The wannabe psychologist in me would love to speak to Ian Ross, he looked a brilliant prospect when he came into side - not only doing the normal midfield stuff but being really dynamic in getting up the pitch by running past players. Bit by bit that got lost from his game and he ended up at left back I think. Did he just not hit his early potential? Lose confidence? Get the risky part coached out of him? It's particularly curious as Marc Fitzpatrick followed almost the exact same path a decade later.

Anyway, two teams where it's safe to say you've no idea what you'll get on Saturday. I feel confident saying we'll win or we'll lose or it might be a draw.

Ian Ross was such an important part of our promotion, playing LWB in Hendrie’s 3-4-3. I’d imagine his assists stats were high double figures that season.

from memory, he hardly kicked a ball the following season in the top league. Was it some sort of abdominal injury? From there he drifted away and end up down the leagues.

Hypothetical, but if he’d been fit I’m sure we’d have performed better that season.

Robbo sees Gogic has a defender as do his home country. The move into midfield weakens our back line. Gogic sweeps up everything at the back and starts our play. His role in defence outways movibg him forward to midfield. Kwon and CBM will start. I only hope its not Flynn and Kwon

We’ll potentially see us move more to a 5-3-2 with Kiltie dropping deeper. Can see Scott starting and playing off Ayunga or big Mika.

Agree to a certain extent. We need to start scoring again.

However, yesterday only one of our chances was presented to a forward.

Jamieson's chance wasn't quite as easy as I thought at the time, but if he hits it either side of Butland it's a goal. He needs to do better.

I can't really remember any really bad, clear cut misses from our strikers over the past few games. I just don't think we've created much.

I think James Scott will help. In his short stint yesterday he put one superb ball into the box, which created a great chance for Gogic, which, but for a great defensive block, had "goal" written all over it. Scott is also quite a composed finisher from what I've seen of him.

I thought O'Hara played better yesterday, as he was playing a bit further up the pitch. So that might help create chances once he gets his full stamina back.

Agree 100% on Gogic. We should be rolling out the red carpet for him.

Definitely creating fewer chances without Strain in the team. I also feel that we create fewer chances with Ayunga up top as he wants to get on the ball quite deep, rather than get beyond.

Strain. Ayunga. Combination of both. Couple of big games coming up where we’ll definitely need to be scoring more than one goal.

McMenamin has been played far too often out of position. I really don't get pushing the boat out for him and then hamstringing him by chucking him at wing back.

Unless SR thought he could coach him to adapt to that position. However it became apparent very quickly that he cannot play there.

There's definitely a player in there, just not a wing back.

I do feel sorry for him.

He’s definitely better when playing with Strain. It’s probably the reason why Strain started the season so well too.

Strain attacks the overlap and McMenamin cuts inside. I’d imagine he had the final pass to Strain for most of Strain’s assists.

Think he might have been the main backup to Scotty Tanser. Unlucky for him that Tanser has been fit and playing very well. Correct decision to recall him, as he badly needs games to show what he can do.

article from back in the summer. He needs games and has the raw ingredients to be a player, but there’s definitely something around his discipline (tactically and getting sent off twice!).

So he is in the area seeing his family and wanted to catch our game too while he has time away over the festive period. What's not clear? (Dalry boy)

That’s not the answer to the question though….

In terms of chucking balls into the box, surely it would make sense to start big Mika? I also think Ayunga should drop out and put him back in for Celtic.

agreed on Strain being a big miss. Our system is built for him. A 4-3-3 makes sense with him missing, but doubt we’ll see a change now.

Prospects for this thread if there’s a winner just got even worse. Motherwell win and it’s a heavy dose of ‘Paisley minks can’t even beat our reserves’. St Mirren win and it’s a heavy dose of ‘Enjoy your win against our reserves. What a minter, celebrating a 1-0 against a Motherwell side fielding three teenagers, six fringe players, and Senga the tea lady in goals’.

Please let this finish 1-1. It’s for the best.

Haha just beat me to it!

Pity. He's still a decent option at our level. Maybe Burgh have a Sugar Daddy with deep pockets but I would have thought that Jason could still be a decent backup signing for us, someone we could easily have afforded to tempt back to rejoin us rather than dropping down to non league level.

Not sure what’s happened, but his career has dropped off the last couple of years. Don’t think he was getting much of a look in at Cove, although could be wrong.

Tanser has been excellent in the cup games and the league games, probably our best player so far this season. Doesn’t get the credit he deserves, he’s got a cracking left foot.

The new structure definitely helps him. Having Kiltie in front of him just gives him that added cover defensively, and someone to play closely to in an attacking sense.

In our last tragic attempt at staying up two seasons ago our easiest win of the season was a 1 0 in Paisley which adds it on to one of our most successful away grounds in the past decade including Peaso's late winner as Tommy Craig sent you lot down.

Hens teeth you say. The Hens in paisley must be as fucked as the human population. Another tooth to grow tomorrow as I taunt the away fans come the 89th minute.

Nobody taken up the charity bet I see. Shitehouses.

    Thank you.

89th minute? That’s a bit premature. Probably still around 11 minutes for us to find the winner.

If Baccus leaves, I'd imagine our target will be a permanent replacement, using some of the money pulled in from the transfer.

Lowry would have been good back up. Can't really see him featuring that much for Hearts. A bit of a strange deal IMO.

Yeah, doesn’t make much sense from a Hearts perspective.

Doesn’t he play as a ‘number 10’? If so, he wouldn’t really fit into our system.

To be fair, every club in the league are divisional rivals.

We are a club who let's be honest, are interchangeable with about 7 or 8 other sides in Premiership and Championship.

Dundee are certainly one of those sides so yeah, I'd say they are a rival side.

Doesn’t matter. The Johnnies are going down this season. We can be pals with the rest 😂

Confident we’ll be bringing in another keeper now and, given his wages, maybe improve the quality of the LWB we’ll look at.
