  1. Trying to imagine if we described workers as traitors for jumping to a competitor/rival in other lines of work. "Tesco let you go but that's no excuse to jump to Asda you traitor!" "Scotrail helped train you as a driver & gave you your first break, how dare you take a higher paying gig for LNER?" Obviously a silly comparison but still mildly funny to think about.
  2. Took less than 5 minutes into the game for Kenny McIntyre to excitedly promise an upcoming segment on VAR. I think Tom English spoke for everyone, "can we not?"
  3. Will that be Dylan Smith's first start under Adams? Hope he makes the most of the opportunity after Nightingale's farcical sending off.
  4. By the standards of our Derek that seems an extremely normal viewpoint.
  5. Brophy as a signing was still probably worth it just for the goals last season, without those I doubt we're still in the top flight. But aye, it's a scunner that he can't stay healthy.
  6. We've got our new toy, you've got to get carried away with the utter nonsense for a while. And yes, absolutely no clue what that red card was about. Bewildering.
  7. Yes, being a County fan has been rarely dull and since the club entered the league it has been way more ups than downs. Even someone like Livi, they have been in and out of financial dire straits more times than most teams with a century's more history. I dunno who the dullest current Premiership club is but my gut leans St Johnstone and Killie. And even then there's been plenty of ups and downs. Hard to beat the Elgin shouts though. Exceptional in how unremarkable They are
  8. God, that didn't take long. (If it's true. Which I hope it isn't)
  9. The way Glasgow based journalists react about travelling to Dingwall it's little wonder they think Cologne to Munich is akin to a trip to the moon
  10. It is funny that if you look at the companies who provide artificial surfaces their websites stress heavily they aren't actually all-weather surfaces. I have no idea if Livi salted the pitch with special pure salt before the freeze came in, whether insulating covers work with 4G surfaces or whatever else. Maybe there's a good reason they didn't do these things, maybe they were just tight. I just thought it was funny that Sherrif John Bunnell's prediction came true within minutes of the game being called off, & by someone whose side has no interested in this battle between relegation fodder at that.
  11. Aye, can't say I love it. The constant turnover in the last Adams era was often infuriating, it could take months for the squad to gel and even then there were far too many mad panics in the January window. Meanwhile in the part of Adams reign we remember more fondly the playing staff was relatively stable. And it largely paid off. Look at how long people like Kettlewell, Gardyne, Boyd, Brittain etc were around.
  12. I kind of figured the referee would arrive, take a 4 second glance at the pitch and then call it off, based on the local weather reports. Either that's a surprisingly positive sign or the referee slept in.
  13. Good result that, even if it sounds like I didn't exactly miss a classic
  14. Aye, inclined to agree with that. We probably should have scored in the first half, the lack of quality chances in the second half was not great but I'm old enough to have seen much worse. There's enough positives to take from the first half that I choose to focus on that. Honestly just nice to go to Victoria Park again so unless we got turned over I was never going to be massively unhappy.
  15. Yes, it does. Either he's comparing racist & homophobic abuse to being rude to an elected official, a party leader at that, which is in fact very stupid, or he's only even mentioning it because he's got some bee in his bonnet with me for whatever reason. Which is his right but doesn't mean I have to treat his "concerns" with any seriousness. I'd rather talk about the football though, believe it or not, so for the sake of avoiding these tedious derails I'll keep schtum about Douglas Ross from now on.
  16. Aye, I figured that was what you were getting at but didn't want to jump on you without clarification. But seeing as you've given it. Holy shit that is either dumb as hell or else an utterly disingenuous attempt at a gotcha. Unsure which is sadder. No, racist/homophobic chat is not in fact the same thing as being mean to someone who's professional life is dedicated, intentionally or as a by-product, to making things worse for the poor, for minority groups, for the most vulnerable segments of society. And lest we forget that Douglas has his own rich history of being an open bigot: https://tfn.scot/news/tory-msp-slammed-for-bigoted-gypsy-traveller-comments Plenty of reasons to hate him. This is neither ironic or hypocritical but entirely consistent with my world view.
  17. Ah, how exciting, first game back and I get to give some abuse to that Tory arsehole into the bargain
  18. Oh Sandy. Even by your own standards that is just brutal. Back to the drawing board old yin
  19. When has giant hypocrisy ever stopped a football fan from talking nonsense? Besides, I saw on Facebook from County fans that Malky was harshly done by because he got no financial support from the club, it must be true!
  20. Someone who hasn't punched one of the members of the playing staff in the dressing room? Because punching Higgins really does standout in my memory as much as the Scottish Cup Final or the Championship winning season. I dunno. I honestly have no idea, Rhys McCabe at Airdrie seems to be doing well but I don't follow the Championship closely enough to really go to stump for him. I'm not totally down on it, I said in the other thread that Adams was manager for some of my best memories of watching County. But by the same token it didn't end well the 2nd time round & I don't just mean on the field. It's not so much that I'm disappointed or can spit off 5 guys I'd have picked before Adams, I genuinely just don't really know how I feel about it, because it was very much out of left-field. Suppose Malky was out of left-field too. There's things for & against it, hopefully George was a big source of the disharmony last time round, hopefully going back does work out, but I don't really think there's any harm in noting the reasons to be cautious. Still looking forward to getting my arse up to Dingwall on Saturday
