  1. For as long as I can remember white sliced bread has been like that, the slices alternate thick/thin.
  2. https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/apr/04/british-farmers-want-basic-income-to-cope-with-post-brexit-struggles Yet many farmers were apparently supporters of Brexit https://www.fwi.co.uk/news/farmer-support-brexit-strong-ever-fw-poll-reveals Leopards. Faces. ?
  3. I had chocolate covered bacon in Atlantic City a few years ago, the first and only time I've tried it. It looked as it tasted, crap.
  4. The way manufacturers say that reducing pack or bar size, whilst increasing prices, is giving the consumer good value for money.
  5. Saw a strange rainbow over the Kincardine Bridge tonight. It had the normal bow, plus a straight bit going off at a tangent.
  6. I'm assuming it blocks the 'view' from his bedroom to the bedroom of the house over the back.
  7. I see so many new houses now that are built behind retaining 'walls' and my first thought is always "when will that fail and who will pay". Like this one in Dunfermline, not the worst one I've seen, but just an example.
  8. I've driven it once before and just remember it being steep.
  9. I assume they'll just blindfold you in the back of the car as they drive.
  10. For some reason, the older I get, the more I hate driving over the Friarton Bridge
  11. I’ve driven over the Bay Bridge which is further down the Chesapeake Bay from the Key Bridge, and that has been described as one of the scariest bridges to cross in the US. There are drive-over companies that you can hire to drive your car over if you are unwilling to do so yourself.
  12. I would have thought there has to be, although maybe not the time she took. What if you drive in, can't find a space or change your mind, then drive straight out without parking?
  13. Cut the hedge back and there'll be plenty of room.
  14. Phone for a collection then. The drive there and back will count as the prep.
  15. I see the Govt wants to stop local councils from accessing the DVLA database to prevent them imposing fines from traffic regulation enforcement. https://www.gov.uk/government/news/crackdown-on-anti-driver-road-schemes-and-blanket-20mph-limits-to-put-local-consent-first It's a shame that they don't have the same inclination to stop others using motorists as 'cash cows'.
  16. I went out to the shop at about 9pm and it was f***ing Baltic. It felt far colder than the car thermometer was saying.
  17. I can only agree, just look at the publicity there was about cervical cancer after Jade Goody died from it.
  18. Someone has got cancer, and it's headline news for most of the main evening news bulletins. Spare a thought for the 10 or 15 people that will, statistically, be diagnosed with cancer during one of these bulletins https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/health-professional/cancer-statistics-for-the-uk#collapseZero Give the news from her a mention, then move on to other, more important stuff.
  19. I know who she is, I was just commenting on the picture that was posted. That picture was the first I'd seen about this whole thing and I didn't know or recognise who the woman was. As for the kids, I wouldn't be able to tell you who they were if my life depended on it. I have the same interest in her kids as I have for the kids of anyone else I've never known or spoken to.
  20. I would assume that how far is directly proportional to how much you give.
  21. I had to look up oubliette, and I'm now fascinated with medieval torture techniques, Warwick and Leap castle's oubliettes sound particularly horrible.
  22. I saw that picture yesterday and had absolutely no idea who the people were or what it was about.
  23. First hedgehog of the year in the garden last night. It's currently sleeping in the feeding station. I want to go and make sure there's still food left for it but I don't want to scare it off during daylight.
