He is a decent guy. He's spent his parliamentary life holding his own party to account, as well as the Tories. And he's spent his working life fighting injustices. This is what scares the Tories, their backers in the media, and also those in his own party who just know how to put on their slick , smiley faces.

I think that is exactly what they will do. It'll just be out of the headlines, bit by bit, quietly.... but definitely.

General Election 2019 - AND IT’S LIVE!

A moronic construct, and a diversion from what is being said. -
What a waste. I live in the constiiuency where , on a visit to a school, the local MP told a schoolkid... "Why don't you f**k off back to Scotland.." ( James Heappey, Conservative ). is that actually what you want from an MP ? From where I'm sitting, comparing Westminster to Holyrood..., generally, parliamentary businesss in Scotland seems to be conducted by adults. Westminster ? If I lived in Scotland, I'd vote SNP. If Corbyn lived in Scotland I could see him having serious , principled, political discussion. Can you actually , remotely, imagine the same of Johnson ? But, just vote.

Falkirk v Stranraer, 30th November 2019

Tbf..., I hardly expected to see Airdrie at the top of this division, nor you guys lost in the dust of East Fife..., so it's pretty clear that you're just not very good. The way it's been with Stranraer this season, it's quite likely in a few weeks time that Forfar, having a bad day, could put 3 past us.. but I reckon you're there for the taking. The cheap shot is yours. I hardly have sympathy for some bloke with a machete. However, given the history of police with guns, how they use them, and how always, always they get away it, an ascerbic comment is valid. And the only person making a stupid piece of amusement, is you. -

Must admit, I didn't know that 3 of the above were Jewish. Woody Allen, of course. -

At a guess, I'd say the vast majority of those new voters have not been accessed by the pollsters. -

Before you go around referring to others as morons..... Zionism is about the existence, or right to existence, of Israel as a state. Corbyn is not remotely opposed to the existence of the state of Israel. What he is opposed to is the behaviour of the state of Israel, in particular, its activities towards the Palestininas. -

Indeed, that's the real motivations. Bit surprised , though, to see Welby .. Archbishop, wading into this today. Wrong headed, and deeply inappropriate. -

My understanding is that when asked to condemn PIRA violence, he stated that he condemned all violence in Northern Ireland. I believe he said this only a couple of years after the government at Westminster allowed 13 , I think it was, prisoners to starve to death in Northern Ireland. With the behaviour of Crown forces in , for example, the murder of innocents by the Paratroopers, and the actions of Loyalist paramilitary groups..... no right thinking person would do anything other than condemn all violence there.

Plain fact is , the rollout of decent broadband in the UK has been rather dismal. Also, the more advanced thinking on internet connection/broadband is that, along with water, electricity.... it is one of the basic necessities of a society. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I seem to recall that the last time central government put anything significant into the equation was when they slashed £300 Million from the BBC licence fee income, and offered it on a piece meal basis to councils to make their own contracts with bidders to install 'superfast' broadband infrastructur locally. £300 Million spread around the country is a minimal sum. The 'free market' hasn't worked particularly well in this matter, so it is hardly a surprise that Labour is proposing the measures it has. -

TBH..., the combination of your last 2 posts does seem to say, to this onlooker at least, that actually Switzerland is a rather backward country. 1991... before women could vote, and your trying to say what a wonderful democracy it is. ffs. Pull the other one. -

In Switzerland, women only got the vote in about 1970.... IIRC. Their version of democracy doesn't seem very forward looking. -

TBH, once the Tories lose the election, I think her career as a so called serious political correspondent.... is effectively over. She'll be on 'other projects'.

The IOPC is the new name for the IPCC ( Independent Police Complaints Commission ). As of a few years ago, I recall that the IPCC was mostly made up of ex-police officers, and specifically, I recall the public spokesperson for the IPCC saying..... how proud they were to be part of the police family. -

You really are a piece of garbage, aren't you. -
Well, no, of course it isn't. When I posted, I hadn't quite realised the full spectrum of allegations against Mr Thompson.

Not the brightest comment I've made, and I agree with you. My experience was, standing, facing the bloke, him telling me about the work, standing a bit too close, and putting his hands on my waist. Nothing genital. Just the absolute feeling that this wasn't at all right. I left as quickly as I could disengage from the conversation. ( And didn't take the job. )

I'm male. No, I don't think it does make a difference. Really, we're all general public.
