  1. Before my time but Hughie Gallacher once scored four for us up at Gayfield and we lost. Dave Easson got all five for Arbroath.
  2. Yea. I just couldn't remember his name.
  3. As I recall I've only seen a maximum of ten goals in the one game, a 5-5 draw with East Fife at Boghead (in the 70s?) That's a goal every nine minutes on average. It was the worst game I've ever seen - awful defending on both sides. (I did see the 5-4 at Stirling but missed our first as I got in late. That was much more enjoyable - mainly for Paddy Flannery noising up one of their players and a magnificent Mark Crilly pass over the top to said Paddy Flannery.)
  4. That's only since very recently. Before that it was one. Before that it was none at all. Not even a play-off. And it's two from a division with 24 clubs in it. Not 2 from ten - which is what you seem to be suggesting (and which would be insane.)
  5. In what way does the rest of what you say in this post NOT disrespect the SoS?
  6. What on Earth makes you think Stranraer (or indeed any other Tier 4 club) coming down will be a strong team in the LL? How will they be as attractive to potential players as they were in the SPFL? In Stranraer's case this will be even worse because of their geographical location. I predict Albion Rovers will have great difficulty getting together a squad good enough to make a push in the LL in season 2023-24.
  7. Faucets? What have you been tapping into?
  8. But it's still those crowds that make them successful. Not the other way round.
  9. The Glasgow Giants are successful because they get the crowds. Fixed that for you.
  10. The WoS hasn't yet produced a club that was able to win the play-off even to join the Lowland League. How does that argue for it having equal rights with HL and LL?
  11. How is there more chance of coming back up? That would only be true if the standard of players the club manages to attract were more or less similar to as before. And as things stand that's not going to happen.
  12. That's a dubious kind of logic. It's not easy to return so we'll make it easier to be chucked out?
  13. Linlithgow I'll give you but what makes you think Albion Rovers willl have anything like the standard of player next season that they had this? The reality is they'll be scrabbling around trying to get LL standard players and competing against teams who already have most of those.
  14. How can Dumbarton be top? We were sh*te for the two seasons before this one.
  15. Sorry to see you guys go. It's a fate awaiting all part-time SPFL teams now.
  16. It is actually 0.01 % Rockson. Even better then. You van have an A+ for English and a D- for Arithmetic. A+++ for crap typing and crap proof reading actually. But...... "You van have?"
  17. They didn't say they'd vote against the idea ....
  18. Still leaves 0.001 % who do .....
  19. Please don't twist my words. I didn't say that about SPFL clubs at all. What I did say was that there are very good reasons why when these clubs are relegated they don't - won't - get back up any time soon. A fact which also doesn't indicate a functioning pyramid by the way. And they also aren't dealing with what clubs outwith the SPFL have to deal with. They're confronting a completely different set of circumstances - which I pointed out in my post.
  20. Sorry, I know people don't like posts about language but this mishearing type of thing irritates me. "To no end" does not mean "endlessly" - that would be just "no end". "To no end" actually means "without an end in sight"" ie "without purpose," which I'm sure isn't what you meant to say . Again apologies if I upset anyone with this but I think linguistic distinctions are worth preserving.
  21. There are good reasons for that. This is not like England where Football League clubs drop into a sponsored well-run league - which is still full-time. Instead it's into an abyss which has no sponsorship money and a fair few teams with recent records of relative success and momentum, and the parachute payment is no kind of brake to that (and arguably shouldn't be.) Also the teams who go down here are unlikely to be able to attract a sufficient calibre of player to play in what can be seen as a sinking ship and most likely will suffer a fall off in attendances - thereby compounding the problem - especially in a league riddled with B teams. You'll note Brechin in the Highland League didn't suffer that latter disadvantage. It would be astonishing if any of them came back up quickly.
