Mistakes as in routinely conceding goals from a failure to do the defensive basics. Defensively, there are just too many holes. Geggan is struggling because we are relying on him to be the entire midfield. MCCabe is a complete passenger and Paton, Cardle, Higginbotham and Mcmullen don't really have a defensive side to their game. On top of that, we have Williamson who is exciting going forward but largely lost at the back. You can see he is working hard on his defensive positioning but that tends to result in him forgetting to ever challenge for the ball. Then Riley, he has come with a good reputation but has shown absolutely nothing. Could be that the service is wrong, could be that he has no confidence, could be both. Regardless, he has yet to deliver.

That puts a lot of pressure on forwards to perform and so far, they haven't done. Aiming for the play offs isn't unrealistic, it's a target rather than an expectation. I'm probably one of the more optimistic fans and I think we'll finish between 4th And 6th with very little between the 3 teams in those positions. Would be disappointed below that, ecstatic above it.

Local businesses supporting clubs is a good thing so long as it's not built on sand or backed by monopoly money as it transpired was the Masterton set up. We've been criticised for getting the begging bowls out, but it's the same thing, simply asking for backing from the local community. No one has to give it. There's also a big difference between asking for better support (which Raith deserve) and relying on it to back a gamble. I think the big difference is in overall performance. Last year we were picking up points early on despite being quite poor. Teams eventually sussed out we were there for the taking. About the same stage last year, I wasn't sure if the results were papering over the cracks or if we'd kick into gear eventually. I think the management were exactly the same.
