I'd be keeping an eye on who is out of contract at Arbroath. I reckon a few will end up at East Fife.

Yeah I have a feeling that will happen as well. Big Dick's Last Dance getting the old band back together. Gold, McKenna, Gaston, Hamilton, Little, Jacobs and potentially even Aaron Steele (though, its not clear how long his contract is any he might well be able to get a L1 club). Only thing is I remember Arbroath fans saying things turned a bit sour towards the end of the Campbell's time with them - I know it was mainly with the fans but no idea if it was with the players as well.

  2. Now that the seasons done and dusted for us really, who we keeping for next year? I think (and probably hope) that we'll see a decent turn over in the squad. As far as I'm aware, Fash, Docherty and Healy are the only ones still on the books - not sure if anyone knows otherwise?

Otherwise, I'd probably keep Fleming for another season unless Dick has an improvement lined up - he's not perfect but not easy to find a decent keeper. Newton, Walls, McManus as well - Trouten has perhaps played his way into another year after a disappointing start to the season and I think Shepherd will depend on who the Campbells can bring in. Otherwise I wouldn't be overly inclined to keep the rest.

This came up on my Facebook.  I noticed the bit about our game in Stuttgart.  As Germany game is on in fanzone even though Scotland v Hungary are playing in that city, it could lead to thousands of Scotland and Hungarian fans searching around for a place to watch the game.  Same could go for fans based in other cities.

I hope they get it sorted.

Did you forget to attach a screenshot or something similar here? I have a ticket to this game but a bunch of my pals were aiming to go to a fanzone or similar - didn't really consider the fact these games will be on at the same time. Would be useful to find out more. Suppose if this tournament was in Scotland and it was the other way around, I wouldn't be confident as a Germany fan of finding anywhere in Glasgow to watch their match...

  4. One of my pals got in, got two tickets for the Swiss game, and somehow put in the three digits on the back of his payment card incorrectly. Flung out at that stage and tickets gone. Suffice to say, the pal he was buying for/with is not in the best of moods...

There is a report in today's Courier giving an update on the proposed fans takeover of EFFC.

    The salient points are:

1.Mr Rankine backs the move and an agreed share price has been agreed. It is hoped that the change in ownership can be in place by the commencement of next season

2.Talks have been held between the EFSS and both the Board and Management of EFFC with a desire from EFSS to retain the experience and skills of the current EFFC Board.

3.There are proposals to add to the stadium structure

4.There is a desire to continue youth development

5.Financial arrangements to support the bid are almost in place.

Fans are advised to look at www.eastfifesupporterssociety.co.uk or East Fie Supporters Society Facebook page.

Personally I would like  to see a Statement from EFFC Board giving their thoughts on the takeover,

All sounding very positive. Hopefully EFSS can get things over the line. I think you won't hear from the board until the buyout is done as I'm not sure they will want to be seen to be influencing anything at this stage. I'm someone already contributing to EFSS but if/when the takeover is done, I'd imagine you'll then hear directly from the club about everything - which in turn will hopefully get more people to sign up to contribute.

Just posted this on our thread - I cannot believe what I am hearing and have heard from Dick over the last 18 months.

That spitting comment - fucking hell. You’ll soon come to learn that Dick love’s absolutely nothing more than a total haver and extreme exaggerations but that is just an extremely bitter and delusional thing to say.

I really cannot believe the downward trajectory of the man over the last 18 month - Dick has spiralled out of control and had clearly well and truly lost his magic long before he left Gayfield.

I wouldn’t be too enamoured if I was an East Fife fan right now tbh. The guy that walked into Arbroath all they years ago has long gone.

He has managed to fall out with a whole load of players and alienate an entire fanbase who absolutely loved him in the space of 18 month. That is some effort

A bitter and stubborn old guy who can do no wrong in his own eyes - genuinely think he’s losing it or already lost it.

Maybe it is because he’d been at Arbroath so long and a new fresh start somewhere will get him his mojo back.

Thankfully for him he’s got a great guy next to him in his brother who is an absolute hero of a guy.

