  1. He doesn’t believe it will impact anyone. Best leave him to his delusions.
  2. As the lyrics to The Workers Song says: And when the sky darkens, and the prospect is war Who's given a gun and then pushed to the fore? And expected to die, for the land of our birth Though we've never owned a handful of earth
  3. Followed up with another zinger. 10/10. Will read again.
  4. That is a fantastic first post. I will follow your career here with interest.
  5. I”m aware of the “red legs” in Barbados, but wasn’t aware of anything similar in Trinidad.
  6. In Scotland it is irrelevant - “pressing charges” is one of these English things that people think applies everywhere.
  7. It must be tough being a Labour supporter, and believing in some of these policies, to then see them torn away from you. You have my absolute sympathy.
  8. I’ve never experienced any of the adult behaviour you have described. Where are you flying to, and with whom?
  9. You did read the article? It says nothing about MSP’s pay, other than to confirm it is increasing. It is Scottish Ministers pay that they have capped. This isn’t complicated.
  10. Who mentioned “random member of the public”? And if he was elected on a manifesto, can you point me to where it said that they wouldn’t accept any pay rise voted through? There is no argument. Writing to someone insisting they take part of their salary and donate it to charity is p***kish behaviour.
  11. Basically, you thought the article said something it absolutely didn’t. Feeling your embarrassment from here.
  12. Which would completely negate the point made by @KingRocketman II. Writing to someone insisting they should give part of their salary to charity is just the politics of envy. I also don’t get the problem with the payment of legitimate expenses. Abuse of expenses is not on, and should be a disciplinary issue. Office rent, equipment costs etc are prerequisites of being able to represent your constituents.
  13. Utter nonsense. Taking the pay that is awarded to you is not “having your snout in the trough”.
  14. I’ve got to be honest - this giving salary to charity is utter nonsense. Different debate about whether there should be a pay rise or not, but once it has been awarded, it should be completely up to the recipient what they do with it. If someone sent me a letter telling me I should give part of my salary to charity, I would tell them to bolt.
  15. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucia_de_Berk Interesting (and very similar) case from the Netherlands which was overturned some years later. Use of statistics on when the nurse was on shift and comments in her diary. Of course, if some people had their way, that nurse would have been kicked to death / starved to death / otherwise killed.
