  1. A POSITIVE display from Rangers B team saw them beat Vale of Leithen 9-0 in the Lowland League this afternoon.

A Ross McCausland hat-trick and a strike from Arron Lyall had Rangers four goals ahead at the break before Lyall, Tony Weston, a Juan Alegria double and Lewis McKinnon added to that in the second-half.

David McCallum named three changes to his side from last weekend’s 3-0 victory over Edinburgh University with Kyle McClelland, Mackenzie Strachan and Tony Weston all coming into the starting XI.

New signing Juan Alegria was named on the bench this afternoon after joining the club in midweek from FC Honka.

Inside the first 10 minutes, the young Gers had a great opportunity to open the scoring. Charlie McCann fed the ball out to the right to find Ross McCausland and the Northern Ireland international cut inside before drilling a left-footed effort at goal but it was well saved by Ross Gilpin.

It was McCausland that got the breakthrough with just 14 minutes on the clock. A cross from Robbie Fraser met McCausland in the box and he fired home his first goal of the Lowland League season.

Just three minutes later Rangers doubled their advantage as Tony Weston’s cross was touched down by Arron Lyall into the path of McCausland who beat the goalkeeper from close range for his second of the afternoon.

McCausland was causing problems for Vale of Leithen and was denied a hat-trick in the 22nd minute as Gilpin stood strong to block the 18-year-old’s shot.

The visitors had their first chance of the match from a corner as the ball fell for Andy Martin on the edge of the box but his shot was wide, before Charlie McCann saw a shot flash inches wide at the other end.

With 10 minutes until the break, Rangers made it 3-0 with a well-worked goal. Charlie McCann played in Arron Lyall on the edge of the box and he took a touch to create space for himself before driving the ball into the bottom corner of the net.

McCausland got his hat-trick in the final stages of the first-half as Robbie Fraser picked him out in the box with a good delivery which he headed in off the post.

Into the second-half, Tony Weston scored in the 56th minute as he hit a powerful right-footed shot beyond Ross Gilpin after being picked out in the box by Jack Harkness.

Mackenzie Strachan and Arron Lyall both saw shots saved by Ross Gilpin shortly after.

Lyall did get his second of the afternoon in the 63rd minute with a fantastic finish from the edge of the box as he curled a shot into the back of the net.

On his Rangers debut, Juan Alegria saw an effort go just wide of the post before Murray Miller had a goal disallowed for offside.

In the 82nd minute, that debut goal did come for Alegria. A ball forward by Greig Allen was touched on by Ross McCausland to the Colombian who made no mistake in drilling home a powerful shot.

Just a minute later Lewis McKinnon got in on the scoring as he diverted an Arron Lyall corner goal bound.

Alegria made it a double on his debut in the final stages of the game as he drove towards goal before slotting a low shot beyond Gilpin.

RANGERS: Cervantes, Harkness, Fraser, McClelland (Allen, 53), MacKinnon, Strachan, Lyall, Miller, Weston (Alegria, 60), McCann (Dunlop, 53), McCausland.

    Subs: Budinauckas, Ewen, McKinnon, Lowry

Vale of Leithen: Gilpin, McParland, Martin, Crolla, Munro, Afedzie-Hayford, Sykes, Aitken, Melvin, Stewart, Kerr.

    Subs: Meechan, Rossi

You might need to enlighten and give a clue as to what you're getting at here ?

I'd love to, but it seems Ando and / or his brother are watching this thread and complain to the site admins if I put the detail on.  I did try, but it was deleted 😞

Publicly nothing has been said on what would happen with the money specifically. The initial reaction to the money from those commenting on it was that "£50k split 16 ways isn't very much" etc.

Which led to the George Fraser and maybe some others saying that it wasn't going to be split 16 ways. It was going to be invested in the infrastructure of the LL. With mention of how the league doesn't have someone that deals in marketing as an example.

Now I don't imagine a one off fee of £50k would go very far in the marketing world, and the LL is still without a title sponsor. So no one has a clue on where the money has gone. It may well still be sitting in a bank account waiting to be spent.

Parachute payment for The Vale?  😉

  4. Another heavy defeat for Vale last night - 7-1 loss to East Kilbride.

Their Twitter account was fairly active until the manager and his brother departed, so it suggests one of them was responsible for the feed...perhaps they're refusing to share the account details and password?