Watching that interview, my initial impression was that he is still an absolute blaw. I remember getting really tired of his shtick at Arbroath in the Championship after a while, too much of the Dick Campbell show. And with the sales of East Fife bunnets going through the roof, I worry that it might become a bit of a circus. This'll potentially be his last job, don't think folk realise the man is 70, so I'm hopeful he still has the magic. I still think it's the right appointment right now and I'm not sure who we could have brought in that would be better - I would be astonished if he can replicate anything near what he did with you lot. The aim has to be competing at the top end of the league next year, but that'll only happen if he still has the contacts and a batch of players who are desperate to play for him.

  7. Would be very happy with the DC appointment if it happens. I'd have thought him and his team would be out of our budget. Given the potential ownership change via the EFSS in the coming months having someone experienced in the dugout for the initial period of new ownership I think can only be a good thing. We're a very different set up to Arbroath so I do not expect him to perform the same miracles, but hopefully enough to get us at least competing to get out of this division again. We'll see!

  8. He's a club legend and it's sad it turned out like this, but it's ultimately the right call. Everyone could see where this was headed, I'm just glad Greig did too before things got really toxic. Ultimately, whilst I don't think our squad is good enough right now I also don't think he's getting the most from the players.

So the pledge page, can someone clear  this up  for me.

Why is money being taken when no deal has been struck?  Will this be held until the deal happens and what if it  doesn't ?

I contribute already, and admittedly I have only managed to attend one of the EFSS meetings, but I would surmise that items such as lawyers acting on behalf of EFSS are not free.

Just a casual query, didn't want to start a new thread...

      Reveal hidden contents

Got caught in the Glasgow LEZ in December. Going from Hampden after the ICT game, to the Crowne Plaza and a gig at the Hydro. I intended going along the Govan Road and over the Squinty Bridge but the Satnav had other ideas. It was dark and congested, didn't see any signage and I hadn't a clue where I was really until I got North of the river...

Going to a gig at the Barrowlands soon and my motor doesn't fit the LEZ restrictions. If I'm coming from Edinburgh and I come off at J15, can I go in by the High Street and along the Gallowgate, or can I go part way in and jink round by the Drygate Brewery? Or do I have to avoid this area altogether?

When you come off at J15, you'll get to the set of lights at the Cathedral and as you say you need to take a left and go down past the brewery rather than straight on to High Street. Can then park wherever you want in the Gallowgate. Source: resident in the Merchant City.

  11. Didn't watch last series but this is great telly. Paul is getting far too cocky, some nice fake emotions from him at the vote. Brian deservedly punted for his absolute meltdown. Hoping that they stopped at the reveal at the end there because theres some great fireworks in the next episode.

  12. I submitted my ballot application a couple of days before I managed to get one ticket for the Switzerland and Hungary games, not sure if I should be cancelling my ballot application or not? It's still showing there just now, no error messages or anything.

  13. Group of us is booked 15th-22nd June in Cologne, I got very lucky with a) being at a conference in Frankfurt the week before the Euros and b) booking free cancellation accommodation in Cologne months ago. Ended up with tickets for the 2nd and 3rd game, so still need to work out accommodation in Stuttgart for those two days, looks like options are really few and far between.

Fair enough a good motto. By the way also some good feedback about the highlights package provided by East Fife from the game.

It's not a motto, it's a group formed that I think originally was to help get the plastic pitch to be installed at Bayview. Now, I'm not sure - there's a lot of groups that have similar names in terms of supporters society, supporters club, supporters trust etc - I think FFTC may still exist as an entity trying to encourage Bayview to be some sort of community hub. Someone more well versed than me can explain it far better.

Not being funny but these results surely in the cup should be the opening up of the league trap door for automatic relegation for club 42

If the LL clubs weren't inviting B teams in and keeping their basement door as close to shut as possible in the same way L2 is, I'd be inclined to agree.

  16. 2 hours ago, Self-raising Lazarus said:

I'd keep that in reserve and look at accommodation again when the groups and games are announced.

Yeah that's the plan, reassess once we know the results of the ballot and where Scotland will be. I guess my one question would be, lets say Scotland's games are elsewhere like Munich or Berlin, are those places going to be a much better atmosphere in terms of fans that don't have tickets to the match, just because the game is at that specific stadium nearby? There's a chance I can get a ticket points wise but the group I'm going with definitely won't.
