Strollers budget next season: the cube root of f*ck all
Cowden's budget next season: a more generous square root of f*ck all..
At least Edinburgh City can outbid both of you- we've got f*ck all
Your maths needs some improving. The cube root and square root of f*ck all are both exactly = f*ck all. (In general cube and square roots are smaller than the number they are roots of; but not in the case of f*ck all.)

There's a really simple and obvious solution for the "won't vote for 20% chance of relegation" excuse. The clubs play each other a boring 4 times each league season so 36 league games. Three Divisions of 10 teams is boring so change it to two Divs of 16 which allows for two additional (non B teams) clubs and 30 games per league season. If even more league games are wanted then go 2 Divs of 18 so 34 League matches. If existing SFL clubs are afraid of falling out of the league when there's two extra places (2x16 team Divs) or six extra places (2x18 team Divs) then maybe they should be relegated?
With bigger lower divisions (those 2 or six teams extra) the SPFL sponsor money has to be spread more widely - that is to say more thinly. How likely is it the clubs will vote for that? And the threat of relegation hasn't gone away - 12.5 % or 11.1 %. At present it's a maximum of 10% what with the possibility of winning the play-off and avoiding it.

Plus for us it wouldn’t be hard to beat the calibre of player we’ve had for most of the season.
But that's exactly the calibre you'd be looking at in the LL.

You have to wonder a demoted SPFL club will ever make the return journey, and whether the SPFL will ever realise that blocking automatic promotion from tier 5 actually makes it more difficult.
How would it be less difficult? Only Brechin so far have managed to win their league after demotion. The LL teams haven't come close - for very good reasons.
And for automatic promotion to it you're asking for two relegations from the SPFL. In other words one fifth of the lowest division. No SPFL club is going to vote for a 20% chance of relegation.

Albion Rovers nearly survived last season, they got 39 points, and they've just finished 9th.
No team going down to the LL is going to be able to attract the calibre of player they had in SPFL's bottom tier. It's amazing Albion Rovers are even ninth.

My initial thought was this was a guaranteed loss, but I’m actually now thinking there being no pressure might benefit us.
We've only ever won there ridiculously few times.

Going to Peterhead twice in a week is the stuff of nightmares.
At least it won't be Stranraer. That would be two guaranteed losses.

Well done, lads. Enjoy the day.

There is a Castle so the Cup was made in Edinburgh (the castle being the hallmark for Edinburgh. Should you ever see an anchor mark that is for Birmingham, oddly enough!)
Technically that mark only means it was assayed in Edinburgh, not necessarily made there. Silversmiths sent/send their wares to the nearest assay office to be hallmarked.

I think if we can better East Fife’s result this weekend, it’ll be job done or very, very close. The next 4 (including this Saturday) are very good opportunities to pick up lots of points.
You've just Faz'ed it.

East catchment? Show why please
I suspect bobbydazzler meant the EoS has the Rangers of both Berwick and Tweedmouth in its area.

I can't make this one so hoping for Uncle Faz and his big band of dog meat to at least hold us to a draw,if not put us to the sword, to drag it out for another week when the VIP will return.
I can never count on Uncle when it really matters though as we all know.
If there had been a league title potentially hanging on this game I'd have 100% thought we'd blow it. As it is we'll probably win and postpone Stenny's celebrations for a week. Then again recent games between us suggest a 1-0 away win.

The number 15 at the pen. Wtf !
Put him in goals and they would likely be a few points better off.
For me Gray always impresses, there's no substitute for pace, and always positive and direct.
From those highlights it looked to me not to be a penalty. The defender had his hand up but it doesn't look like the ball hit it.

Doubt it, they seem happy with the income boost and have plans to reinvest. I'd probably say Stranraer if I was guessing
I suspect Stranraer would have serious problems attracting players if they went down to the LL. It was bad enough for Cowdenbeath and Albion Rovers.

Please note: the word I have put in bold ought to be 'affects' not 'effects'.

I was just thinking that if we reach the play-offs and play Spartans, wouldn't it just be totally a Dumbarton thing to happen if they were to beat us. (And a Faz thing, obviously.)

It was a really odd game.
Spartans didn't lay a glove on us first half but managed to score twice. Unusually we made the most of our set pieces.
Out of 8 goals only one was worked (our sixth.) The rest were all free-kicks, resulted from corners or (their second, our fifth) a defensive lapse.
Well done to the lads though.

Meadowbank's 1995 win was their last ever game as a club.
No, it wasn''t. They're still going - albeit under a different name and at a different location.

The home team came out all guns blazing and with a bit more luck could have been 3 up after 20 minutes. Up to that point, Walls and Trouten were ruling the roost but Faz changed his tactics and that threat was nullified.
Really? I just thought the players stopped lumping it up to the small man and tried to pass it forward instead.

My English pals are always amazed how parochial the alcohol laws are up in Scotland.
There are good historical reasons for those "parochial" laws. I for one don't want to go back to those good old days.
You can drink in the bar at the Rock before the game if you want to, so where's the problem?

Notwithstanding the bit I've put in italics, might the WoS clubs have reached their level in Tier 5 if they get there? Their player pulling power probably won't last if they don't get up to it pretty quickly.
