I think I've just caught up on several days worth of posts and what I've read is mostly grim.

First of all, before I get called a "rape apologist" - a term that just needs to be booted into the sea really (there are no "rape apologists" on P&B or even in the boardroom of evil at Starks Park), I want to be clear that my view is that anyone found to guilty of a crime as serious as DG was judged to be has no place in professional football

However, he has been allowed to have that place for the 5 years following the civil case and that is a failing of EVERYONE involved in Scottish Football (although some more so than others, obviously). And include in that the clubs, governing bodies, sponsors, fans, media, politicians and so on. The relatively low amount of fuss (and it was relatively low when compared to the shit show we've seen over the past week) and subsequent indifference to DG playing for Clyde is acceptance by silence. Maybe if fans had protested at every ground, media outlets ran negative opinion pieces and ex-board members used their relative celebrity status to lobby Scottish Football authorities, then we don't get here.

Maybe if our politicians took more of an interest when it wasn't their friends expressing disgust, maybe if the governing bodies had any kind of clue, then we don't get here.

Our BoD, our management team, are not supportive of rapists. They are a bunch of old guys badly out of touch with modern society and too arrogant to listen to advice, although they in all likelihood, risk assessed the backlash against what levels Clyde had seen. These were monumentally bad and ill-judged decisions.

But hounding them all out of Raith Rovers tomorrow is not the answer. In general, our support did a great job in letting those who run the club have fucked up but this witch hunt and talks of community funded buy outs is just mental.

    1. You can't just remove the entire management structure of a business overnight and expect it to survive. Up until this time last week RRFC was in the best position it had been for years... Instead of burning at the stake, maybe supporters engagement with the board will help educate and drive better decision making in future?

    2. Anyone expecting John Sim to simply sell up (and on the cheap) is living in cloud cuckoo land. Running any campaign to starve the club of cash will end the club completely. Football clubs like RRFC are more than their owners or managers of the day... I want this team to still be here in the future when all of this is just a black day in our history... I will not support any action that damages us further.

And just to reiterate, we are all in someway culpable for the situation. Even the seemingly self appointed moral compass of our support @McGuigan1978... For it seems even he, in submissions to his Terrace blog and BBC Sport website, has indicated acceptance of DGs prescence in the lower leagues by way of a nod to his performances on the football pitch... Not something that someone outraged about a rapist playing football would do?

In defence of Mr McGuigan there is no acceptance in that report, you're reading something that's just not there. He more than likely (like most fans of other clubs) didn't like the idea but was just glad he wasn't at their club. Note that most of the voices speaking out (both times) have come from people associated with the clubs, albeit fans, board members, and/or sponsors.

I think yogi would do a good job for Dunfermline. You’ve got a squad that should be challenging at the top of the league and he is a fantastic coach so he would get results.
The only issue is, as above, I wouldn’t let him anywhere near the recruitment side of things.

A fantastic coach? Are you mental? A HUGE part of the role is people management. Hughes demonstrated on tv that his people skills could easily be eclipsed by those of a phone box, and that's before we consider the post match dressing room confrontation which saw an ex goalkeeper almost skelp his big desperate dan jaw.

Didn’t he relegate Rovers by loaning Vaughan to Dumbarton so poster has a point re recruitment, or should that be de-recruitment, not being his forte.

I remember the Yogi for Scotland campaign, initiated by and supported…by Yogi. It’d be a laugh but I’m clean out of humour.

  3. I would have been delighted with a 1 goal lead before last night's game, but the way it happened is fucking infuriating. 2-0 up, absolutely cigaring it, and if anything looking more like getting a third against a laughably ineffective Killie side, McPake makes a nonsensical sub in taking off McMullan which is a huge factor in Killie pulling a vital goal back. This is why, even if we somehow get up to the Premiership, he needs replaced, or at a minimum have a much more experienced Assistant in the dugout with him. Decision-making like that against these teams will see us absolutely scudded on a regular basis.

You want to reward success with a sacking? Fickle, or what?

McMullan was knackered having left everything he had on the pitch.
