  1. Thanks to our friendly SLO for another addition to matchday entertainment today. Early in the 2nd half, choosing not to throw the ball into Carson's outstretched arms but 10 yards away...... followed by Trev's 5 second square-go stare as Colin strided off..... superb.
  2. MoH felt a twinge in his thigh according to Robinson. Scan on Monday.
  3. “As a travelling fan, the best thing ever is celebrating a last-minute winner – especially when the goal is in front of the away end." Alex Greive...... gets it!
  4. Check out the difference in pace between Hanlon and Olusanya after the through ball. Can't remember us scoring a goal like that last season. TO, if he keeps to that form, will terrorise some of the lumbering defenders in this league. Big Joe, I'm sure, will be delighted if Mandron returns on Saturday.
  5. Robinson post-match talking about how Olusanya came back "a different man" after the summer break. A lot of credit has to go the manager though. Didn't kick a ball for us last season and couldn't even get into a part-time team when out on loan; good chunk of the support written him off. How many other managers would have looked at mutual termination? Plenty. Not Robinson though. Gives the guy a chance, blank page, explains how he can improve, works with him on the training pitch, praises in the press... simple stuff, nothing radical but what a turnaround. It's looking like Main all over again. As with Curtis too, no doubt Toyosi would now run through a brick wall for SR. It's quite simply outstanding management and leadership. Brilliant to have him in charge of our club.
  6. He's done not bad out of it himself: a 3 year deal which will take him past his 38th birthday.
  7. Trev might be a bit rusty going into his debut against us..... His last game was 3 months ago and, given Docherty's quote above, have to assume he wasn't part of the preseason GK training led by Jamie Langfield.
  8. Good news that Charles Dunne's recovery has progressed quicker than anticipated. Might be in the team today.
  9. No Fraser Taylor for Ballymena at Oran Kearney's Coleraine tonight. Maybe waiting for international clearance coming through. Their game against Linfield is live on iPlayer 2 weeks' tonight. Might see him then.
  10. Our 3rd choice goalkeeper, Shay Kelly, is the (much) younger brother of Liam and Sean.
  11. Goalkeepers Urminsky (24), Hemming (23), Kelly (16) Defenders Dunne (30), Fraser (29), R.Taylor (22), Tanser (28), Strain (26), Kenny (19), Sutherland (17), Bolton (28) Midfielders O'Hara (27), Gogic (29), Flynn (34), Baccus (25), Kiltie (26), Boyd-Munce (23), Gaffney (19) Forwards Ayunga (26), Greive (24), Olusanya (25), Jamieson (21), Nahmani (20), McMenamin (27), Mandron (28)
  12. We did well (or were perhaps lucky)to get a good, uninterrupted season out of Carson. His appearance tally for us in 22/23 was his highest for 9 seasons. I remember a big scare last August because it looked like a historic knee issue had returned and he was going to be out long-term. That could resurface at any time. The club have done really well to get 6 figures for him. As for Trevor, I'm sure he'll be delighted that his new fans have "Hello, Hello" in their repertoire. Good riddance.
  13. Strain's next football contract is going to be a few multiples of what SMFC are capable of offering him. And good for Ryan, he deserves it. Let's just enjoy him while he's here.
  14. Heading into the 3rd minute of stoppage time at Cowdenbeath on Tuesday night...... yeah would have taken that.
  15. A home draw would mean 3 home games in a row: 12th = Dundee 19th/20th = League Cup 26th = Aberdeen Would be a good opportunity to build some momentum early in the season.
  16. Very "Curtis". Shoves the defender out the way with two hands then heads home.
  17. Interesting to read the Motherwell manager complaining that the referee blew up on 90 minutes in their game despite a 3 minute injury stoppage and multiple substitutions. Noticed the same thing happened with us. Glorified preseason friendlies right enough.
  18. This blustery wind might not make for a great game of football..... Expect Forfar will sit in so ideal scenario is we score early and draw them out.
  19. Manager Stephen Robinson said: “He is not as bad as we first feared, we are looking probably about three weeks with Charles. So it is obviously a blow for us – but not as bad as we thought it was going to be. He has had a scan, he will be a similar time frame as Keanu (Baccus, who previously had a calf injury) so hopefully three weeks and he will be back available again. It is one of those things. Every club is going to be the same, picking up injuries. We have got boys who can step in and sometimes through someone’s bad luck you end up finding someone who appears from nowhere and they take it by the scruff of the neck and become a player that you didn’t see.”
  20. From a mate who supports Plymouth Argyle: James Bolton is a tremendous footballer. Injured too much for us but fantastic defensively, great with the ball at his feet, can step out etc. but also can be a brute when necessary put his head where it hurts. Always comes across as a lovely bloke too. Had he stayed fit for the past two seasons he'd be a regular in the Championship.
  21. Yeah, the only unseeded teams who made it through round 2 last season were Killie (won at Tynecastle) and Partick Thistle (beat Arbroath, the weakest seeded team).
