Walking Down The Halbeath Road
HoBNob replied to Parscelona's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
That's our problem for bringing in a striker who just isn't good enough then, we can't just keep throwing money and bringing players in. -

Proof that football fans can never actually be pleased, christ. -

Aye, he showed pashion and wound up Pars fans, free ride. Why he was in the team, and why Raith fans liked him are two different things. -

Chris Smith started the majority of games when we won the league and he was pish anaw. -

Aye, I'm back to being as annoyed at McPake as I was after the QP game tbh, that was all on him. I thought when there was a break in the play in the second half that McPake, having watched the turgid pish we had served up would change the formation and move the players around, instead nothing, no change. He does have attacking players now, he has attacking subs he can bring on to change it up, and he still makes us utterly awful to watch. I'm not having player availability, or Inverness being a tough place to go or any other nonsense excuse given for tonight, that was all on McPake. -

I couldn't agree more. It was just worse in every way, the Rb looked more uncomfortable, MoH who looked better against Arbroath with a full back supporting him and providing outside runs, was left isolated and expected to beat 2/3 players a time. MFW has looked better as a two so we move him to LCB, where he doesn't have the ball progression to play there which means Edwards then has no support and is isolated. It was just fucking stupid from McPake, us being so dreadfully shit to watch is fully on him. -

Aye. No idea what McPake was thinking. -

It was a brutal miss/attempt at a finish. He'd done well to get himself into that position following a great through ball but that's an absolute sitter. -

I don't think the referee has made any wrong decisions so far, certainly nothing egregious. -

Concerned with how narrow we're looking, not sure having Otoo as a LCM with no one outside him will get the best out of him. -

They wouldn't be able to register him so that'd be pointless. -

How often have Morton finished in the playoffs/top 16 in Scotland? I remember them getting to the playoffs in there second season up after being promoted but unsure how many times since. I remember them putting up a bit of a title fight with Partick but I don't think the promotion playoffs were in place then? It doesn't seem a bad target at all tbh. It's the least Dunfermline should be targeting but we've barely managed it in recent years. -

I have a feeling he'll rock up at Morton next season. -

I'd say he's fallen off a cliff the last 3 games tbh, he might look alright when things are going your way but he's looked like a stereotypical old firm loanee where things aren't going his way so he's chucked it. Telling that he wasn't brought on against Partick. -

Nah, he started off fantastic but he's trailed off something rotten, the difference between him and Todd is humongous. -

If Littles contract is up he'd be away you'd imagine. With regards to Mehmet, unless we get someone to take on his contract I'd rather just persist with him, than have such an expensive wage on the bench, we won the league with Chris Smith so we may aswell give it another shot. Out of the Cardiff loanees I'd be interested in MFW, depending on budget etc. Benjamin can go with our best wishes along with Summers. With regards to Kane I'd absolutely be taking him if he's available, likewise Rudden and Dowds will be out of contract in the summer, we'd be daft not to enquire about them IMO. -
Relegation thread - who's going down?
HoBNob replied to AUcal's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
It's not beyond the realms of possibility that we go above Ayr tomorrow night. I fully accept we're in amongst it, but likewise I can't understand not thinking that Ayr, Airdrie and QP are also kicking about in the brown stuff. -

Not too late? Dunfermline are above Airdrie and Queens Park! They're absolutely in the mix. -

With regards to squad make up, what are people thinking for next year? I like the set up we have of the 4411/4231/433, whatever what you split it. If everyone was fit and available I'd like to have seen below, added what I think the depth chart is. GK - Mehmet, Little RB - Comrie, Miles CB - Bene, Fisher, Breen, Fagan-Walcott, Benjamin Cm - Otoo, Hamilton, Allan, Chalmers LB - Edwards RW-KRH, MoH AM - Todd, Summers LW - McCann, Jak, Moffat St - Kane, Wighton, Holmes I genuinely think, if managed well, there's an eleven that could challenge for the title, however there's a few things that need improved over the summer if we're getting to that level. 1- Centre mid, I think Otoo, Hamilton and Todd could be fantastic, however have we even see it this season? Due to being light at centre back they've been pulled back allot, and as soon as one of them missing and you're putting in Allan and Chalmers the drop off is just massive, neither are good enough for what we need. I beleive Chalmers has another year so he'll be staying, and I'm willing to see if Otoo and Todd's running can compliment him? But Allan should be gone. 2- I've only listed three strikers there but realistically I could've put McCann, Jak and the Sutherland players there aswell. Despite all those numbers it's only Kane who's capable of playing as the lone striker at this level and he's on loan. I think Wightons knee injuries have finished him tbh, but come summer time we're going to need to address this. 3-Full back, with Comrie likely to miss allot of time with a knee injury, and Edwards likely to be away I think we might need to look at this in the summer. While we could play Otoo on the left, we'd be losing so much from the middle. It'll be interesting to see how Miles gets on, if he does well do we talk to Livingston about him staying? We're not a million miles away, if we get the summer correct, and get some players back we could be on for a good season next year. -

Budget obviously comes into it, if he's not costing allot then I get keeping him as a squad option. My drama is that from open play he just doesn't contribute anywhere near enough to warrant a starting berth at this level IMO. -

Lots of sexual tension between them IMO. Onto today's games what is everyone hoping for? Still got on eye in the promotion playoffs?
