  1. Running again pain free. Thankfully.

I visited a physio, she moved the knee into some uncomfortable positions and couldn't find anything wrong at all. She thinks it was a case of too much too quickly and the impact of the roads causing the pain. She recommended some insoles and they have been a game changer.

I still get a little pain the following day after a run but I've stopped running on back to back days and I've started going to the gym between run days.

PR in the 15k last week 1h 20mins which I was pleased with considering I've only been back to it for a few weeks. I just want to focus on being out and enjoying it for the time being though. Times/distances will come naturally.

Learnt a bit of a lesson last week.

I had a small bit of soreness on the inside of my right knee. Running might have contributed but I actually felt it sitting down at work for the first time last Tuesday, sitting like a child with my right leg tucked under my left. Didn't think much of it, that night I went a run, I could feel it but wasn't particularly sore until 6k, when I made a stupid decision to push on. Stopped at 7k. I haven't been able to run since and its starting to piss me off a little bit. Desperate to get out again.

I was on the cross-trainer, bike and Stairmaster at the gym yesterday afternoon but it all felt so mundane. Knee got through that no problem, I'm just worried about hitting the road again now in case I'm set back again.

Still unable to get out. Pain had just about subsided last Tuesday, I was excited to get out. Had to stop within 100 yards, probably set me back a week or so. Really frustrating.

Looks to be a strain of the medial meniscus. I'm hoping just a grade 1 strain, I've always been able to bear weight, never had any swelling and there was no instant pop noise. So I'm fairly confident it should heal fairly quickly.

  4. Good thread this.

Like a lot of people, I did a bit of running in 2021 but when things went back to being a bit more normal I started back playing football and the running eventually just stopped.

I got the notion before Christmas, did a very slow 12k and then got bad cold (covid). Went out again Jan 1st, joined a gym and starting running on the treadmill and the odd road run. I've been consistent since, 4/5 runs a week between 5k and 14k so far. I'm not following a plan as such, just trying to get out when I can (3 kids all doing their own evening activities).

I've definitely caught the running bug. I'm really really enjoying it this time. I'm in  no rush, but I'm excited to carry on to see where it takes me. My best run so far was a 10k in sub 52mins. Felt great until the last KM.

Stinking hangover on Sunday after a heavy day at the football Saturday (rarely drink these days) and managed to get out for a slow 11k. It was rough but I felt a million times better for doing it.

Wondering if anyone has been out to Dubai recently? I'm travelling over to Nepal with work for a week or two early next year (Feb/Mar) and was looking at options for a stopover on the way home. Weighing up two very different options:  3 nights in Dubai with my feet up or 3 nights in Jordan (the country) with a trip down to Petra. Will be on my own and my wife has zero interest in Petra so it feels like a good opportunity to bounce in on the way back.

The main questions are: Is Dubai eye wateringly expensive or can it be done in a budget friendly way? I've had a look at hotels and they are very much on par price wise, just not sure about "living" costs whilst there.

With Dubai it really depends what you're planning on doing. If its just a case of putting your feet up for three days, then of course it doesn't need to be expensive. There's plenty of activities that won't break the bank tough.

You're right that Dubai and Petra are very different options - if you want actual culture etc. then Petra is by far the better option; if you want to sunbathe by the pool or go shopping (and not much else), then Dubai it is.

If by this you mean there's little to do in Dubai,  then your miles off the mark. There's endless activities.

Without sounding too much like a snob (I will though and I'm fine with it) if you're looking for cheap Chinese tat then you'll be fine with Ali express.

If you want a high end looking watch but not spend the money then you won't be getting a high end watch but more so if you're wanting an expensive looking watch just to show off then I'd suggest your outlook is a little skewed. Buy a watch cos you like some aspect of it. Sounds like you're wanting to buy a cheap watch just for the sake of it?

What sort of budget are you looking at? Up to 500quid you could get a half decent Tissot or Seiko if it's something a bit dressier e.g the prx range from Tissot or cocktail time range from Seiko.

Vast range of G-Shock watches for something more industrial rather high end.

I don't think my post came across how I meant it to. Sorry for the offence.

I've got two Tissot watches, one bought earlier this month that I'll wear for work and another I use less frequently  because I hate the thought of damaging it.

The reason I was asking about Ali express was really because I fancy adding watch or two more without spending too much that I could throw on at times.

It wasn't a case getting a watch to try and impress anyone, I genuinely could not care. If its chines shite I'll wait a bit and buy something else

I'll save my questions for elsewhere in the future.

  7. I was coaching my son's 2011s football team Saturday morning. Got home to over 50 emails. Somebody had got into my PS account and helped themselves to 10 payments of £50 with my linked debit card. Some scummy people out there.

Of course, Sony don't work over the weekend, so cards cancelled, and it took until yesterday afternoon to get through but they're refunding this week.

