  1. So we should snap your arm off to get a manager, because… he’s been a manager before? I know we are at a low ebb but that criteria alone is dangerous. Like Shadwell, I don’t think he’s solely to blame for what happened at Hamilton, but has done nothing there to suggest to me it would be a success. If he wasn’t ex Falkirk, nobody would mention him. And before you ask, no, I’ve not got an alternative at the moment, but like the vast majority, want Sheerin and Holt out. We’ve tried experienced and inexperienced managers in the last 4 years, none of which have worked. However, going off previous League One winners recently in McCall, McGlynn, Campbell, may suggest a rookie isn’t what we need, but who knows?
  2. Ben Hall is poor, no denying that, but he’s still better than 3 year deal Brad McKay. Other than that, spot on.
  3. At least now you lot will start taking us seriously when we tell you how bad we are.
  4. This is going to be an absolute doing. What we would give for someone like John McGlynn as manager. Credit to him for changing his style of play from his previous Raith tenure. Connolly appears to be in the goals recently, how has he been for you? Must admit I was surprised he ended up in the Championship.
  5. I mean you’ll know your own team so fair play on the bookings. But wow, that third bet.
  6. Sorry Clyde fans, I thought we were bad. My word. We played well but were allowed to. Won’t get an easier game than that all season.
  7. Connelly barely completed a 90 minute game for us last season, had been decent prior to that but was surprised a team who finished second in the Championship signed him. Injuries/fitness seemed to be an issue. McManus was brilliant for us but there’s always been the question whether he can make the leap from League One to the Championship. Seems to be doing well in the Welsh league but I’ve no idea what level that is in comparison to Scotland. Pretty sure most fans would take him back if the option was there.
  8. If results go a certain way next week, we could end up joint second bottom. We haven’t even hit our lowest ebb yet. Sleepwalking into it.
  9. Hard to get excited for games anymore based on the last 4/5 games. I think he’ll revert to Ruth up front on his own as we fall behind and then bring Keena on for us to get a draw.
  10. Not a sentence any Falkirk fan would say. Funny how these things work out.
  11. Just out of interest, if they don’t want to come to us because of that, what clubs do these players end up at?
  12. Nah that’s fair and perhaps badly worded by me. 6 games is enough to tell us our strengths and weaknesses, and what we need to do. 9 games/a quarter perhaps more about the league overall, rather than just us. Be interesting to see if/when Morrison and Williamson come back in what that adds, but who knows when that will be.
  13. One of these teams has brought in a new manager this summer, rebuilt the team, and has got the good feel back amongst the supporters again. The other team is Falkirk. After 3 defeats in a row it’s important we not only stop the rot but get back to winning ways. Dumbarton fans: apart from the obvious, what’s the main difference between Duffy’s team last year, and your new managers team this year?
  14. 5 points between 1st and 8th in the league after half a dozen games. Only QP are unbeaten so far and not one team has won more than half their games. Unlikely to remain as tight as that throughout the rest of the season, but does look like there will be no runaway winners and it’ll be who can just get enough points on the board. For us to do that, it’s being more clinical when we get chances to score in games we are dominating (easier said than done), and being a lot better at the back in the games where we aren’t playing as well (only one clean sheet out of 6 so far). This was similar last year to a certain extent. I think the majority on here had wanted us to look at an alternative management team EVEN if we went up, due to the style/lack of game-plan from M&M. We collapsed and Thistle, who looked terrible earlier last season, managed to put a run together and now find themselves 4th in the league above. We won’t get a perfect manager at League 1, or even if we were back in the top flight, but I am encouraged by what Sheerin is trying to do so far (low bar compared to previous managers perhaps) but he will need to learn from his mistakes quickly. Not sure what he can do on the signing front until January now (maybe another loan?) But think most can agree there’s questions regarding DoF recruitment for him. It’ll be a test of Sheerin if he can somehow get a tune out of some of the dross that’s there. Fans are rightly concerned, angry, upset that we are in this position/league for the third consecutive season and are worried about it being a 4th. It’s up to the club and this team to prevent that from happening. Will they be able to do that? I’m not as confident as I was (especially with injuries to Morrison etc) but once the first round of fixtures are played, we might be in a better position to tell.
  15. Our poorest performance since Sheerin came in. Can see why Alloa have been unbeaten at home. A tight pitch and pressed us well. Won’t give away many clear cut chances if they defend like that in this league. We had a few towards the end of the game but usual, not clinical enough to take them. Would have been more than we deserved today anyway. With only Nesbitt as a threat in the 3 behind the striker, this prevented any real creativity. Morrison being out is a real blow. Hopefully not too serious and means it’s not just down to one player to try and do it all.
  16. Falkirk come into this game wondering what would have happened if we’d signed Greig Spence and/or Liam Buchanan, but will have to do with Michael Ruth on loan from Aberdeen. The Wasps surely wondering if they’d have been better keeping Buchanan over signing Sammon. How has Durnan been for you so far? In ex Alloa news Hetherington, our captain, getting mixed reviews so far. In terms of team news, Brad McKay only played 45 minutes so not sure he’s ready for a game of this magnitude so reckon the team will be. Not sure about Morrison’s fitness either. How will Back Pass Barry set his team up for Saturday?
  17. Back to his old EF days, where he managed 6 goals in 32 games in League One? I’ve no idea if Ruth is any good or not but Dowds for me isn’t good enough for League One, never mind the Championship. What’s this about two wingers we play who never pass the ball early because they feel it’s about their stats? What on earth does that mean?
  18. Knew Greig Spence had a terrible goal record recently and I was ready to laugh Buchanan’s as well, surprisingly better goal record in league one, albeit from a few years ago. Would still have been laughed at on here if we had signed him, and have to question why Alloa didn’t keep him on (genuinely don’t know).
  19. Euan Henderson on loan to Alloa from Hearts. Striker. Wonder if we were looking at him as one of the couple of loans? Don’t know a lot about him but fits that profile of loan striker we may be looking at.
  20. That’s how I seen it. It was the wrong decision and I hope he reverts back to Nisbett in the middle ongoing.
  21. Rubbish. Look at any of our games over the last, what, 2/3 seasons? And you’ll see lots of Falkirk fans saying how bad we were and have deserved to lose. The performance today was still better than anything Hartley/McKinnon/M&M served us. When you miss a penalty and have 2 offside goals, not your day. As others have said, we need at least 1 (capable) striker in before the window closes. Wilson and Sammy have been woeful so far. Impressed by QP not letting us play and limiting our chances to shots off targets.
  22. Nesbitt was captain and wearing an armband.
