we looked better than I remember. Poor defending for the first goal (Thomson maybe unlucky with a bad bounce) and the second was a cracker. Didn't see any red card offence, same as what I remembered from the game, and I was very surprised that we had 14 shots. We were poor and the Pars were deserved winners. It's six games in, a fair change in playing staff who are being asked to play in a way that's probably different to anything they've played before. No cause for alarm.
  20. "a comeback to be remembered for decades" No wonder he blocked him.
  21. Six games in, three of them victories and the manager's position is being questioned. FFS.