Hardly any content over the weekend so didn't miss too much, caught up with the tokens last night. Hoping for GG again this weekend.

  8. I take it there'll be a load more swap objectives tonight again?

Quite enjoyed doing them last weekend. Nice break from weekend league and a bit easier to manage with kids running about as GG games are generally only a couple of minutes long.

  9. Assumed my luck ha well and truly dried up, not quite. Thought I’d a few 75+ player picks before rolling out of bed this morning - first pick I did and I was greeted by this fine gentleman. Trades for around 650k with terrible links so it must be a handy card.

Nah from the 80+ TOTW SBC. At this stage of Fifa, easily my best pull ever I think. Least he’s useable…🤷‍♂️😂

    Wow.

Haha - borderline useable I suppose.

    Enjoy.

  11. Cancelo is excellent. You need to start using him.

Red picks were Dembele and Casimiro. Front 6 and Militao are all untradeable.

I have a shit ton of coins now. I should probably start trading, but I wouldn't know where to start and would most likely lose coins.

Nakata and Thiago are both cracking cards, especially Nakata for the price.

My pack luck hasn't diminished at all.

I packed Thiago rulebreakers from a gold upgrade pack. Cristiano Ronaldo last night from the 75+ pack.

I also packed tradeable Essien last week from a rewards pack. Thats two icons packed this year, I think the only icon I've packed previously is Schmeichel in the past 3 or 4 years.

I got Nakata from the 87 max hero pack which is fairly decent. Hagi from the Icon back last week which isn't great.

Ronaldo is the best card I've used so far, perfect for this game. Figo is good but not worth the 600k odd coins, I might just see how Bernado Silva or Bruno Fernandes do in comparison.

Allison, Marquinos, Messi, Figo & Capdevilla all tradeable.

  13. I've had some unbelievable pack luck over the past two days. I've just got round to doing the Hybrid Leagues and Hybrid nations and they've come up trumps. Plus a few other SBC's.

Hybrid Nations SBC rare player's pack I got Neymar and UCL RTTK Anguissa both untradable.

Hybrid League SBC I got Dembele, UECL RTTK Ikone and UEL RTTK Simon all untradable

One for the win SBC (gold players pack with one rare card) I packed Baby Lahm tradable

Net splitter SBC I got Dembele tradable this time.

I managed to catch the Hero's pack and got Mostovoi which wasn't great but he's really good at CAM.

Raphina is tradeable, I got him Sunday night when prices were quite low at 328k. Currently sitting at 360k and if Barcelona manage to beat Inter tomorrow, I expect that to rise again. Mostovoi and Lahm both tradelable but the rest are all untradable.

Not sure what to do with Lahm. Currently selling for 470k. Played a few games with him last night and he's very good. I just don't think I need a 470k CDM at this point in the game.

Big Sorloth is an unbelievable card for his price but I could probably use the coins to upgrade and my full backs aren't great.

  14. Personally, I would take crisps over confectionary every day of the week.

With the top boys below. Cleary a strong flavoured ridge-based crisp is hard to beat.

What is your King of Crisps. Hopefully not too many in the habit of keeping crisps in the fridge.

I get them, but I think I've lucked out in as much as the ones I get are what they call silent migraines where you don't develop an actual headache. When I get them maybe once every year or two, my head starts feeling a bit fuzzy and my vision gets disturbed - at its worst it can feel that I'm viewing the world through a cracked pane of glass - but that's about it. I know a guy who gets the "suicide" cluster headaches and from what he's told me they sound brutal.

In terms of the worst -momentary - pain I've ever experienced, probably getting a bone set without anaesthetic...I'd gone to the hospital with a burst nose and the doctor had said to come back in like ten days to get it set under GA. For reasons best known to myself I'd asked if he could just do it there and then. Big set of tweezer things one up each nostril and the doc basically knelt on me applying a steadily increasing pressure on my beak till there was an almighty "CRUNCH" like a gunshot going off in my head and an instant of blinding intense pain.

That was it though - I'd take it again in a minute over the likes of tearing intercostal muscles which I've also done.

    Occular migraine.

I've not had one for a couple of years but used to get them every two or three months. They're a pain at the time as it's so hard to concentrate but I always felt really shitty after them. First time it happened was pretty scary as I had no idea what was going on.

In case no one got the meme, missus is currently carrying number 2. Can't believe we're doing this again man. Still, the second one is easier right. Right?

    Congratulations.

    In my experience. Yes.

I found with our second one we were so much more relaxed it reflected on number 2.

  17. We needed a second car as a run around. Older kids at an age where football, swimming & extra curricular school activities mean managing with just he one car was becoming a massive chore. Especially with a four month old baby.

I'm getting a car delivered from Cinch on Thursday morning. The whole process has been far better then dealing with a salesman at a dealership. I'd definitely recommend.

Cinch do a 14 day guaranteed return so if I don't like the car after a week or so I can just send it back and they'll return my deposit.
