St Mirren v Alex Rae’s Sevco Zombies
glenburn bud replied to Captain_Sensible's topic in Scottish Premiership General Chatter
I thought we allowed Rangers time to settle and dictate the tempo of the game, when really I was expecting us to go right at them and try to unsettle a team with zero confidence. The penalty and resulting red card ended the game as a contest. -

I’ve got the fear that the blue bigots will turn up today and we won’t. Im not used to folk making us out as favourites to win, it doesn’t feel right. As has been said before historically both old firm teams seldom lose 2 league games in a row. The odds are stacked against us as we also have a honking record against this mob. -

I’m not one for singling out players for criticism especially goalkeepers which as we all know is a specialist position. Given that Zak has been rewarded with a new contract by his parent club Middlesborough. I’m confident that he’s at a level where he will only get better. All the keepers we’ve had in recent years have definitely benefited from Jamie Langfield’s coaching. I have faith in Langfields ability to do a similar job with Zak. Fingers crossed. -

Mercifully we aren’t a fan run club. Just the thought of such scenario is quite a scary. -

In all the years I’ve been watching St Mirren I can hardly remember a time when either half of the cheeks lost 2 league games in a row. I think we go into Sundays game with guarded optimism and nothing less. Old firm teams are more dangerous when they’ve come off the back of a couple of defeats. -

What’s the script with brother Walsh does he genuinely coach a Rangers youth team ? Or is it a myth ? -

I remember Rae after a game at Somerset park Ayr declined his post match media duties, due to having some prior arrangement at a Rangers supporters event, or some other shite like that. He’s an insufferable wee corner boy with the same managerial ability of Alan Stubbs. -

I remember being told a story about Rae prompting Fitzy to ask Gordon Scott for a contract extension at a board meeting, To which Gordon Scott promptly told Fitzy to tell him he’ll get a contract when we’re not bottom of the championship The raging wee *** then told Fitzy that under no circumstance was Scott allowed to come into the Ralston training complex. About a week later Rae was fired. -

That’s a quite ridiculous comparison given that both players are from a completely different era. We had this clamour at the start of last season when Carson got off to a pretty shaky start. Folk were questioning him as first choice and that he was not of the same standard as Alnwick or Hladky. Im confident Zak will prove you and many others wrong over the season. -

Zak made a mistake for the goal. Last week his save from Devlin earned us 3 points. Why do people obsess with goalkeeping mistakes. All keepers make mistakes from time to time, move on and focus on how good he’s been since coming in. -

A Scottish record transfer back in the day when we outbid Celtic for Frank. What a player he was RIP Zico -

I’ve always enjoyed a day out at Rugby Park through the years, but our record there is really poor. Im not feeling very confident given last seasons meetings, where we never managed to score let alone get a win while playing Killie. Id take a point as others have said but I won’t be too bothered to see us shitfest a 1-0 win. Needs must. -
Hibernian v St.Mirren - League Cup QF
glenburn bud replied to Lyle Lanley's topic in Domestic Cup Football
I see a comment from the new Hibs manager basically playing the mind games hand, by suggesting on current league form we are a bigger club than Hibs. I think he’s picked the wrong manager to go down that route with Robinson. Whatever limitations we may or may not have, our recent success is built on a massive bond of team players with no egos and a huge hard work ethic. Add in some very very good recruitment and a system that’s suits the players then we are a match for anyone in this league. it’s a one off quarter final and anything can happen. COYS -
Seriously if VAR looked at the Mandron goal and saw it as a foul on the Hearts guy, then the game is fucked.
-
How in the name of f**k is the Mandron one inconclusive? The Hearts defender just falls over after losing control of the ball. If that is the standard of officiating then we might as well chuck it.

I thought at the game yesterday both the Mandron goal and the Greive goal should have been given from my seat in the west stand. I then said let’s wait and see the highlights, Jesus suffering f**k we were completely done over by VAR for both goals. Honest mistakes are one thing but the decision not to award the Mandron goal renders Nick Walsh not fit for purpose. He fucked up in monumental style. -

There’s nothing inaccurate in what I explained. The Hearts lad had lost possession of the ball and had both of his hands grabbing Tanser by the front of his jersey. He continues to pull Tanser until he fell on him, resulting in the injury. It was entirely self inflicted, and I will reiterate the ref called it 100% wrong.