  5. This thread might be worth creating now that the VoL manager has resigned.

MANAGER DEPARTURE After six years at the club, manager Chris Anderson has stepped down. We would like to thank him for his efforts and wish him well for the future.

    All chat, insight etc.

I understand he couldn't get players in.  The ones he did get it weren't considered good enough.  Then players left, wanted to leave or refused to play.

Crazy money being spent which concerned some of the committee.  And he kept playing himself which didn't go down well.

Did he fall, or was he pushed?

Stressful times indeed.  These guys work hard to keep things going and have kept churning away during COVID - new lights, ground improvements, sponsorship etc.  Looks like the effort has taken its toll.

Hopefully they'll get the support the club needs.

  7. Noticed this on another site - regarding the Lowland League results on the BBC showing Abandoned:

The tables, fixtures and results information on the BBC Sport website and BBC Red Button are provided by an external supplier.
We’re aware of a continuing issue with the results for the Lowland League......... and we are investigating with our supplier and hope to resolve the issue quickly.

What's hypocritical about going on FF and laughing at the specimens on there? Do you actually know what the word means?

    Hypocrite
If you accuse someone of being a hypocrite, you mean that they pretend to have qualities, beliefs, or feelings that they do not really have.

I'm happy with the use of the word in this instance - but I'm happy to be educated by your goodself if you feel it necessary?

I read a Rangers fan saying on follow follow there that B teams in the Premier League would undermine any concept of a fair competition.

They want B teams, but they don't want to play them either.

    Hypocrite b*****ds.

    Hates the Old Firm

Reads the Old Firm fans forums

I watched an Old Firm game there, it was very strange. There was a group of about 20-30 Celtic bams behind the goal singing songs and waving flags, with no apparent interest in the game. Along the main stand it was pretty tense as groups of fans - mostly family and friends of the players - were mixed among each other and seemed to be intimidated into staying relatively quiet.

    What's your point GordonS?

I've been to Linlithgow and seen the same scenario.  I've seen the same scenario in a number of grounds all over the country.  It isn't an Old Firm thing.

How the hell do old firm colt teams improve the Scotland national team ? They have players from other countries ? I might understand if the colt teams had only Scottish players trying  progress to the national team ? 🤷‍♂️🙄

The national team 'have players from other countries' too.......

I don't drink during week days unless I'm off work

So you have the proven that you have the self control to limit your drinking.  That alone is a positive and something to be proud of.

Life is difficult at the best of times and you're not the only one struggling.  You've put your feeling down for others to read - many other sufferers keep it inside.....but their struggles are there, just not visible.

Set yourself a goal for today, tomorrow, the rest of the week.  Walk 1 mile.  Set off late at night if you're uncomfortable with people about.  Pick up the pace as the days progress.  Increase the length of the walk to something that you can make, but feel exhausted after completing it.  Keep a record of the steps etc. and look at it regular to see the progress.  Small steps as they day.  The benefits will soon show.  Weight loss, fitter, improved sleep patterns.  From being ashamed of yourself - you'll start to be proud.

If you're a TV watcher - run through some simple exercises every time the adverts come on....keep a note of the numbers and watch them increase each day.

The body is a phenomenal thing and will adapt very quickly to the demands.  Push yourself and watch the changes......

Was at a loose end so headed to Newbyers for Arniston Rangers v Vale of Leithen friendly last night. My main take away from the game was how the hell are Vale a LL outfit?

The top EoS and WoS teams would easily tear them apart. I know it's a friendly and early doors but they really are poor for this level. Surely relegation and promotion should be increased to allow teams to find their level more quickly.

Booted off the park it seems?

When rangers were relegated to league Two, did they decide to start again and rely on the youth system to get them promoted. No the didn't they threw money at it. They always will do and sod the youth set up. They spend millions on Murray Park and have f**k all to show for it youth wise. Nothing will change with a colt team.

    I think they'll say different:

    Charlie Adam
    Fraser Aird
    Chris Burke
    John Fleck
    Billy Gilmour
    Alan Hutton
    Andrew Little
    Steven MacLean
    Lewis Macleod
    Ross McCormack
    Ross McCrorie
    Robbie McCrorie
    Dylan McGeouch
    Allan McGregor
    Barrie McKay
    Glenn Middleton
    Nathan Patterson
    Andrew Shinnie
    Steven Smith
    Danny Wilson

....and that's just a quick list.
